sorry that my post seems to be so hard for you guys to read that I need to start using a seperate program for it.

Maybe i'll just say **** it and not update it again.

Apology accepted.

Well that was fun while it lasted. Have a blast searching through pages in the other thread now and having your score unrecognized as soon as its off the current page.

Thought I had a pretty good system set up there and was proud to be a score keeper but whatever man. If it was too hard for you guys to read, now you can't read it at all. Later

Bye.

You are cluelessly paranoid dude. The suggestion had NOTHING to do with making it easier for us to read.. It was about making YOUR life easier.

Hi guys,
Please kiss and make up here because nobody meant wrong afaik. I was just enjoying the competition that this thread seemed to bring on. I don't care in which format we can see the scores, I just like the effect it has (and I like to myself up there also but that's besides the point). Come on Sabbat Moon, the fact that somebody is somewhat persistent in offering another idea doesn't mean that you have to throw the towel! I'm right there with Bob on the bong thing if that helps smile.gif

I fail to see how having to re-enter every single score again, using a program that i've never touched in my life, and forcing other people to have to download a freakin file just to see the current scores everytime its updated which is a lot in just one day. I fail to see how that is easy on anyone.

Let's see here, I can currently check the highscore standings with 1 single click, and update them with 2 clicks. That's super hard. I can definitely see why it would be easier on me (and everyone else) to have to check the highscore thread, open up a crap program, edit it, find a place to upload the stupid file, wait for it to finish uploading, get a download link to share, post that link, now force everyone to have to download this file, open up the program, open up the file, skim through it, find a score they want to beat, and doing all this by the time I update again and have to update the file, upload it again, repeat....

Next time I update the leaderboards I'll make sure to make it angle independent in a JP style for all of you too.

else its a nonsense of course wink.gif

btw, dont matter and dont take this against you

may be i did not say the things how i surelly must do it, but english is not my native language
than, if i hurt you (but really i dont know where/when), i apologize, my mean was not to critic your job, really, it was to propose something i may found easy, if not for you, its not a prob at all

than, keep calm, put the scores back on, and lets play !

Well, if it's that much of a hassle i could create the table in excel and find a way to post it here in the forums. It's not that hard, it only takes patience.

My condolences to Ripleyyy and his familly.

thx for your work Sabbat, i think its very important to run leaderboards it will allways re-spark my interest in playing the games.

If it wasnt for Twin Galaxys there would be alot less interest in playing the old school video games.

If you read the first post you will see that I'm no longer accepting VP8 scores for tables that have VP9 versions, even if the VP9 version is only FS. I took down bolt's vp8 lord of the rings score and some other vp8 scores too, so i'm not just targeting you or anything Crazy. I appreciate you contributing.

I still accept vp8 scores of tables that don't have a vp9 version. In the future when there is a vp10 and these tables are updated to vp10... I will have to do the same, it just makes sense to me to keep it fresh. I'm not really trying to track the "history" of vp scores. The highscore thread does that already.

I hope this doesn't upset you or anyone else. If I get plea's to bring back scores for old table versions then I will but for now. I don't see the need in it.

I'm just trying to clean up the leaderboards with whats current, I almost feel bad now :\

Hi Sabbat,

I get where I you come from and I agree that it's not your job to keep track of "history". Besides, it was your idea to put the boards up so I think you get the final say in how to organize them. I do have 3 arguments that are in favor of keeping VP8 scores, just my 2 cents:
- It depends on how you look at them, but there could be made a point that the VP9 tables are not "better" or "newer" versions of the same table but just different. I think there maybe some people who just prefer the physics from VP8.
- On some systems VP9 doesn't run correctly, so some people are "stuck" with VP8 and may want to compete for those high scores
- Maybe I'm too nostalgic or proud but I like to see the VP8 scores to get a sense of where we were and where we are headed

Anyway, however you see fit how to put scores up is fine with me, so don't feel bad, I'm still very happy with your efforts!

Hello, Sabbat:

An allegory: the other day I was mowing my front lawn with my 1981 Craftsman 3.5HP 22-inch mower, and a guy landed a helicopter in the vacant lot next door, got out and walked over to me. "You know," he said, "you can get done a lot sooner if you fly a 'copter upside down real close to the ground." I told him that if I had wanted an upside-down helicopter, I'd have bought one!

VP8 still has its appeal; as far as Recreating the Experience goes, PacDude's Centaur nails it for me, while VP9 just seems like Blinding Speed Just To Prove We Can Do It. Of course, I'm running a rather anemic rig and my viewpoint could change if I wanted to spend....but then, how much do I want to spend on a box built in (I think) 2004? [Let's see....nostalgia, budget....so far so good]

To say that the community has waited for an effort like what you have put out is obvious from the interest it has generated....maybe Sabbat Jr. can take over the VP8 board? dblthumb.gif
