All kidding aside, how outdated is the software? I'm in the same boat as I have focused on the hardware and am pretty sure that I'd be re-learning just about all of it if I started delving back into the software end.

The newer fplaunch has a massive amount of revisions compared to what we were using when I did my build (which started around the same time as yours) and probably addresses most if not all of the issues that you are having.

Don't pm or expect an answer from me here ... the links above are my contacts.

I know so much about so little that I could teach you all there is to know about nothing......

I'll have to double check the FP revision number to be sure. I've been re-downloading all the core system files (VP/VPM, etc.)

and updating them. Need to find a copy of the new VP 9.16 so I can play the shiny new tables that have come out recently. :)

I wish they'd update Hyperspin! I may consider PinballX I think it's called. Did some reading up on it the other day

and it seems okay. I also may need to replace a flipper switch. I'm running old-school leaf switches and the right flipper

"crunches" at times. Don't know what's causing it, but it's disconcerting to say the least. :)

Realized I haven't updated my build progress for a while now.

A couple months ago I found the PinballX front end. I finally gave up on Hyperpin as it was slow

and buggy as heck. PinballX was pretty easy to install, and after a couple of hiccups, I got the

install/naming conventions figured out and now it works fine. I have 249 tables on my cab now, the majority

are VPM tables. I have maybe 1 game crash out of 15 attempts, as opposed to one crash every other

attempt! Much more stable!

Things left to do:

-STILL need Cabinet side art. I scanned my Big Bang Bar cab art a year and a half ago and never got around to stitching it back together. Still need to do that, and after that it will  need some serious color correcting/recoloring as the scanner just about removes all color from the original image. :(

-Backglass Monitor. Been looking for deals on a 27" monitor for the backbox.Hopefully I can afford one in the next couple months.

-DMD panel. Still looking to upgrade from the 15" LCD I have to a real LED DMD panel.

-Nudge board. Still on the list.

-LED Wiz for feedback

-Wire coin door

Financially things are still tight from being unemployed, so progress on the hardware has been slow. But at least the software aspect is good! :)

Been a while since last updated. Got so frustrated after PBX crashed and the reinstall didn't work so I basically ignored it for a long while. Recently got back into arcade stuff and got the enthusiasm to work on the pinball again. Figured out why the PinballX reinstall didn't work, and adjusted the navigation to FIND all the appropriate files needed, and I'm back in the running!

Also installed the latest B2S active backglass software. Started downloading new backglasses. Spent a week trying to figure out why they weren't working.

It's been 4 years since I initially set this up, so I kind of forgot you need to A) rename the backglass to be the same as the table and B) Modify the table script to actually USE the backglass.

FINALLY bought a backglass monitor. Got a crazy good deal on a new 27" Dell monitor and then set out to mount it in the cab. Didn't look at the display model so didn't realize it wasn't a VESA mount screen, so I had to custom fabricate mount brackets from wood. After getting that to work, I worked on getting the LCD monitor I've been using for the DMD remounted. That was a royal B!^<# to get mounted. I had to cut a custom hole in the base of the backbox, then figure out placement and THEN add the base brackets and get everything situated. Finally last night at like 1AM I got it mounted, hooked back up and tested and it's working! But because of the new placement, I have to go in and adjust the screen position of EVERY DMD on the cab. Only 263 of them. *sigh*

Because the backglass monitor doesn't fill the box, I bought some plexiglass and created a masked monitor bezel. It looks pretty decent! I bought one piece of plexi, was going to cut it to size myself and busted the corner when the cut off part sagged and shattered the corner of the plexi due to the weight. Strike one. Went to the hardware store with plexiglass measurements and said "Cut me a thing." They cut me a thing. They cut it wrong (about an inch too short vertically) and I didn't realize it until I got home. Strike two. Went back AGAIN with my original backglass plexi and using that as a measurement base had them recut it again. Perfect fit this time! Got hime and put it on the cab, measured the display window space and masked the back side with blue tape. Spraypainted the border on the taped side and it worked!

Things left to do...

-STILL need Cabinet side art. Still haven't done anything with the scanned Big Bang Bar cab art. Gotta get on that. Naked cabinet is naked.

-DMD panel. Still looking to upgrade from the 15" LCD I have to a real LED DMD panel. Honestly, this is last on the list now and least important.

-Nudge board. Still on the list.

-LED Wiz for feedback (bumper/flipper/jet solenoids)

-Wire coin door
