Ok so anaglyph glasses from amazon arrive

Much much better, for one you can actually see through them

I wont say it is perfect with VPX, but then VPX is not an app specifically supported by reshade
is much better with new glasses
And for things with native anaglyph 3d, it was way way better with new glasses

Tested against minecraft, its a dumb thing to test with but it has inbuilt anaglyph support
Tested Live for Speed

Tested Future Pinball

Tested Descent

They all work really good given what they are working on

VPX and ReShade takes a bit of tinkering, and i find on a lot of tables you have to turn up the environmental emissions

But i am also testing this on a laptop, which has no ability to adjust for color calibration, has a very limited max brightness
has an antiglare screen so has that silverish tinge to it
does not have great clarity or contrast
Is only 14 inches and 720p

So results on desktop may be quite different

Perhaps not even all tables will run/look good this way, but disabling it is easy enough, rename the DLL and it doesnt load at all

It was pretty fun on black knight 2000.

It takes getting used to, so dont frustrate yourself
try for a bit and turn it off, let your eyes rest, takes practice to get your eyes to focus on what is not real

Some tables, the colors just may not work well.
Of course that could be cured by a trip through a graphics app to adjust the palette
Things that land right on the lens filter colors get eaten

On the other hand, if one was making a table, or remaking one
you could leverage the color palette to purposely enhance the graphics

Still like to see this done native inside of VPX on its own as FP does
VPX knows where things are in it's depth buffers

Sounds like a good feature for VP 10.8. :)

Good news and bad. Found my 3D glasses tucked away in the back box. But the battery is down to 2.77V and won't turn the glasses on. So need to get new battery.

May as well get some anaglyph glasses while I'm at it.

@weisshund Which anaglyph glasses did you get?

Amazon.com: 4 Pieces Clip On 3D Glasses Red Blue 3D Glasses 3D Movie Game Glasses Anti-Polarization Design Red-Blue 3D Style Glasses : Electronics

because i wear glasses and they seemed the less hassle

but got a pair like this too just to try

Amazon.com: BIAL Red-Blue 3D Glasses/Cyan Anaglyph Simple Style 3D Glasses 3D Movie Game-Extra Upgrade Style : Electronics

I will have to try on my desktop
On laptop i find it is best to eliminate other bright light sources
Might simply be because my laptop screen can not compete
but a bright light source coming from the sides or top just totally ruins the illusion, for me anyways

Oh yeah Toxie, that would be awesome if you could do that. :) Did you work on the other existing 3D implementations that VPX has?

Yup.. I had the 1st stereo3D cab in the world i guess (with an ultraslow & whacky VP9 implementation to start with)..  :)

 ultraslow & whacky

I say, i'm very sorry, but could you define ultra slow and whacky

We here at the ministry have to verify such claims

Did this predate the 3D feature of Pinball FX 2 on PS3? I think it was back in around 2012, although it didn't have cab support so was a different beast.
It really would be fantastic to have some 3D options again now that 3D TVs are rare to find even if it is anaglyph, at least it will then be available to every user to try out.

Even if a person only finds a few tables that really suit it well, it is still fun to run that way once in a while, and it is stereo 3D for almost no money
BAM has a really good setup for it, i was playing pink floyd in FP, it was freaky :)

First commit was ~June 2012.. And in the DX7 version of VP9..  :)     (which meant that the stereo3D was still done in software, as no shaders :))

the anaglyph will be really to its advantage, if there are real-time camera movements, with ball tracking for example ....

future pinball allows it (quake engine) , but vpx I don't know, if it is able.

3d is really nice dynamically, but in a static position it's less fun.

intentionally accentuated depth:

In FP that is annoying as all hell with 3D anaglyph on, you keep losing focus because the table moves

so i disable that.

I dont even like in in non anaglyph in FP desktop mode
Camera goes where it feels it should go, which is not where i want it

Wow, now that was fast.... unfortunately I'm a bit slow and a little embarrassed that I have no idea how to go about compiling those files from github. I don't expect you to teach me, but greatly appreciate that this now appears to be headed for the next compiled release. Thanks so much Toxie... time to go and buy some anaglyph glasses.

I did also notice in the code that you have included several different anaglyph colour schemes so that's even more awesome. I'll buy a few different sets of glasses for testing this out.

Edit: Finally figured out that I need a github membership before the compiled version can be downloaded. Odd that github doesnt provide a message to that effect when I rolled over the compiled versions before logging in.

Thanks so much toxie! This will be a big enhancement for VP. My red/cyan glasses are supposed to arrive on Wednesday, so I will start testing then.

Mein Gott, das bin ich?

Just Whoop! Der it is.

Oh my, i think it works better than reshade, not as taxing on the eyes
It will be a bit until i can test it on something better than this laptop.

But i just randomly threw Diablo and Alien Warrior at it, and aside from having to turn up environmental lighting, which is to be expected

it seems to preliminarily work good

I wonder if a few settings could be added?
maybe one that automatically increases Environmental Emission scale by XX amount, XX being user defined

The other setting i guess would be trivial given proper RGB filter values
and that would simply be the following options

Red\Cyan Anaplyph
Red/Cyan Dubois Anaglyph
Red/Cyan Anachrome Anaglyph

Magenta/Green Anaglyph
Blue/Amber Colorcode 3D Anaglyph

Which again, is simply taking existing and giving the filters different chroma values.
We could probably find out those values for you?

Yea i know, give new toy and i ask for more.

in the process a tool for the ra (hololens 2) would be nice too....

I dont have $3500 to buy Toxie a Hololens 2 setup to test with though
You offering him one?

:)

Send me one too and i will beta test

Wow,tested it and what a wonderful starting point. Surely there's something to improve, but I am baffeled now, after this short time. Thumbsup
