Are you kidding ... of course there are multiple usefull views !!! (from top, if you have a cab, in front of the table if you have a simple PC).
And what about the different screen sizes ??? (4/3, 16/10, 16/9...)
That's the major problem of VP (and probably the only one).

Don't want to start a flame war, though. They all have their advantages / disadvantages.

The software is licensed to Nanothech (I think it is exclusive license...correct me if Im wrong) so they can install it in their Multipin cabinet.
so you can imagine that there is more feature in that version then the public version. It is a bulk license for commercial uses and not available to single user.
there had been a lot of discussion why this or that feature are not yet in FP... like magnet for instance...the magnet is fully implemented in FP but not "unlocked" in the public version.

you could consider the public version of FP like a "free Demo" if it is more understandable. A damn complete one IMHO..

isn't it comprehensible that if you want to make money out of a free product, you limit some option to the public version and hold some goodies for your paying customers?
as for the nexr question that would come to your mind "why the maker didn't think about selling it to the mass in the first place...well, he is the only one who made the decision about that. but I know that answering to one customer is less difficult then having to repond to 1,000,000....well you do the math..

IMHO, I think Black would do much better selling the software to the public. Even if a commercial cabinet comes out, it will be over priced and above most people's budgets. And lets face it, pinball is not what the coin operators/public want these days, be it real or virtual. He'd be better off selling it to the PC gamers and homebrew cab builder... basically us. That's what I calculated anyway.

EDIT: And by pissing off the main FP fans here and at FP's forum, how many cabs do you think they are going to sell to us now? If GlobalVR realized their mistake and backed out... and they are a lot bigger name in the coin op industry, what chance does NanoTech have? Oh and sorry for being off topic, I will say no more. 3D models are cool... there I'm on topic again. smile.gif

If I remember correctly, part of the downfall of the globalvr ultrapin was that they had problems with the licensing (for the pinball tables they were reproducing), something to do with it being a time limited license and they would have had to renew it again after a relatively short period. They likely couldnt sell the machines fast enough and the license expired. I could be wrong on that, my memory is a little fuzzy there.

I think, too that should sell the software pubilc.
If it's cheap, I would buy it. For me it musn't be an advanced software. Just typing XYZ positions and so on.

I don't think Nanotech has an exclusive license, as there are multiple companies with the Future Pinball program on their products at the same time, making sales and developing it. And I don't think Nanotech has a model editor either. But none of that makes any difference to us. I appreciate you still making new models for tables.

'isn't it comprehensible that if you want to make money out of a free product, you limit some option to the public version and hold some goodies for your paying customers?'

It's comprehensible to not even have a public version, so yes.

I don't think these pinball editors would have much of a market. Especially having something like a 3d model editor of sorts. The learning curve is too steep, even for a VP original. A player maybe, some games, an interface. Or for commercial hardware development. But an editor, no, who will they sell it to? the relative few of us? The point remains that the hobbyists so far have those public versions and if that ends, well it was good while it lasted, and we are still learning to use what we have, and it serves it purpose well. Phone support for VP? I don't think so.

How many people develop games for FP? How many tinker with it? If it was mine and the answer was 100s then I would build a version with a model importer in a format that if you wanted a model you guys would have to pay me $20 each to download them, $60 if'n they're animated. But that's just me.

A. simple as 123 biggrin.gif :

1. "Just do it in ANY software you are comfortable to work with".
2. Export it in .obj or .3DS. respect a limit of 1500 polygon. make your uv single texture.
3. send it to me for conversion

steve how is development of fp tables going, now that fpforums are dead?
can we send wishes and request to anyone? i'm interested in gottlieb's years 79, 80 and 81 but there are very few of these tables in fp, only khomodo's amazing spiderman and pinball pool afaik
most of fp tables are from periods just before these tables

you said in one post that fp authors make a lot of effort to improve crapy physics in fp, how do you do that? are greywolf's 5.0 libraries with improved physics?

I don't think anybody can (except, obviously Chris aka Black) improve physic. You can adjust some things (strenght of flippers, slingshots, ...) in order to have better reactions, it's all.
Greywolf's libs don't improve physic.

Didn't read every single reply in this but imo he or they didnt release the commercial FP software to be sold to the masses for lets say $300 bucks for example(prob way off smile.gif ) cus no matter what someone would crack it and everyone would have it for free. So kinda sucks but it is a good thinking in a way. Might be wrong on all this though.
