New ball tech screenshots (from the 360 version)

QUOTE
We’re very proud to announce that we’ve been working on new rendering tech for our pinball that reflects the environment around the ball in real time. These are in-game screenshots of the 360 version. We think that our pinball is finally looking great! We'll be trying our best to match this style on all platforms. Tomorrow, we’ll post a video on our youtube channel to it show it off better. Happy holidays everyone!

Impressive, i hope the keep a free look camera option in the retail release, would be nice to zoom around a table looking at every bit of detail!! So have they given an actual release date yet, or still early 2012??

They've just figured out how to do environmental mapping!? Jeez, they're about 10 years behind everyone else! Playfield textures look low-res too. C'mon guys this is the Xbox 360 not the PlayStation 2! They need to build a new engine and toss the old one in the bin. Seriously, FP tables look much better and they're free.

Dude, go troll elsewhere. You're the same guy who was ripping on all the other VP authors out there because their tables didn't look as good as Tipoto's T2 mod.

Personally I think they look great, and I'm looking forward to their release.

My first reaction to those new up close shots was dissapointment at the level of detail in the playfield & textures and the over simplified modling of the table objects. Couldn't help it - it just looks cheap up that close. But when you're playing it, you won't be that close up on it so who cares.

I'm really hoping this thing comes out with good cabinet support on the PC. I doubt they're going to cater to our minority market, but I'm still hoping.

I don't think anyone whose played the current tables has complained much about the graphics - they look really good. I was disappointed in how dull the ball was, but it looks like they got that cleared up now. biggrin.gif

Also, keep in mind that Facebook is notorious for resizing and compressing images even further, so I'm sure an uncompressed and full-sized screenshot would look quite a bit better.

At least the Farsight engine is being developed and improved as we speak and the promising thing is they really seem to be responsive to feedback. Even if there are issues with physics, etc. 5, 6, 7 tables down the line I am sure the developers will try to address them and any tweaks should improve past and future tables that they develop.

Can't wait to see if this is as good as it looks and especially to see how good the physics are. Anyone know when it is supposed to come out for Windows?

Looking better but still needs a lot of work. The main appeal of any pinball machine are the lights, something no virtual pinball machine has ever been able to reproduce (Big Score is pretty close though). Xbox 360 is capable of creating realtime shadows and advanced HDR Lighting effects. If they seriously expect us to give them money for this game, they really need to offer something more appealing. We can all play these game for free right here.

I'm looking forward to the Gottlieb tables too... they weren't very good compared to the Williams collection, so having them tweaked will be nice. Black Hole is looking good. The new ball really helps add to the realism.

I find these tables very well done ... but ... is there no risk that for reasons of concurrency and financial VPforums lose the right to make the recreation tables?
