Anyone know if a Zaccaria EM (ie. Supersonic) would be the same as a Gottlieb EM (20.25x41) or as a Zacc SS (20.25x42)?

 

You would think it would be the same as all EM's, but I just pulled up a well cropped Zac EM PF & it seemed closer to  42" inches long than 41", but since it isn't a scan there is room for error, so I'm not sure if that verifies anything.  You might be able to tell just by looking at your art.  Crop it in photoshop or whatever to 20.25x41, & if circles look just a hair wide then maybe assume it is 42" long.  Otherwise go with 41".  But that depends on how good your art is as to whether you can do that.

I went through my PF scans & I thought I had a Zac EM scan that could of confirmed this for you, but I don't.

But the good news is that we know for almost certain that the width is 20.25, which is the more important measurement.  I guess just do the art as accurate as you can, slap it into VP & see if it looks more accurate at 41" or 42" long (whatever VP units those equate to, which is in the chart.

Hello, yesterday I installed VP after a long long Time.

But I have a Problem.

I can't see the full Table.

Looks at the Screenshot.

I am pretty sure, I installed all right(I used the Guide).

For example, I can play CftbL from Scapinos but not from Uncle Willy.

My System is Win7 64 Prof

Nvidia Geforce GTX560

For a better view I recommend Full Screen mode instead of Window.
Hardaware Device Rendering selected if your video card does not have performance problems.

From what I have checked stretching Star Trek 25th Anniversary playfield, to me it appears that the dimensions are approximately 20,25 X 42,00  instead of 20,25 X 46,00.
Please if someone who has this pin can check the size of the playfield.

Can someone definitely confirm what the Bad Cats actual playfield dimensions are?  It's an 11B system and it seems that the sizes for that generation can actually vary.  The new VPX Dimensions Manager is very helpful but in this case it's more the historical nuances that are making it difficult to determine and the other references available on the web for assessing.

 

I've seen topics and articles about the varying sizes between playfields and potential differences with Space Station and other titles like Black Night 2000 for that 11B generation, but have not been able to locate anything definitive about Bad Cats.   From what I understand 11B systems can and do have different dimensions for some titles and there doesn't seem to be a simple logic like the date timeline on actual release dates for the tables.   It seems like it should be either the system 11 general generation size (20.25 x 42 inches - 952 x 1974 VP units) or the WPC (1987 on) as it's a late 1989 table and that by the general guide would be (20.5 x 46 inches - 964 x 2162).  Further confusing things is the WPC (through 1987) size as that's close but not the same as system 1-11 sizes as its 20.5 inches wide instead of 20.25.

 

If some with fairly concrete knowledge / certainty on this could chime in, I'd appreciate it.  I'm working on a Bad Cats VPX conversion and want to resize but get it right as I will also have to edit images with this resize job as the bottom of playfield textures has been cut off in the current images for the table I'm working with and I'm going to have to resize / adjust them with some filler at the bottom in a proportionate fashion to not have to redo all the light inserts so would like to get all of this correct.

I can measure the size of my real Roller Games...not sure if it is the same size as Bad Cats though.

Thanks for the offer Zany but Roller Games is a System 11C Williams and even within the System 11B there were different dimensions for those tables.  I believe that between Space Station and / or Black Knight 2000 and some of the other ones, they differed.  So, part of the problem with the Bad Cats determination is that it can't even really be compared to another 11B table.  Needs to be answered by I guess someone who owns one, worked on one, or is some kind of guru pinball historian.  

 

Would be awesome for future builders too if we got a definitive list / addendum to this useful topic on these tricky 11B split personality tables

I LOVE when we are going for perfection of the layouts, but we also need to be that perfect when it comes to physics settings, Alot of the newer VPX tables relly plays awesome, but some are really poor when it comes to the physics. I just compare them with the real mchines.

Curiosity question -

Does the playfield size include all the area under the glass including the apron area? Or does it refer to only the active area & extend to just below the flippers?

It is the size of the wood playfield, so yes it includes the area under the apron.

Hi folks!  This thread has been inactive for a few months so I thought I might breath some life into it with a question or two.   Looking back at this thread it is clear that the contemporary boxes use a 2.24:1 playfield.   I have me a super wide LG with a resolution of 2560 x1080 which is 2.37:1 ratio.  This is closer to the 2.2:1 than a standard 1.7:1 (1920x1080) screen.  Any thoughts?

Cool.  So what is the biggest super wide tv/monitor to fit in a standard size cabinet

I don't think I've seen them bigger than 38" lately.  Phillips (at least I think it was them) years ago used to make a 55" which sounds big, but at 21:9 I think would have been just about right, maybe a tad big with a screen height of about 21.7" and 50.6" wide.  Now days they all seem to be going to curved especially for anything larger so I don't know how well that would work either.  the 38" ones all also seem to be curved and would only be 15" tall/wide so rather small for a standard size cab.
