Thank you unclewilly and ace a beautifully crafted table. It was always one of my favourites when I was just a lad and how could one not be attacked to it's massive presence. I used to play it every weekend in summer down at the Scarborough Beach front arcade in Perth, ah those were the days, play in the surf all morning, then hit the pinballs for the rest of the day, good times. smile.gif

Some very fine work U.W. This plays quick and tricky around the flippers, just as I remember. Always felt that this and Paragon had terrific wide body flow and style. Thanks for a fun recreation that really pulls you in.

Hi all,
I am having some trouble with the sound on this table and also on Silverball mania. The sound as you open the game is correct, the whoosh and the invader sound. However the thump thump of the invaders marching never starts and when you launch the ball all you get are some generic bell sounds. Has anyone else seen this problem? I know it is something I have messed up but I have tried everything I can think of. Centaur which is fairly close in age to SI works perfectly.
Thanks

Welcome to the forums!

To get the thumping sound to work in SI, you would have to set dip switch 15 to on. Normally, we would tell you that when the table is rendered to press F6 to bring up the dip switch menu form and set the radio button for the sound to on. However, for some reason, you can not bring up the menu form with this version of the table when you press F6. The author of the table would need to look at the script and find out what is causing the form not to appear.

What I could advise you to do is download the VP8 version of the table, set up the options using that table (as the F6 key will bring up that menu I believe) then use that nvram when you play the VP9 version as an alternative method until this issue is resolved.

Thanks very much for that. The invaders are marching but there has to be another switch to get the proper sounds for the events in the game. I still have generic sounds on anything that the ball hits. Sorry I should have been more specific about that in the original post. Also, I could hit f6 and pull up the dip menu from this version but it did not change the setting for what ever reason.
Thanks again for your help.

The only other thing I can suggest is to download the Bally samples zip file and place it into your Samples folder (leave this file zipped) if you do not already have it. You can download it from here: http://www.vpforums....u...ail&f_id=33

EDIT: I just tried this table myself and I have the same issue as you do, even though I have the samples file. Also, for some reason, the F6 menu will not come up for me at all for this version. I think the author should take a look at this to see what is happening.

OK, I just double checked the manual I have for SI. For the sound effects, if you can, you need to adjust dip switches 29 and 30. There should be a radio button selection in the F6 menu that lists chimes, sounds, noises or noises and sounds (or something like that). Try one of those options to see if it works.

I copied my VP8 nvram (alrady configured for sound) from my other system to the system I have VP9 on, and I got those sounds that you are missing. I still don't understand how you can pull up the F6 menu for this VP9 table and I can't though.

Thank you again, switches 29 & 30 did it! Not sure what is happening with the VP 9 version, I tried it after switching the switches in the VP 8 version and it still did not have the marching sound. I am going to check it again with 29 & 30 and see what happens.
It works fine with version 9 now also. F6 still pulls up the dip menu for me as well. Thanks again, you stopped me from pulling the rest of my hair out.

Glad you finally got the sounds that you were looking for. I also solved my issue with the F6 not showing the menu form. I had to change one line in the script and it now works. I reported what I did to the author and he has told me he will fix it in his next update for the table.
