Fuck me, so the permission must be gone to then pretty simple. When you read something like i will just do this anyway because that's the way i think, you can talk about respect all you like but it has gone also.

I wonder how many tables bigus has made a contribution to and contacted the original author to apply the fix so that the original table can be updated not a mod released.

Like what used to happen in a table support thread when people really worked together.

Lol. No. Classic car restoration isn't a user created content community hobby. Everything available to create your own table was brought to you by the selfless people before you.

I guess you just had to be there, when it wasn't about ownership and the tallest pedestals, to really understand. It was one community, one collective effort.

Once again, I'm astounded at how the concept of giving back has becoming like pulling teeth. Damn. Times have certainly changed.

You people that love to speculate about what I have and haven't done really have no clue about the lengths I go to, to try and share my contributions. I have tried every suggestion regarding author interaction and it rarely plays-out the way you think it ought to. Not to mention the backstabbing lowlifes among you that go out of their way to plunder my efforts. Not one of you shares my experience. The only guy that comes close to doing what I do doesn't need to bother to chase permissions. I've done collaborations, given fixes/content/advice and I even gave at least 2 full mods to other guys to publish. Like I said, you have no idea. But hey, don't let that stop you from telling me what I should be doing or banging on about respect. Respect goes both ways, and is something that is earned and can be lost. Ozzies' greatest tennis star is a rampant homophobic in later life, for example. I respect her sporting achievement, but that's the limit of my respect. I respect the effort that authors put into their works, but if their personal behavior is contrary to the free sharing philosophy of the VP creators, my respect is limited to their work. Do you think the devs would bother making this software for a bunch of exclusive tribes to only share content among themselves? There's nothing wrong with different communities, but the content that is shared needs to be shared freely. If you use VP to make your tables, it's your obligation when sharing, I reckon, in the vibe of respect.

Are you restoring, or making a production recreation?

If it is the second, yes, you owe ford some coin.

And if you gave said recreations away to the public, for free, nope, you wouldn't have say so about diddly.

 

We are not restoring anything, we are making production quality recreations (And  most make Zen's look like Lincoln Logs)

Technically, we should be throwing coin at Stern, Williams, Gottlieb etc, except we arent selling anything

being on the list of tables he has "modded"..lol   I can assure you I was not contacted, even when i ask how he was getting so many permissions I never got a reply.... that silly goose <eye roll>

oops I should also add I didnt ask for him to take it down or anything like that... in reality I cant give a f**k enough to care.... its just the principle of it all...

Don't really want to get into this conversation, but I did want to give my opinion on one post:

This table was never on my radar as "needing a mod". The table had an unresolved error that caused it to crash and that's what I fixed - even though certain members can't bear to hear it. I was even prevented from saying so on my previous upload,

If the author didn't want to bother fixing something you pointed out, but made it a prerequisite to modding that you not disclose the issue...I say fuck'em. You post your mod with the full changelog, and if they want to complain then you show everyone the receipts.

and it's kinda why I don't give details anymore - it just gives the trolls a point of attack.

You're pretty consistently ragged for "added some polish", so I don't know how much I buy this. If you feel that your changelog is being picked apart, just make it bigger or more detailed! Either way, please write what you've actually done T_T

Totally agree. One table existing does not keep another from being made.

I did other stuff to the table...I also fixed a ball trap. Also invisible.

I don't get hassled by people who base themselves here, and I'm done jumping through hoops to try and please a bunch of blow-in haters.  I'm not the only one that publishes without detail, but I am the only one that gets hassled about it. No approach will be good enough to satisfy these people, and I get far less attacks with my current strategy. I don't disagree with your stance - it's a self preservation thing. It wasn't Knorr who prevented me from mentioning the faults, it was the censor.

If it is any consolation, i still get PM's asking (with lots of expletives) why i have 3 damned pages of credits, just to read wtf the table is about

And there isnt even anything left of the original table either, no code no art no objects

help me do a ReMod of the Guns N Roses Table. I know nothing about it. I Own
the machine and will provide all the resources you need. this table needs some reworking . Thanks.. Ill wait for some mud slinging back at me haha 3 2 1

yeah this time around is more for me to clean up some of my less than subpar work from many years ago... G&R isnt on that list.... as for G&R being modded... i'm sure in the future it will be one of those tables that will be getting a full redo, more than just one mod after another...
