Hey there everyone!

It's been a while since I had VP installed and I sold my cabinet a year ago, but I have to say WOW! I didn't even know you guys got VR to work. I'm blown away here. Props to all of the developers that made all of this happen. I've been going through as many posts as I can to get caught up and got everything up and running on my Rift S yesterday.

I do have a couple of questions that should get me back in 100%.

1) in the VR settings, does changing the resolution to a smaller window change performance or image quality in the HMD? In other games with this availability the smaller the desktop window the better the image quality and performance in the HMD, is this the same concept here?

2) I downloaded the 64 bit version of VPVR but i'm only using the 32 bit at the moment, does using the 64 bit version help?

3) What is the absolute latest version of VPVR available? (I'm currently on VP 10.6 (r 3725 32 bit) and VPVR not sure where to find the version. Is there a 64 bit version of VP 10.6 around?

4) OK this is awesome, I added the TAF VR table with the rendered room, and I understand that currently any rooms like this have to be built directly into the table, but is there a way to 'pull out' all of the items besides the working table and import that into a different table? This would be specifically for the dev that created this, is there a template of this so that you can do this already, or is it planned?

Well, that's about all I have so far. I installed this on a W10 laptop with Oculus Rift S, 64GB memory, i9 (5ghz), and RTX 2080 GPU (not max-q) and it runs great! Once I get everything set up the way I want I will move it over to my desktop PC that has same specs except a RTX 2080 Ti GPU

Just when I thought I was out, you guys pulled me back in :)

Regards,

Jeff

Currently the only way to do this is to have both TAFVR and what ever other table you want to import the room into open in a single instant of VP then copy and paste everything over.

I am working on another room now that will hopefully be much easier to copy over to any table minis the cabinet and backbox art for whatever table you are doing.

You are absolutely amazing! Thank you for what you have done for this community.

So basically open TAF VR then open VP again with whatever table I want to add the room to, open 'select element' and copy the room objects from TAF/paste them into the other table ? I've done all of this before but it's been so long that I forgot most of it.

Do you happen to have a listing of ONLY room elements to copy?

Looking forward to your new room!

Also, I don't know if this has been addressed yet but when playing a VPX table in VR I get the table to show perfectly but the backglass has 2 smaller screens and a floor where the backglass should be. What needs to be done to get this to show properly?

It's my pleasure and thank you.

Your close, you launch VP, File/open TAF then File/open other table.. Only one VP program running and two tables within it. Then use "Window/whatever table" to switch between.

If I were you I would open TAF then open a blank table and bring elements into that first. Has far as a list of objects no, I don't have that but it's pretty obvious what they are. It might even be easier
to simply open TAF and save/rename the file to "VRroom" then delete TAF itself. There is some code tied to the DK machine, fireplace and door knob that will also need to be carried over or,

you could just delete it all to keep it simple.

Thank you, i'll try both ways to see what works easier.

As I'm still trying to get caught up here, in VR i'm not seeing the backglass and DMD. I know there has been a lot of ongoing discussion about the DMD placement but how do I get the backglass to show in VR. I've added LOTR and Avatar and both the tables are there in VR (and awesome) but LOTR no backglass at all and Avatar has some odd 2 images and a floor as the backglass.

Can someone just point me in the right direction.

There should be a separate forum on here for VPVR so that it can be easier to find answers in the forum, it's a bit confusing since everything is jumbled together in one thread

Best Regards,

Jeff

I got my brother's HTC vive working and tried VPVR: it is really something! Since my cabinet is attached to my fast PC, I can use the cabinet (while it is off, but with the buttons working) while wearing the vive. In the VP VR it was easy to position the virtual pin exactly as where my physical cabinet is. It runs very smooth! Unfortunately the resolution of the vive is not so good and the screendoor effect is quite visible, so you miss a lot of the 4k textures I made for Totan. But the good news is: Totan looks quite nice! As long as you do not look at it from the side (that is like meeting the wizard of oz behind the curtain), it gives good 3D effect and textures. The things I would have to change for a VR version are:
- screws are not 3d objects for performance reasons, in VR they have to be 3d
- maybe alternative ramp textures (like in white water, fake refraction)
- a mancave around the table (with a lifesize genie...)

Yah, I find VR is actually a GREAT way to view your own tables as it really shows how "workarounds" for VPX that look great on a static view, don't quite work so well with a fully 3D environment.

Even with FP BAM Open VR.. (it simply works and renders properly with nothing else required)... you see things you didn't notice before and pickup on any flaws or "cheats" in a table design. :)

With tables like yours Flupper.... in VPVR they look better than most VPX tables in VR because you are baking the lighting and rendering right into the textures, etc. So you aren't relying on VPX's rendered lighting as much.... it's just your simply gorgeous work being shown off because it looks too damn sexy!

This is amazing.

I'm taking a crash course in this stuff to try to the point of contributing more here.  The VR stuff really blows me away and your TAF table solidified the idea that so much is possible in this space.

2 things i am going to start working on once i get enough knowledge to get my first project going:  A pinballx type VR front end, and i am going to try to learn how to recreate what you did on TAF (in no particular order)

Would anyone be so kind as to post screenshots of their graphics and VR settings? I've been endlessly adjusting everything but my frame rate is just a bit too low to be playable. I'm running an i7-7700HQ with 16GB ram and a GTX1070, so it should be good enough. But it's not even with everything dialed down. (And I did a fresh install of everything to make sure nothing was "lingering".)

How does it run if you disable VR (I.e. just on your monitor?)

Are you forcing supersampling outside of the applicaiton? (Oculus Tray Tool or SteamVR Settings?)

Steam VR supersampling set to 100%, OTT disabled. Tables play great in 2D. I've been doing all kinds of testing with fresh installs, and of course, other things break at that point. Just can't make it all come together. :(

Pretty sweet!  I got a free Samsung Gear VR with the Galaxy S7 Edge.  I used it a few times.  Not it sits on a shelf collecting dust.  I know the VR's for PC's and the game consoles are much better.  Maybe now is the time to invest into one.  Do you have the plans for your "PinStubby" cabinet?

This is what I am coming from .. and The latest VR room with 3 pinball tables is my incentive to build up for Valve Index/.. ;-)

Then I honestly don't know, I assume you have tried different (less demanding) tables, that VR works fine in general playing games and whatnot and so forth. You could try to undersample it say to 50% in SteamVR just to verifiy if that changes anything, if not then the problem is something else.

OK I think I'm pretty much caught up after going through 100's of posts lol. I figured out how to get the DMD to show in VR for most of the tables that I added (some aren't working yet). I have one question if someone can please help here.

I figured out how to resize the DMD by using the textbox options, but how do you move it in VR? Some of the DMD's are misaligned to the backglass.

Also, is there a new better way to add the DMD than using the textbox fix?

Regards,

Jeff

You can't do that with a textbox, you need to use a flasher, you can place the flasher any where you like just make sure to remove the textobox also.

I've had my Vive for about 4 years now. Just now looking into the VPVR.  Just installed VP and added Addams Family.  How do I get the backbox and VR gameroom to appear?

//edit - Nevermind - didn't realize there was a separate table download for it.

Look at another table that has flasher DMD for instance the The Addams Family 3rdaxis VR version (with the room), flasher is basically a rectangular object you place anywhere you like and you can enable it to act like a DMD.
