Hi. We were on holidays (skiing), so sorry for not answering. I also went to some (rare in france) pinball event to play.  A lot.

I hope we will be able to release this month... but don't want to disappoint you again. Please, remember this is an off-work job, and that beer is the fuel of UP3D :D.

I guess you can now port the code to UE4?

Lol :D.

Yes I saw that. Until now, UE was only FPS oriented...

But there is a lot of great effects in Unity, but not free ().

VPM 2.6? For now we plan to release UP with the last build available... (been a long time since I built it, hope there will not be problems...).

Unity 5 seems to have gone rather free! Will the deferred rendering path be of any use to you with all those lights? :)

Seriously, with the option of Unity 5 Professional version (Free until 100K), does that allow for users to create and update tables for U3D Pinball without the need for the 1,500K purchase.  "Smaller studios can still make use of the free edition of Unity until their projects reach $100,000 in funding and revenue in a single year."

I hope so, since that would take the burden of converting tables off the two of you guys.

I came across this kind of bug and it should be fixed for the beta.

Yes. Quite disappointing. The problem is taht convertion from 4.x to 5 is really a big deal. Another is that there is a bug from 4.2 to 4.3 not fixed on further releases, preventing correct lighting for cabs :S.

We are thinking about asking for redunf, but as we work only with 4.2 right now, we don't know how our license will behave. Also we worked hard to provide users a full table dev environment, we still won't release as open source. But maybe we will release a small amount of scripts, for example to allow users convert tables from fpt to upt (far faster).

That is exactly what i was hoping could be done.  I think that that would tremendously help with adoption of this game engine by the Virtual pinball community  :dblthumb:

I thought we all donated so you could buy Unity 5? UP won't be taking advantage of the features of Unity 5?

I've really been selling UP hard to all my friends and on forums, FB etc. I can't wait for it to come out and start making some tables! How much beer will it take to get it out this month?

You all donated for us to get a unity Licence, 4.x and 5 (we pre-ordered 5 and thus got 4). It was an obligation for us to release a good quality soft. And we will.

As for me, we are REALLY close now (I know it sounds like a vaporware, but it's not, check last videos). We only have to finish all current tables.

Now that it is released as "free", if the licence advantage is not enough, we will ask for a licence refund: we thus could buy some hardware to provide a more pertinent implementation of, for example, cab playing. But we have to discuss about it, and we will, after imminent release :D.

Because if we missed something and have to change some core code for a specific table, we will have to update the whole package. The most compatible tables, the less problems we will have when table designers will use our tools...

Though, we will probably release all table except 1 or 2, which will come a bit later...

Also, there is still some user doc to update. For the release, there will not be tutorials for table scripting, but highly detailed scripts with released tables.

And we already can say that VPM based tables will be far easier to rescript, as we only have one non VPM table: Abra Ca Dabra...

I have some very nice models for the toys. I just need to see how they are handled in unity.
weather i need to set up the animations in blender or if i can code the animations from the table script like we do in vp

Thanks for clarifying Bilbox, I wasn't trying to say anything bad, just curious how it all works as I have never done software development. I can't wait for ACD well, I didn't as I just recently bought a real one, but maybe I can do a side by side comparison for you when it's released.

HURRY HURRY HURRY!!!!!

@Bilbox just a curiosity: is directx12 support planned? This will improve the performance a lot.

AS for physics, rendering is handled by Unity. So, if Unity planed to include Dx12 support, UP should be... However, we still are stuck under unity 4.2.1 because of a bug they don't care to fix...
