Few members have paid already / I had a few ppl marked down for multiple boards. smile.gif and two members have not got intouch sad.gif
If I have sent two invoices by mistake please ignore the second one. Or if I have got your qauntity wrong. Just pay for the one smile.gif

If there is spare boards ill start sending invoices to ppl on the second preorder list smile.gif

Thanks for all the payments so far smile.gif

I am always concerned to blow something up. If anyone could post a diagram on how they connect the DMD to a molex connector, it would be appreciated. I did manage to connect a lighted trackball to a molex connector on my arcade cab but I thought I was going to have a hard attack! GAK!

It has been posted on the first pages:

Could be great to add this on the first post, or in the documentation, if it hasn't been already done.

Loafer,

It was chinese for me in the beginning also wink.gif

You have to tweak a molex extension cable like the screenshot, cut two of the four cables and switch the remaining ground to the third pin.

And add the fuse of course.

Or you create or ask to create the cable like the screenshot. Someone will do it for me.

This schema is for the Vishay LED 5 volt, is it the one you have?

It is not as hard as it looks.
But if you have never messed with Molex plugs before then just go to any local Electronic/Computer parts store and ask them if they can make you a wiring harness for what you are doing.
It is easy and most shops can kick one out to you pretty fast.
Just bring the DMD display so they can see the connector type they need and tell them the other end will go to a standard computer power supply.
If you print out the sketch above, they will understand quickly.

I just realized (in case no one else thought of this). Not sure how long the data cable from the driver to the DMD will be, but my guess is for many people, not long enough, which means you will need a USB cable extender for the board. I will need a really long one since my PC is situated in the front of my cab smile.gif I have to dig, I'm pretty sure I have one stashed somewhere smile.gif

For the power -- you don't necessarily need molex connecter. You can use the same blade connecters you use for lamps (although it won't look as pretty - it will still be easy on and off) and then the PC side is easy to get pretty much anywhere for 5v attach it to the PC power (it's already prepinned I believe), add more wire to the DMD. I am unsure where to get the molex for the DMD board unless someone has a part number for it. I can guarantee my local Radioshack won't know. Maybe Future Electronics has it.

the 14 way dmd cable is 30cm, but the usb cable can be what ever length you want it to be iv been testing my board with a 2meter one smile.gif

shouldnt need a usb extender board smile.gif just a longer cable! smile.gif

iv been looking at shipping options and its £2 for standard shipping to the states and £7.38 for recorded. im currently going with recorded so i can track the package and make sure it arrives ok. but does every one want this? as it really bumps the price up a lot.

what do you guys think? is recorded needed or not?

tracked shipping is way more faster than the slow economy shipping - and its insured. I think its a must...

cheers
