even more reason to keep in touch with your customers \ i just want a response to my calls and e mails \ i respect he is a one man show, i just want a little feedback for my 300 dollar investment

michael t

Yeah right, if he just send us an email that everything is going to take longer, that's no problem. But he is not reacting at all.

Im going to wait a couple of more days, and see what happens.

Chas,

Nanotech is not overseas as far as I know...

well GW,
nanotech may not be overseas.
customer service might be somewhere else.
alot of business did go overseas.
alot of language barrier problems.
customer service is not what it used to be.
thats a whole new discussion if you want.

No, the guy that owns the Gottlieb copyrights is Steve Young from Pinball Resource. I've made many purchase from him and have never had any issues. He's not very customer service, but he seems to have had everything that I've needed for my EM pin so far.

hey i think i have just guessed the whole deal about waiting for these....

i read that the product only has a warranty of 90 days from purchase, maybe he holds off delivering them so the warranty runs out and he doesn't have to replace wink.gif
or is that just a conspiracy theory ? laugh.gif

Hell maybe bob is right and his car has just broke down biggrin.gif

To bad that a company is not responding to it's customers. (almost 6 weeks now)

Keep you guys informed..

It's been a week and I haven't heard back from my original email.

On a side note, if there are any other entrepreneurs out there, this is a good example of demand not being met and the opportunity to compete with Nanotech and fulfill that need.

Yes was thinking the other day this would be a good project for Andy from Ultimarc to make something , maybe an ipac that is already programmed for vp or fp with a plunger ???
food for thought there I think..

ordered mine march 9th, saw on the site 2-3 weeks delivery. Well it finally arrived today may 9th. two months WTF.
I am also pissed off because the specs listed dont match. it says 24" wide, standard lockdown bar size, well it is 19 3/4 so even if I get a cab built I can't use the lockdown bar from it, again WTF! the manual that even comes with it states dimensions that are not true. Again WTF! Also it says to consult the DVD that came wit it, WHAT DVD? WTF!!!
So then I try to update it from their site, The device is not recognised and can't find keymapping. WTF, WTF, WTF!!!!!
I I would of known it would have taken this long, Too long to get a paypal refund, Plus if I returned it, I would probably never see my cash back.

I finally got it working, But due to the delay, Bad online support, not answering phone calls, or emails. I would suggest go elsewhere for your controllers.

I've talked to Andy about creating an analog plunger solution, but he said the demand isn't great enough to warrant R&D for such a product.

I ordered mine on the 16th of April. No confirmation email ever came regarding my order. I probably won't start trying to contact them until after next Monday, which will be a month from the order date. I'm hoping to have it by the end of May.
I am, therefore I run.

DrunkeyKong,

Now that you have it working, how is the actual controller? Does it have a good feel to it? Does it greatly improve your visual pinball experience?

Today i had a e-mail from Nanotech explaining the delay:

We apologize for the delay of your item. We had a problem locating one of the key components on the i/o board as the manufacturer had stopped production of that part and replaced it with an incompatible upgrade. We have sourced the parts and expect a shipment of them at the end of this week. Once received, production will begin again immediately and your order will be put into production. We will update you on Monday of next week.

They also offered a rebate for the delay. For now i cancelled the order.

I would believe a message like that if it was sent to me right away. After the fact, these type of messages are usually nothing more than public relation BS. It also doesn't help the fact that we have read posts about their shitty service from the beginning.

i have a possible solution.
mount 2 keyboards on the side of your cab.
you will need plenty of USB ports.
th PC should automatically detect the plug-in device.
i might do it this way.

I've had similar problems from buying items from large companies in the past. You order what to them
is a small quantity (less than 1,000 units) of a given item, and they'll notify you... eventually.

So, the story may be true. That doesn't excuse the poor communication of course.

Even a status update saying "we're waiting on a component from the manufacturer..." goes a long
way to calming people's fears.

If my memory serves me correctly, my Nanotech DIY kit arrived in about 17 days from the time I placed the order. (That was even after David Foley straightened out a shipping cost error caused by PayPal mis-calculating and overcharging me).

When I read posts like this, I often wonder what the ratio of positive feedback is vs. negative feedback? For example, how many "good" sales occurred that nobody in the public sector hears about, then on the flip-side, they see posts like this where (a dozen maybe?) have posted some negative feedback.

It's a shame we don't pat people on the back for good service, when it does happen, so that the public sees what is actually happening.

I think if we said "Thank You" more often, and publicly, when good service happened, more people would be able to make a proper judgment of how good the service with any company really is. Could this be an anomaly? I don't think we'll ever know for sure.

I'm not trying to absolve Nanotech from anything here, I'm just saying "in general" - that's all...

Todd.

For the record, I have ordered and installed over a dozen of these now, and I have never had an issue with shipping or the functionality of the device.

I, too, am waiting on the next 'batch' to be completed for installation in new cabs, and I am confident in not only the product, but that they will deliver, now that the parts are available. I totally understand how it is to be at the mercy of a supplier and have it affect your own business's continuity, but it happens.

I'll be stocking these devices in the VirtuaPin Store in a few weeks, so for those who want to be assured fast shipping, keep an eye on the VirtuaPin site.
