Hi Magostin,

There could be any number of problems, but disappearing flippers is a commonly heard glitch. It could be that you use an incompatible mix of the VP8 or VP9 program with VP9 or VP8 tables (if I load an VP8 table into VP9 I get this error). It could be that you use Vista and need to start VP8/9 with administrator rights (rightclick shortcut and then choose "start as administrator". You could try to delete the NVram and cache files for this table, restart VP and try again. If you use XP then you could try to disable hardware acceleration (right click on desktop, properties, advanced, problem solving, set back to three ticks to the left under Hardware Acceleration). I presume that your resolution is 1024*768 instead of the other way round? If not then that could be also a problem. That's about the things I can think of for now, otherwise check some help threads in the forums, maybe you get more ideas?

Did you know that "playing pinball" is called "flipperen" in Dutch? Now you know and may your life be enriched by this arcane knowledge....

Hi jpsalas,

i found a solution for my "Machine terminated before initialized, check the rom path or the rom file" problem. I have to turn HR off and than the error is gone and the table shows up. But with a real big VPM-Display what i have to resize with the "compact display" option. Than the table is playable. Than i can change back from "compact display" to normal and it's still playable without HR. When i turn HR on again...there is no error, but also no playfield and backdrop wink.gif. it seems to be an error like that with the Z-Buffer (with some of the VP9 tables i have this proble, with some not.

why there are no playfield and backdrop when i change HR on again?

i don't understand why the normal VPM display is so big...is that normal? seems to be 3 times of a normal one. Ithought i could only resize VPM-Display in compact mode but it keeps the resized size when i change back to normal mode...also strage wink.gif

But i am happy that i could play the table now when i resize VPM-Display and play without HR it.

thanks again for that great table.

Greetings

Wolverine

Just realized this table had been updated; lots of cool new features ...thanks JP!

The new version's Zip contains a dozen 'ball' BMPs: how are these used/installed?

I should mention that I'm seeing a graphics glitch in 1.1 that didn't occur in the original version: when the Balrog moves (and sometimes when beginning a game) some white 'artifacts' appear momentarily in that area. I played the first version to test/check if maybe some change in my system was responsible, but the artifacts did not appear.

I don't see the artifacts, but it could be produced by the dropwalls (the Balrog). Try reducing a little the zoom. On the editor, on backdrop properties, you'll find X Scale and Y Scale, try reducing them from its original 1,12 to 1,10 or lower 1,8 for example, or just change them to 1 (just for testing). If you still see the error then it has nothing to do with the zoom. Artifacts may happen if you are running with hardware acceleration off.

JP

PS: maybe take a screenshot so we can see the white artifacts.

They only appear for a second or two, but I'll keep my screen-cap utility running while I play that table & try to get a shot.

Hi, I was just playing a long game of LOTR, and at one point a nice little piece of music started playing. Is this the Shire music, like at the end of the movie? I don't know what triggered it, but I was enjoying it smile.gif

Cheers!

I think you went to here and back again, or there and back again, it's one of the modes.

Was it during the game or when the game ended?

In the Editor just open the IMAGE MANAGER, click on the existing Ball Image. Then choos REIMPORT FROM on the right, and choose the Folder where the Ball Images are. Pick a Ball Image you prefer, click ok, thats it wink.gif

My current VPX Tables I am working on:

Attack from Mars/Finished - The Walking Dead Pro/90% - The Lord of the Rings/75% - Family Guy/90% - The Simpsons Pinball Party/15%

It was during play. I had two pinballs going at the time.

I always like to use this one, which I think came from PD's resources years ago. It has a nice "reflective" surface on the bottom half:

I think I found another bug. The ball went up the left ramp but not hard enough to go all the way up. It got stuck on the way down. If I tried to tilt the ball would move but not come back down. I also have a question? I know this also happens on the real table, but why do the flippers flip at the beginning of each ball?

This is the software of the table. The rom says that the flippers have to flip!

ok, I have the same problem in the left ramp, but if this problem also exists on the original then it is not a problem, just that I'm forced to tilt the flipper to lower it.

It doesn't happen on the real game, no. It is quite a tight fit with that 180 turn in such a small area, so the ramp should be raised up to increase the slope, or lower the slope of the table to make it work. That issue won't happen on the original table release, as I took special care to script through it to force the ball through in that case. If JP updates this again, the easiest fix would be to have a trigger check the ball speed and help push the ball in the desired direction to avoid it from getting stuck. The better fix would be to change the ramp slope for the turn which would involve raising every object near the ramp to allow for the ball to fit with the new height.

I'll look into it. I changed the slope in the last revision, and I didn't see this error. I'll fix that and I'll make a new revision of the table.

how bout also the ring frenzy rings? i coulda sworn it went by the same color scheme as the ramp/loop shots. Elf=white (for some reason it appears blue on the ring frenzy ones down by the flippers), Dwarf yellow/gold and man orange/red.
