@RealA... If/when I do an update I'll add that line of code to make sure sound is forced on. I wasn't aware about the Fast Draw conflict since its just an EM table, now I know.
@ chas... As for
FS. I thought somebody had offered to convert this to
FS, but they must have chosen not to bother, as it will take a little more work than the average table. I don't play
FS at all, so I'm not of much help with all that.
However, keep in mind that I started working on this table like 6 years ago, long before
VP9 or even
VP8. I did a few things on this latest version to make it a bit more
VP9 friendly, but I could certainly do much more.
One thing is that the reason you are likely having issues with the bumpers & lanes... those are backdrop reels & decals, used in a few other spots as well. Yeah there was a time where this was a normal thing to do, yet nowadays people see these methods & may not understand why they are used. Or they can cause issues when changing angles or to
FS, & not know why.
Perhaps I will do an update soon though. Try a different method for making the bumpers. Eala has a nice demo that shows how to make photo realistic bumpers, but that are also angle independent. I might give that a try. Even though using reels/decals for bumpers is a bit outdated, it still gives the best results at least for
FS. But since even desktop authors are going out of their way to make their tables
FS friendly, I'd like to do the same. Hopefully Eala's trick works well enough, cuz I really don't like how
VP bumpers turn out when using only
VP objects.
This table also uses those odd Gottlieb lane dividers, that pyramid type shape that is also hard to duplicate in
VP. When I first worked on this table there was just no way to do them up nicely other than using decals, but with
VP9 & ramps, I might be able to come up with something that works.
Then there is other stuff (some posts, bumper posts, lighting, targets) that all use overlays.
So an update that will allow for an easy
FS conversion might be a pretty huge update. Visually it might actually be inferior, though it would be user friendly. I might even keep this current version available for download, & making the more angle independent version kinda a separate version. Cuz desktop users might continue to prefer this version that is more photo realistic.
For now, yeah a basic
FS conversion like you would do for most tables probably won't give good results, it could get really screwy, so maybe don't even bother unless you want to put some extra time in. But if nobody wants to wait around for a new version from me, anybody is welcome to try to convert this for
FS.
