Hi guys, I noticed in 3639 that if I went into editor and Preferences/ Video..options, that my playfield would default to 640x480 59Hz. Really strange, never had anything like this before.

I have three monitors in my cab on a NVIDIA 970 GTX 4Gb OC. The other two displays remained unchanged. I would set it back, but even selecting form the drop down would give me a random selection the second time and then on the third I could select the right 1920x1080 60Hz.

If I select OK at the bottom it would revert back to 640x480. If I X out at the top it remains. Strange.

How I noticed was I opened Monster Bash after updating and the playfield was awful, Motorhead was then the same. Checked editor and found the issue. Replicated as above.

I'm also noticing that through the editor once I quit a table, the table image will remain on the desktop and I need to restart the system to remove the image. I cant ALT-TAB away from the image, although ALT-TAB will bring up the windows the playfield image just sits over the top.

Thanks for all the hard work, sorry to have found such a strange issue.

i just tried a vp9 version of the table and i don' thave the issue, so it is the ninuzzu table that creates that behaviour.

i always had that message when pinmame starts with the vpx table
Attached File  RHlrAwi - Imgur.png   55.28KB   6 downloads
i don't have that message with an older vpt version.
that's weird i am sure the table went fine when it was released, too bad the topic of the table doesn't exist anymore since monsterbashpincab site is closed
the table is Theatre of magic VPX HAT MOD NZ-TT 1.0.vpx, any idea?

Maybe you screwed up the Nvram?
VP9 version has a different ROM.

Sometimes I saw the DMD change language, from English to German,

I'm talking about the Gottlieb system 3, and specifically Wipe Out and Gladiators, tables that I often try.
It's not annoying, the next ball returns to normal, you don't need to have a long game session, now it's happened to me in the third game.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

I think in Gladiators that is an rom bug.

ALTSOUND (sound mode = 1) does not have support for Whitestar-based mixes. Could be time to deprecate if its not worth the effort to maintain it. Reports are that Whitestar mixes work perfectly well with sound mode = 2 (i.e., with PinSound Studio software). If you got to install it for Whitestar then you might as well use it for Data East, WPC, etc.

i finally had some time to check this, and actually it would work pretty much out of the box (except for some minor details), BUT the pinsound team decided to artificially encode the sound commands with some unknown hashing mechanism, so i cannot support their whitestar packages unless the team reveals this mechanism (which they do not want to do at the moment, which i can understand (protecting their work plus forcing people to use the perfect replay solution, as mode 1 is feature-wise incomplete), but also unfortunate as we do not have an open source alternative then).

just an update on this old topic: lucky1 sent patches a while ago that add whitestar support, along with a new format so that one must not use the new pinsound encoding, but can work with the original sound commands similar to before.
