Here are a couple pics of what Mame looks like on my setup. Mortal Kombat 3 in 4:3 cocktail, and DoDonPachi in vertical.

I can see where that would be REALLY sweet for vertical games.

This setup is made from plain PVC pipe, all the things to make this you can get from your local home improvement store. The cost of the pipe is very cheap, and it's easy to work with. If you need some tips KM, just let me know and I'll try to help.

Can you post your "bill-of-materials" so we know how many elbows, T-joints and how much straight pipe is needed? What size monitors did you use? Thanks! biggrin.gif

Best Regards,
Todd.

The monitors are a 19" viewsonic va902b, which I got used off of Ebay for about $50, and Sony Bravia 32" which I got last year on Black Friday for $350. The reason I used the Sony was because I wanted to use a monitor with the straightest case I could find. I was not going to take the screen out of the case like some do for a cabinet build. Most all 32" models come with some kind of fancy, artsy formed case. The Sony is straight, with no curves at all. There are better performing screens out there, but the Sony was cheap and met my requirements, I was building on a budget.

Here is another link to more pics so you can get an idea of how this progressed. Flickr account.

Here is a rough list of what I used:

Backglass monitor frame-
2- 3 way Tees
2- 90 degree elbows

32" monitor frame-
2- 45 degree wyes (I used street wyes, but regular wyes will do. The street wyes are harder to find)
8- 3 way tees
2- 45 degree elbows

Stand-
2- 4 way tees
14- 3 way tees
2- 90 degree elbows

And about 8 to 10 pieces of 1.50" pvc pipe. (This was a first try at making this, I made some mistakes and changes along the way)

To hold the PF monitor in place, I used Velcro elastic straps that stretch across the pipes and act as a bed for the monitor. Those were at Lowes as well.

If anyone is really serious about trying to make something like this, I would be glad to take mine apart and post pics so you can see more clearly how it fits together.

Nice Moogster.

Can I ask:
What software frontend do you use?

Is that Hyperspin frontend?
If it is, can you also run hyperpin from hyperspin?

I haven't tried that yet on my cab, but I am planning to attempt it in the future: to have the mame/hyperspin frontend come up and then you can select a system or mame game or select pinball which loads hyperpin for the pinballs.
I will build a dual joystick for the mame games that sits over the pinball playfield monitor.

Cheers

I use two different frontends. I use Maximus Arcade for Mame, and Hyperpin for pinball. I have never tried to run HP from MA, but it might work. The biggest problem is that MA will only run from 90 degrees. So every time I want to play Mame, I have to go into my Nvidia controls and rotate the screen. Visual Pinball is always set at 270 for FS tables, so I play pinball at 270. It kinda sucks to have to switch the rotation every time, but I have gotten used to it. I have asked the MA guys to add 270 rotation to their frontend, but it has not happened yet as far as I know.

I think that the Nvidia control panel should have program specific settings for rotate, just like it does for 3d settings.

It was the screenshots on your site Grizz that inspired me to copy all my mame arcade files onto my pinball PC too! dblthumb.gif

Now I just need to google a Canadian distributor for a spinner, trackball and joystick.

have here 3 selfmade mame bartops (17" / 10" crt) and 2 restored taito candy cabs with mame or jamma pcb

When you say 'selfmade' you didn't mean you, did you?

I wonder if you have larger versions of any of these photos. I'm especially interested in seeing the last photo in more detail.

Thanks.

This is the MAME cab I built several years ago. I'm a huge fan of Futurama so I themed my cab after it. The control panel art was taken from one of the DVD sets, which I then took into Illustrator and recreated as a vector image.
