I think it's Bear brand paint, semi-gloss or eggshell with a primer built in, color
matched to my cabinet art. Cost is about $30 a gallon at Home Despot.

I already bought a gallon of black, but after reviewing the real cabs I'll only be using
that to do a couple touch ups on the interior, and for painting the button holes on the outside.

Paint cost is actually more like $35 a gallon. Bear Premium Eggshell. I applied it with a fine 1/4" roller. Worked out pretty well overall. I need to do a second coat though.

After seeing the purple color, the wife asked if it was a Minnesota Vikings theme. What a kidder. smile.gif

6:00 PM...

6:15 PM...

Still need to do some more touchups with black, and decide if I'm going to cut a back door into
the thing or not. I can't decide on that one. sad.gif Thoughts?

Tomorrow I hope to do a second coat of paint, and then think about decasing the monitor, so I can
figure out where I'm going to mount it.

Bought a 17" LCD off eBay for the DMD... which is going to require more mods to the backbox and
under panel. Sheesh, it seems like I'm never going to get this thing done.

Received the 17" Dell "DMD" lcd monitor today. The visible display size is only a couple 1/16ths of an
inch from being EXACTLY the same width as a real DMD. smile.gif

Score!

Sorry, I missed your posting!

The sad fact of the matter is...

This spring/summer, my wife was demanding an anniverssary trip, and when the amount
of cash I had raised from my other sales projects wasn't enough for both of us to go
anywhere right now, we decided that she should go visit family out east.

So, in a nutshell, the money for my pinball cabinet computer disappeared in the blink
of an eye. sad.gif

So my project is stalled for the time being. I still haven't decased my monitor, but
I figured since I had no PC, there was no point. smile.gif

I moved the cab in the house this fall, so I'm hoping I can raise some funds this winter
to finally get it done. Or at least functional. It's been a year since I started, I guess it
will be a bit longer yet. smile.gif

Russ,

Any update on your pinball cab? I am in the pre planning stage with mine and see that you are in need of a pc, tell you what, I have a brand new motherboard with cpu and I think 2 gig of ram and power supply that I can send you, it being near Christmas and all. It's an Intel DG33TL with a Intel Core 2 Duo Desktop Processor E6750, 2.66GHz. I am using the same model in a test pc I have to mess around with virtual pinball and it works very well. Just say the word and its yours....

LOL! Thanks mate, I sent you a PM!

Well, it's been a year since I started this beast. Money has been the issue lately, otherwise I'd have been done this past summer.

Finally ordered my side rails, speaker panel "H" trim and a couple other small bits. I need to do another coat of paint and bought some
semi-gloss to go over the eggshell finish I used the first time. I'm hoping soon to finally decase the monitor so I can figure out the
cabinet placement and internal rail support system.

After the rails are in place, It's on to mounting the cabinet art!

Here's hoping I'm done by this coming summer. biggrin.gif

Bought some paint and FINALLY sprayed the speaker panel grills.

But to do that I had to disassemble the bloody things. sad.gif

Attached File  speakerpanel2.jpg   128.07KB   91 downloads

Got it all painted and added the panel graphic and top plexi.

Attached File  speakerpanel.jpg   67.45KB   114 downloads

I WISH there was some way to get the graphics printed on clear adhesive vinyl.
Ideally, one should have the graphic reverse printed, with the adhesive on top
and stick it to the back side of the plexiglass.

The real ones are silkscreened of course, but that's impossible for me. smile.gif

So it looks pretty decent. The graphic looks good, even though you see the shape of the
speaker panel underneath if you look closely.

I guess the LCD is next. I still need to decide if I'm cutting a back door or not.
It's looking like I'll have to.

Do what I normally do and apply the decal to the clear plexiglas rather than just use the plexiglas as a cover.

I thought about that, but since I'm using the recycled speaker panel from my Indiana Jones, I decided to stick with the
Williams design and go plexi over graphic.

Plus, my cutting out of the window hole in the decal wasn't as perfect as I'd hoped, so I made due. smile.gif

Did you cut out the speaker DMD hole in your plexi?

Homer: "Mmmmm... CNC... *drool*" smile.gif

I may revise my design in the future, but for now, I'm cool with it. It's one of those things where YOU know
what the flaws in your build are, but the average player won't. smile.gif

Just received my new rails, speaker "H" channel, glass lift channel and a couple other small things.

I sense more work in my future... smile.gif

Very cool.

Is that from your own mill, or from work?

From my machine, in fact only the 5,6th parts made from it to that point.

Time to start churning out some parts wink.gif

Finally did some more work over the last couple weeks...

Received my backglass art piece and it's pretty sweet. Air release vinyl over some salvaged plexiglass I had on hand.

Got the new back door "finished" (except for adding a lock) and got the PC drawer assembled and mounted. yay!

Has to remount the side mounts a little, but was able to reuse the existing holes I drilled.

Also (finally) cut out the hole for the plunger location. It was ugly, but the drilling/cutting damage can't be seen when you
have the plunger base in place.

Still need to bondo the cabinet, as well as the splinters created when I cut the back door out... and then repaint. Again. smile.gif

And... Pics!! smile.gif

Looking good. Like the static backglass. I managed to get hold of a real translite recently, so with the other decal set I have, plan on doing a std width cab with the same static backglass. May hook up an arduino to run some lights behind the backglass for the BBB table.
