me and snotz have found some threading issues with the .dll causing some flickering on the dmd, when flashing high scores and in some animations. its quite hard to notice. we are trying to fix it right now, the display can look quite a bit smoother once this problem has been sorted smile.gif

Wow, it gets even better. dblthumb.gif

yeah if you watch noFear attract mode when it writes the Williams logo or flashes the no fear text its tearing a bit and flickering, this can be dead 100% perfect!! hopefully we can mend it smile.gif

Are these fixes just pertaining to the dmd displays or will this threading issue make the emulation in general better.
Just curious.
Will this code eventually be merged with the pinmame sourcecode.

none of this effects the emulation speed smile.gif

im not sure about merging with the main source, i doubt it unless the pinmame dev want it to be

Thanks chris. We've prefected it some more and fixed a lot of tearing issues. We also fixed the threading issues so pinmame closes really fast now.

Something else BIG on the horizon, too. We're just perfecting that as well... look for some cool news soon.

Updated dll in russ's sig. Enjoy everyone smile.gif

I saw these flickering from the beginning and I was wondering if it was normal or not.

Just tested and it's gone biggrin.gif

Once the ghosting effect is resolved, we'll have a perfect basis for all the dmd displays.

Thanks, appreciate your great work wink.gif

thanks smile.gif

the bottom row ghosting should of been sorted with the latest pinDMD firmware

the mini ghosting per pixel i think might be a problem with the actual vishay display, really need a few people to try there displays in a real pinball to confirm this though smile.gif

I have upgraded the board with the latest firmware, that can remove the pindmd logo (Thanks for that too!), and I still have the bottom row ghosting.

I have the vishay led orange.

Do we need to update the firmware if we don't mind the PinDMD logo, mine is showing V2? I would like to replace it somepoint with something else, but no biggie.

It had bug fixes, there were 2 versions of it included. One that removed the logo, one that didn't. Personally I like to leave it on there.

Couple of bugs fixed:

If you hit F3 to reset a machine, the pinDMD loses its handle and only shows the dmdlogo.txt.
This is fixed, F3 no longer closes the handle to the pindmd.

192x64 display games (ie. Baywatch) only scaled 64 down to 32 but centered the 192, cutting off the sides.
Fixed 192 width to scale to 128 (removing every 3rd line)
Doesnt look great, but it works.

Also updated to SVN 3365. YAY more games to cause "bugs", lol.

I sent russ the new dll to post at his signature.

Russ, I got my board a couple weeks ago, unfortunately I haven't had a chance to use it yet (busy at work), let alone barely get on the forums. But it looks great. I can't wait.

Has anyone else noticed that the new .DLL has the updated driver support for Bally speech synthesis in tables like Centaur, Embryon, Fathom, Flash Gordon, etc??? dblthumb.gif

The mini ghosting is VERY minimal. To the point it looks like shading, and I actually thought that was what it was. If no one had said anything I wouldn't have thought any different.

I haven't put the new firmware on yet to see if the bottom row ghosting is gone.

Yes, they did work before, but now the sound quality has been improved. The speech is much clearer now, and can be easily understood compared to how it sounded in the previous versions.

Best Regards,
Todd.
