Playstation 1
Jumping Flash - a different slant on a 3d platformer and fantastic.
Vib Ribbon - quite well known but I don't think it sold that well.
N2O - Excellent arcade game similar to tempest.
Bust a move(bust a groove) - Dance off game. Great with 2 players. There is an online game now with almost identical gameplay.

Dreamcast
Space Channel 5 part2. As far as I now never relesed in the west which is a shame as it's funny and far far better than the first game.
Powerstone 2. The first game had lots of praise but this one was slated. And I don't know why as it's a great multiplayer game and actually makes an effort to be different to the prequel.
REZ - amazing musical rail shooter. Was hard to get hold of but can now be bought on xbox live in beautiful HD.

PS2
Frequency and Amplitude - PS2 - tron styled music mixing arcade games, 2 of the best music games ever. From Harmonix who later created Guitar hero.
Primal - Action adventure involving demons and a gargoyle sidekick. Loved the story, great characters - shame a sequel was never made.
Shadow of the Collosus -PS2 - Truly amazing game full of emotion. Nothing else quite like it.
Splashdown/splashdown2. Over the top jetski games. Much better that the very overrated Waverace games imo.

Gamecube
Billy hatcher and the giant egg - From sonic team. A fun and quite original 3d platformer which only came out on the gamecube.
Luigi's mansion - Dismissed by many, actually a very enjoyable (if slightly old fasioned) adventure game.

Xbox 360
The Darkness - Forget halo, this is a truly great visceral FPS (sorry never understood what's so special about halo)
Kameo - one of the earlier 360 games and ignored by many due to the cartoony visuals. One of the most entertaining games I've played on the 360.

I completely forgot about Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2! Each colossi was a puzzle in and of itself and made the game larger than life. biggrin.gif

I could have been smart, but I never learned anything by being smart!

Life Force

I share your love for shooters happy.gif Life Force is the only Konami game I could beat without the cheat code. It took me all 3 continues, but I could do it wink.gif it's my #1 favorite shooter of all time.

3. Ikaruga - Dreamcast : The beat vertical scrolling shooter of all time (imo)

Ikaruga is the only game I've ever imported and it was worth every penny for the game and the boot disc for it. It's art, pure and simple.

With the above already said, I really have to nominate Millipede. Many people don't even know there was a sequel to Centipede, and Millipede is FAR superior. I used to have an arcade cabinet of it and I'm dying to get another one. If you play it you'll never go back to Centipede again, and it's my #2 favorite shooter of all time after Life Force wink.gif

oooh leisure suit larry I clean forgot about him, on the subject of Sierra games how's about the Police Quest series? anyone remember them? and kings quest although you walked and walked and walked then you'd die then you'd have to walk and walk all over again...just cause you did something dumb like drink from the lake, piss off the dragon, etc...here's one, Escape From Monkey Island a classic( kind of)...man this can go on forever having been around when they first were invented ( I remember buying a Pong system for 300$ US back in the 70's when they first came out and an atari 2600 was around 200$ US

We've got some real classics in here - props for mentioning Luigi's Mansion. Oh, and Faralos, if FF7 is underrated, I'd like to know what isn't?

man oh man I sold my copy of FF7 years ago for 10$ too, now I can't find it for under 100$! ah well, I recently sold my PS2 cause all I'm on now is my computer building pins, I hadn't even touched it in 6 months so sold it to a guy at my last job for 150$ for the PS2 and ten games, 3 memory cards, two headsets, the component cable and the remote for watching dvd's

I know...gah...I don't have a 360 yet, but this is one of the reasons I'm thinking about one.

Just thinking of shooters off the top of my head, ESP Ra.De. came to mind. Omg what an incredible game that is; it just exudes style, and the gameplay is rock solid.

Interestingly, I downloaded the demo of Ikaruga on Xbox live tonight and it has an option to rotate the screen.... would be pretty awesome for those of you with pin cabs in portrait orientation. I tried it out and lay on my couch sideways... very nice game.

From the looks of this forum, anything that isn't a pinball sim. We have, like, a million and one other thread groups for that!

Impossible mission

How was Impossible Mission "underrated"? It was one of the biggest selling games for C64, and one of the most popular ever.

PS: It was a great game though... took me a while to solve the "puzzle" back then.

The entire R-Type series, especially R-Type Final. It rocks!!

Loved R-Type but man they were hard! Maniac Mansion and Zombies ate my neighbors. Also Toe Jam and Earl on the Sega Master System! that game was odd but cool! Has Earthworm Jim been mentioned yet? that game rocked too!

Faralos, you mean Sega Genesis. The hardest R-Type I played was R-Type Delta for Playstation. Now that was hard! R-Type III: The Third Lightning was second in difficulty. It was for Super Nintendo and rare as all getout to find.

I had the Master System. They had R-Type for it, but I never saw Toe Jam and Earl till the Genesis, which I had also.
