Tried downloading again, but got the same Compressed (zipped) Folders Error message. When should I try again? Better yet, should I try again - you will notice that in the comments section, someone wrote on May 17, 2011: "i went to un zip the table and it says its been damaged or missing"

Where did this table come from? I could not find it in vpforums.org

Thanks,
Dennis

It should use the same rom as the VP9 version. If you need it, you can download it from here:

http://www.vpforums....u...il&f_id=465

I would try downloading the VP8 table again....sounds like you had a corrupt download.

I downloaded the VP8 version of Bow and Arrow, but when I tried to unzip it, I got a Compressed (zipped) Folders Error message saying: No files to extract

I assume this table also has ROMS because it is the SS machine again - where do I get the ROM?

Thanks,
Dennis

Tell you what dennis, let's try an experiment here.....

Download and unzip the VP8 version of this table, which is found at this link:

http://www.vpforums....u...l&f_id=2060

then try to play it using the VPinball.exe that you have. If you are able to play this table in VP8, then I am thinking that your system is not able to handle VP9 properly (why I would have no clue). If you can't run the VP8 table either, then it is definitely a system issue.

Try the VP8 table with the VPinball.exe and let us know if that works.

No, don't try again. I just tried to download the VP8 version of the table and I got the same message that you did. Maybe the admins need to look at the file to see if it is a valid file or not.

I could not find the VP8 version on Pinball Nirvana either. Let me check my archives to see if I have it.

About a half hour ago, I downloaded VP 8.x Recreations Pro Pool. Address: http://www.vpforums....u...l&f_id=4000

I have the table extracted and in my tables file: C:\Program Files\Pinball\Tables\propool

I assume this table does not have a ROM

When I doubleclick on Pro Pool (Gottlieb 1973).vpt, I only get the blank VP editor. How did I screw this one up?

Thanks,
Dennis

First of all, check your PM. I sent you a copy of the Bow and Arrow table for VP8.

Yes, the Pro Pool table does not use a ROM. Let's try this first. Do not double click the vpt file. Start VPinball.exe (which is VP8), then do File->Open to select that table and load it into the editor. Once it is loaded into the editor, click Play and see if you can have the table rendered onto the screen. If it renders properly, press 5 to add coins and press either 1 or S (not sure which key starts the game with this table) to start the game and hopefully you'll be able to play it.

I thought I'd get in on the experiment, but I got an error, too: "File skipped (semicolon here?) unknown compression method". However, what XP's Extraction Wizard could not handle was taken care of by 7Zip, so I have three versions of Bow And Arrow---I'll probably have nightmares about it! crazy.gif

So, let's see.....Ash/Christian Marche, VP8, 12 Jan 2002 (no rom--the one chas linked to); same table w/ VPM conversion by Gaston (uses rom); and JP's VP9 v.1.03 (no rom).....are there any more out there?

Gregg-

JPs version of Bow and Arrow uses the rom. The main difference between JPs version and the other versions is that JPs version is for VP9. The others are for VP8 (or earlier).

dennis-

Gregg is correct. the XP Extraction Wizard will give you that error. Use either WinZip or 7-Zip to extract this table from that archive.

Dennis,
did you create the folders for vp8/vp9 tables in the vip3click tables folder then extract the zipped table folder back into the same folder?
you need to overwrite/install with the latest 2.3pinmame
they new tables might load but wont work without the new 2.3 pinmame.

Hello all!

First of all, I now consider myself NOVICE NOOB (instead of EXTREME NOOB) because of the knowledge and experience I have gained with communicating with you guys. Thanks! Especially thanks to TA and chas.

VP8 Pro Pool is now working. I can actually play it! However, drop targets make only a faint clicking sound (instead of bells) when I hit them, they do score though. Anyone else have this problem? Dumb question of the day: How do I access the rulesheet?

I think I will continue to experiment with VP8 EM machines before I resolve the issues with the VP9 Bow and Arrow.

Once again, thanks all!
Dennis

Glad to hear you are able to play an EM at least. Post back when you feel you're ready to tackle the solid state tables (the ones with roms such as Bow adn Arrow) if you feel you need further assistance.

For the rulesheet, if there is not one that pops up when you press a key (such as "R" while you are playing) you can go into the editor then click on Table in the menu bar then select Table Info and maybe there will be rules there. As far as the sounds, it would depend on what sounds the author put into the table if you can hear bells, or clicks, or whatever.

Congrats and enjoy!

you showed some ambition and motivation.
some give up too easy without really trying.
