So anyone able to chime in on my issue with the flippers not working and the balls continuously auto-launching non stop? I have to assume this table should work with 10.5 correct? I'm hesitant to load a beta build especially b/c someone mentioned it was crashing most of their tables.

Flippers not working: you have an old vpinmame. You should update it, if not a lot of tables will have dead flippers. If you don't want to update vpinmame, then you'll need to change a line in the script. Find line 26, Const UseSolenoids = 2, and change that 2 number with 1, so the line will be Const UseSolenoids = 1. I guess this will fix all your problems. But you'll miss the faster flipper response of the new vpinmame.

JP, what's the definition of an "old" vpinmame. I have V3.1 running under VPX 4.0 full install and I'm also having the flipper issue via the UseSolonoids=2 line.

Having said that, UseSolonoids=1 works nicely, thanks.

Only one other issues to report with this table. The overall volume is lower. It's not the ROM. Might it be a legacy of authoring the table in 10.6? I'll live with it for now, though.

I don't know what all the hoo-haa is about with the left drain. I lose the ball there no more often than any other table. Actually I'm tempted to go back to the VP9 table and tweak the post positions to encourage the ball over to the left outlane a bit more, just to make it a little more "realistic".

Cheers,

Nursie

I guess you need VPX 10.5 together with vpinmame 3.1 to get that fastflips to work (UseSolonoids=2)

Yeah, just installed VPX 10.5 and the UseSolonoids problem has vanished. The volume issue remains, but will hopefully disappear when 10.6 final is released.

Cheers

I noticed while I was playing that it plays great (thanks JP) but there is no background music. The voice call outs seem fine but zero music effects? Any ideas?

I had same problem. I think it is the rom.

I tried everything, including going into service menu and going into standard adjustments, and going to adjustment 34 which is supposed to be for background music.

capture93_t.png

Didn't work with rom rctycn.

I just switched roms from rctycn to rct701.

Didn't need to go into service menu with the rct701 rom, the background music moved up with the voice effects, when pressing 9 then 8 to turn up volume.

If you have the rct701 rom, you can go to Line 24 in the table script and change from this...

Const cGameName = "rctycn"

to this...

Const cGameName = "rct701"

And this will fix the background music silence.

Carry on.

I changed the ROM & could not tell a difference. So I increased the volume but it still appears to sound the same as the original ROM. There might be a difference but my old ears can't tell. Or it's because there is some background music with the original ROM and I was expecting it to be louder with the new ROM.

Anyway I went back & forth between the ROMS and then the flippers stopped working with ROM rct701. I did accidentally press 7, instead of 8 or 9 when adjusting the volume, which brought up a service menu. But I closed out of the table hoping I didn't mess up anything. I believe that's when the flipper problem started. So I used a fresh copy of rct701 and deleted the corresponding cfg & nvram files, but that made no difference.

If I use the rctycn the flippers work. If I use rct701 the flippers don't work, even though they used to. What could I have screwed up?

I tried doing just the registry delete but it made no difference.

i then deleted the ROM itself, the cfg, & the nvram files. Went back & deleted the registry entry again. Then copied in a fresh copy of the ROM. But still no flippers. I went back & did all this a second time to make sure I didn't miss a step, but still no flippers. Yet the original rctycn ROM works.

Any other suggestions? Could this be related to FastFlips and perhaps this is stored somewhere else in the registry?

Thanks

I also tried to change the rom version but it doesn't work for me neither : very same results (the BGM is still very low compared to the rest of the sounds).

Do your flippers work?

@brer frog : It just doesn't make any sense that you say that the flippers used to work and now doesn't. I don't have access to the script right now. But, it sounds like it uses 'useSolenoids=2' to get fast flipper response. If that is in your table and the flippers don't work. Change that line to useSolenoids=1. If they now work. Then your VPM needs a update to be able to run with them with the original value of 2.
