That looks fantastic. I always struggle with jaggy text when working in Photoshop. I guess I better get a hold of Illustrator now and learn how to use that too.

I'm pretty sure i've got an illustrator re-draw of the crown-badge icon from the 400-series highways from an old job kicking around if you want it, i can have a look.

The city workers installed the second stop light last night, so I spent my lunch hour with TheGiMP working on the light lenses I plan on using for the lighting. This is just a photo-shopped image, the lenses themselves are not in the Illustrator layout yet.

Best Regards,
Todd.

p.s. To be honest, I was quite jealous of how the lights turned out on Rawd's Triple Strike WIP and my screenshots were looking somewhat bland since the city workers are dragging their collective asses. I'm sure this job will be done, overdue, and over budget! dry.gif

The "To-Do" list is getting shorter in the PF re-draw:

-draw the cars on the roads
-light lenses
-lettering

Best Regards,
Todd.

Here's some close ups from the chase copter - it seems that someone got a little carried away in their sports car...

and here is some work on the lettering too:

You should change one of the sports cars in the chase to a white Ford Bronco.

Hi Faralos,

Actually, they look real because they happen to be the photographs of real light inserts that wtiger uploaded to the 90's workshop tutorial. All I did was use the GiMP tools to re-colour them to suit the colours on High Speed.

Best Regards,
Todd.

The "base" playfield with the "off" lights is complete except for the lettering on the lights.

Time to work on the lettering tonight.

Best Regards,
Todd.

In all honesty, it was Noah that provided me with a tutorial - a beginner tracing tutorial - and I can say with all humbleness, I took too it like a duck in water. It just seemed so natural to "draw" on a computer this way. (I still haven't mastered the use of my drawing tablet/stylus, but that's another learning curve all together)

I believe that If I was someone who had Illustrator training classes under my belt and 10-15 years experience, I'm sure I would have cranked this out in a week or two. Keep in mind, I started this way back at the middle of May. Believe you me, there was a lot of "undos" and "oh crap! what the heck just happened?!?" and I had to close the file and redo a half hour or so of drawing. LoL!!

...and I just noticed that somewhere along the way, that nice image of the saucer JP said I could use vanished from my PF, there's naught but a hole there at the moment. I'll have to re-insert that right away.

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone, I hope I can live up to everyone's expectations and deliver a VPinMame version of High Speed, which has a very respectable reputation preceding me.

Best Regards,
Todd.
