Mine just arrived today, it sure is a lot smaller than I imagined.

THANK YOU Worship.gif

Unfortunately, I did not expect it to arrive this quickly so my rig has been stripped bare for paint, and now I am about to move my business in 2 days. I may not get to this for a couple of weeks facepalm.gif

I know you have a full plate but... how are you coming along on the custom logo tool?

Ok russdx let us know for the firmware fix:)

Hack3r, as said earlier, my motherboard calculates the 5 volts at 5.04 so it comes from the psu from my pc wink.gif

Don't you have this issue yourself?

I'm curious if Chriz still has it, I'm a little bit confused if it's a hardware or software issue.

Try a Different Power supply or straight of your PSU from PC...

I havent measured mine, but I think you might be giving it too much power, and or not enough.

I'm all hooked up and testing good!!! dblthumb.gif I too see the ghosting, even though I have my Vishay LED DMD powered by my PC PSU 5V power connector. (using a Hard Drive power connector from the PC PSU.) I also connected an inline 1.5 Amp fast blow fuse to the red power wire like it was suggested by maxxsinner.

I would like to get my hands on that new vpinmame.dll file for cabinet users too.

I forgot the data cable for my phone at work so I'll post the videos tomorrow.

Best Regards,
Todd.

There different volts on your power supply? whats the 5V look like?

Russ can you hook me up with a tracking number?
Thanks

I used the red wire and one of the black wires from a hard drive connector.

Best Regards,
Todd.

Two vids showing a traditional DMD and the second showing the standard pinmame display:

traditional DMD from CFTBL

pinmame display from HS

Strange that I have a similar vertical line as russdx, no?

Todd.

that line was due to a dead pixel on my pinled display causing it to short an entire column. what display did you go with? is it using the 8x8 matrix blocks or the separate 0603 leds?

is there a dead pixel?

It's using the 8x8 blocks and I don't think there's a dead pixel anywhere, in fact, up close it looks similar to the "ghost" pixels on the bottom row. Any clues? I used the WHQL drivers for the ftdi chip, should I have used the newer BETA drivers instead?

I'm sorry but the driver installation part of the instructions was the only part of the installation I did not find very clear.

Thanks for all your hard work Russ! dblthumb.gif I'm very much looking forward to the updated firmware and the cabinet version of the pinmame DLL file.

Best Regards,
Todd.

p.s. it's the RED LED Vishay LEE-128G032 5VDC display.

ah very strange, there is no reason y the pinDMD would just draw a random ghost line vertically. do you have access to any other dmd displays to see if its the pinDMD or dmd display

hmmm there is no reason for the pinDMD to draw a vertical ghost line, i can only assume its a faulty dmd display.

do you have access to a pinball machine to plug ur led display in?

is the line there when the default pinDMD logo is first drawn?

hmmm lol
not quite sure how to pin point the problem could be pinDMD or DMD display hehe

i really dont think the pinDMD is causing it though as there is nothing in the firmware that would randomly draw a ghosted line in the same place every time :/ (the bottom ghost pixels is some thing else)

not quite sure what to suggest!!

No problem Russ, I'm going to use my meter to test the output voltage of my PC power supply, while a game is running to see what the LED display is getting.

Chriz: glad you sorted out the problem, good learning lesson for all of us when we finally get a chance to try it!

Russ: I got my board in, but my DMD is in Montreal with the rest of my pincab parts, the DMD is getting sized up to a custom made DMD/Speaker grill. Drat! smile.gif When I got the package, the shipping envelop was a bit banged up, I was worried that the board may have gotten damaged. So I opened it up, and out popped the wrapped cable... and no board! For a sec, I'm basically saying "WTF?" I look again in the envelope and there's no board there! OH NO! Then I took a closer look at the cable and notice the board is inside the wrapped cable! LOL I was expecting this 5X size board, not this awesome little perfect beastie! smile.gif Looks fantastic, super well made, better than I was expecting. Now I just need to test this thing, hopefully by the end of April, I'll be getting it back BUT I may pay my buddy a visit just to test this out smile.gif

Thanks again friend, appreciated.

Got my board today!! Tried it out and took a few pics. Didn't have time to go into much detail yet but from what I tested it works great! As Loafer said I was suprised how small this board is! biggrin.gif

I haven't tested my voltage, but I'm running off the same PC connector that I have my case fans running off of (4x120mm, 2x200mm) and don't seem to see any flickering on heavy usage. I did notice what might have been a bit in T2, but only on specific animations so it might just be that rom. I'll do more testing later tonight.

**I should clarify -- I have it running off the 5v side of the same molex my 12v fans are plugged into. Does not seem to be causing any issues.
One other thing. After I put the new pinmame.dll in and "intsalled" it, now everytime I load a table the vpinmame splash screen comes up? Is there a way to disable that?
