You could probably post this on BYOAC arcade forums

Agreed. My plan to extend to other forums to get further reach.

Since the introduction of the Oak Micros Rotary Encoder last year, I have sold 48 units. In the words of one user "I love your rotary dial, it just feels so nice. Very fast shipping too".

Unfortunately I have been out of stock the past 2 weeks waiting for parts to arrive from China that were ordered back in March. In the end some things did not arrive and I had to find alternative sources in the USA which were also more expensive.

I am happy to report that the Rotary Encoder is back in stock and ready for shipping. It now has a screw connector which makes it easier to add wires of any length into your input controller. Here is a picture which shows the knob head on and the 5 screw connections for 5V, ground, "up", "down", and "button".

If you missed out the first time around, here is your chance to get this nifty input control for your own cabinet. The new price is $15.

I picked one of these up and agree it feels great to use! So nice in fact, that I started thinking I could use it as a spinner in games. I hooked it to my Mini-PAC and mapped the up/down to the right/left keys and it worked well for that purpose. Next I'll try steering with it in some racing games.

Now my only problem is that I either need to get another one for controlling volume, or just use the same knob with a shift key (what I'll probably do).

I am guessing this thread is not monitored any more but hoping someone can answer.  I have a Pinscape Lite and an Oak Micros rotary encoder.

Can I connect the 5V and Ground for the encoder directly to the Pinscape Lite?  If so where do I connect it?

If not than I will just connect it to the 5V and Ground direct from the ATX PSU in the case.

Section 4.1 on page 7 recommends wiring the encoder directly back to the 5V PSU to avoid any voltage spikes resetting the encoder. I recommend this over wiring it into the Pinscape Lite 5V connections.

Since I'm out of work I'm finally getting around to installing mine. I know 5v+ goes to the p/s and the - ground is the - ground on the i/o board. Then I have the up/down, what keys should I be mapping them to? + or-? I don't care about the button, only the volume up/down.
