Toxie,

i have a request, can we have the ability to choose the folder for altcolor and altsound, like the nvram, roms, on the setup paths screen in the setup.exe of vpm?

my ssd for my windows is almost full, this is where vp and vpm are installed, and i want to add more pinsound packages on my d drive.

Where my tables, roms, nvram, pinballx databases, medias are stored and i perform a regular backup of that drive

You should be able to use mklink - I still have it on the same drive, but, a very different folder. I expect it will work just as fine on different drives.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Hi toxie!

Gaston made a fix for Jolly Park not releasing the locked tables at the end of the game, and it works very well. Could you compile vpinmame with those latest fixes? Then I could upload the fixed Jolly Park table, since it needs the new fix in vpinmame and some changes in the script.

Greetings

JP

I am having a major issue with Vpinmame. I am using 10.5 Final / latest 10.6 beta and the latest 3.2 beta although this has been an issue since Vpinmame3.1. I am also using freeze 1.7.1. Table starts fine with good frame rate an no issues. Come back an hour later and it's stutter city!!!!! There is a serious memory or timing issue that gets worse the longer a table is loaded!!

Everything is installed correctly. PC Spec is not an issue and getting 200+fps when I start the table. I can start a table and it plays absolutely perfect. Come back an hour later as it's awful. Not an overheating issue. If I close VPX and restart it plays perfect again. This is serious memory leak or timing issue that has been introduced since Vpinmame 3.1. I think it is only happening with VNI colour roms. (Just tested the same table without the colour rom and the problem doesn't happen)

If I go back to an earlier Vpinmame the problem goes away, so definitely a code issue.

Any help would be appreciated

Color ROM issue must be a problem with freezys code though, as PinMAME knows nothing about that internally, but only the plugin dmddevice.dll..

The issue was the log file. This solved my issue, Thanks to Terry for the solution.

If you have a “DmdDevice.log.config” file, you need to edit that file and make sure that if the <rules> section looks like this:

<rules>
<logger name=”” minlevel=”Trace” writeTo=”console” />
<logger name=”” minlevel=”Trace” writeTo=”file” />
</rules>

…it needs to be changed to:

<rules>
<logger name=”” minlevel=”info” writeTo=”console” />
<logger name=”” minlevel=”info” writeTo=”file” />
</rules>

Same with the “dmdextlog.config”. The <rules> section should look like:

<rules>
<logger name=”*” minlevel=””info” writeTo=”console” />
</rules>

This is to disable logging for when colouring is being used. Apparently it can cause performance issues for some people. It’s only needed for those who are colour modding DMDs and are troubleshooting.

Does this need to be reported to Freezy?

Yes, please do so. I barely ever use his plugin (although it's awesome), so i don't know much about how it works.

New beta release in the first post..  :)

Changes:

Stabilize speech on (at least) Zaccaria's Mexico 86 and Black Belt
Made sound/speech work for Cerberus and Spain 82 - the only sound device on these games is an EFO90503 (TMS5200 clone)

ROMs:

Changed:

Pool Champion (Italian Speech)  (was fused with the also incorrect 'Pool Champion (alternate sound)' set, so removed that one, note though that even like this it is not yet the fully correct set!)

Clones:

Attack From Mars 1.1 (PFX MOD)
Black Belt (Zaccaria) (Italian, German, and French Speech and corresponding Free Play variants)
Black Jack (Free Play+)
Eight Ball (Free Play+)
Evel Knievel (Free Play+)
Freedom (Free Play+ rev. 07 and 20)
Mata Hari (Free Play+)
Mousin' Around! LA-4C (competition MOD)
New Star's Phoenix (French Speech and corresponding Free Play variant)
Night Rider (Free Play+)
Party Zone F-4 (PFX MOD)
Power Play (Free Play+)
Star's Phoenix (French Speech and corresponding Free Play variant)
Strikes and Spares (Free Play+)
Tom & Jerry (unofficial MOD of Hollywood Heat)

I must have missed something "PFX MOD"? Are there differences between standard vpm roms and the ones used in Pinball FX3 Williams? Are these censored/missing licensed music?

MM only has two minimal text tweaks..

For AFM and PZ there are some very very few binary changes, but no clue at all what these do: Fixes? Tweaks? Changed gameplay settings?

The rest are equal to known sets..

We lost the metallica colored roms on this Jan 13 vpinmame.dll?   I put the Jan 4 version back and they're in the list.

Colored roms are not supported on this site.  Where did you get your working version of Jan 13 vpinmame.dll?

@toxie, i have a problem with theatre of magic roms, the rom goes nuts when i approach the multiball mode, 1st ball locked gets unlock before the start of the multiball, third ball never comes, dmd scenes and sounds are overlapping and rom gets confused, you can see in the video here

i didn't get that before, can't tell since which version i have that behaviour
