There are so many complaints about rappelbox on pinside and the VP forums, Noah is doing everyone a favor here...

You know, I also think it's important to note how there's absolutely no denial in ripping code from russdx.

Using a part of a opensource code for further development is not something I would call ripping. It is basically what opensource is all about. You may have a point with PIN 2 DMD name beeing close to yours but is it a protected trademark worldwide ? As far as I can see it is not. Not even in the US.

https://www.trademar....aspx?tn=pindmd

If that is true you are using the TM symbol without having the right to do so.

I just don´t like admins who use their privileges for censorship and that is practiced here a lot.

[Pin2DMD uses stolen and/or infringes IP. PinDMD is the genuine product ;) ]

I think you're missing the point. Russ's code is still copyright Russ. It can't be used without permission, just like any other copyrighted work. They should have asked and/or licensed it. There are MANY open source projects out there that can only be used WITH PERMISSION ONLY. It's the biggest misconception of open source people have, and it just doesn't work like that. VP is open source, so anyone can just change a few things and ship it installed in cabinets with your logic, which is clearly flawed. That's the legal and ethical perspective.

From a community respect perspective, members of this community ASK to use resources of any kind, and they're open source. You'll see a lot of animosity when using other's resources without permission, right? No such request ever existed. By this long-running community standard, it was wrong on that level, as well.

Nothing was right or okay about it. Period. The name thing is just another disrespectful move.

Dominik's shortcomings as a retailer are very well documented. He's banned from Pinside, the German pinball forum, and more, and it's all due to his business practices. This was his doing, not mine. I am very fair. I take banning people very seriously. I treat VPF as a separate entity from VirtuaPin, and there are quite a few guys who sell stuff, competitive stuff. I have zero issue with that. More power to them. Just don't ask me to support those that steal content from our contributors or money from our members.

Hard to believe you're defending this at all, honestly. I can only imagine you're friends, acquaintances, or whatever. That's all good. Step back and take a look, objectively.

PS - You're going to have a real hard time finding sites that are 'censored' as you say. Like your one example. Lol.

Not commenting on the registration of your "trademark", is comment enough for me. Another example for accusations without

legal basis.

Did you ask Louis Beaudoin for his permission when using his opensource code for pindmdV3 ?

Who cares ? Nobody can stop you doing this again and again as long as you are the admin of this site. Your history is full of these stories and everybody who is part of the scene long enough knows the truth.

So long ...

It's been a declared trademark since 2012. Not that that's even the entire point. It's the lack of integrity and originality shown by choosing such a name, especially after being implicit in pirating PinDMD2's (note again the name similarity). You really defend such nonsense?

Maybe you just don't know the truth, just someone's version of reality you've chosen to believe.

I only deal in facts, and the facts are clear.

I´m not defending anything here, but for me your (over)reaction is also nonsens. You admit that you did not register the trademark, which means that it is not a trademark which allows you to judge over other names. It is just a obvious abbreviation for PINball DotMatrix Display which in my opinion is common sense and not even registerable and defendable as a trademark. So maybe your facts are just fake news which obviously come handy for your business.

Read, dude. Read.

This community was founded on RESPECT, not trademarks, and that should be all that matters.

Also, TM is a form of trademark protection while registration is pending, hint, hint, or do you think this is inadequate, as well ... (see attachment).

Hey! Star Wars is available, though, right? Right?

Btw, what you THINK you know about me is mostly, if not all, bullshit. Once you get past what you've heard, and starting thinking for yourself, hopefully, you, and others who've been duped by the real poison in this hobby, will see things more clearly. Lol

I challenge anyone to find ANY truth in the bullshit you've 'heard'. Want facts? I'll be happy to provide them.

I think that you always need to hear both sides to experience the truth because it is always somewhere in the middle.

Seeing only one truth can be toxic. Most of the individuals preaching their truth are nothing but hypocritical.

Facts are only as good as the source you have them from. That is what I have learned.

The truth has been well-documented in many places. In this particular situation, I linked you right to it.

In my experience, I think it's just easier for people to believe what they hear, instead of letting all those pesky facts get in the way. You may actually have to take the time to find them. Who has time for that?

I've basically been hands off and absent from here the last three years. To read the shit I've supposedly done in the last 3 years is just nonsensical at this point.

You're cool, dude. I just have a lot to get off my chest and a lot of bullshit to debunk. The bullshit has piled quite high around here. What a shame.

Looks like this got a little derailed lol. I'll definitely go back and read it all. Quick update, I still have no part, and the tracking on the DHL.de site has not changed. I personally believe the part did get shipped but is now lost. I just spent 45 minutes with google translate filling out a shipping inquiry form. I'm not expecting much from it. I'm really wanting to see some of that German efficiency I've heard about lol.

Check the status and see if it's just 'label printed'. I'm going through this right now with an international supplier.

A printed label does not mean it shipped. It's a tactic used to buy more time.

Another update, he's going to send me another one through a different company and provide me tracking within the next two days. This is much appreciated and I'll be sending back the initial one if it ever actually makes it to me.

The only data DHL provides on the shipment status is "The instruction data for this shipment have been provided by the sender to DHL electronically"

Being new to the community, I've decided to not take sides yet. I will continue to document my experience with GermanGamingSupplies.com so that others can make their own judgement. At the end of the day, I feel that will give other people like myself a non-bias objective view on whether or not they want to do business with them. It also gives them a good incentive to hurry up and get me taken care of. That being said, here is the story so far. . .

Part was bought on December 14th.

Receipt for payment came in on Dec. 17th.

Received shipping information on Dec. 21st stating the estimated date of arrival was January 6th. Here's a sample of that:

              "Dear geehrter Mr Shartzer,

Your order dated 14.12.2018 18:54:13 mit Bestellnummer 100111523 has been shipped to you today.

We hope the merchandise meets with your full satisfaction and thank you for your purchase.
              Yours sincerely,
              German Gaming Supplies"

Received email January 21st asking me to rate a product that never got to me.

Sparse emails between then and now, February 20th, and now he's sending me another one through a different shipping company with tracking.

Side notes: There was a government shutdown here, so if he did ship it, it could have gotten screwed up in customs. I have no evidence that he never sent it, so I can't in good conscience bash him here for that. So far I give him a 7/10 on communication as sometimes he responds quickly, and other times, you practically have to track him down on Facebook and forums to get a response. Recent emails have been quick and cordial though. Again, this is just my experience so far and I hope nobody else is having this much trouble.

Kind regards,
Dominik

After a week, no sign of life, no mail or delivery.

I don't believe the mail or customs were affected by the partial shutdown.  I had several items come through customs at that time.  Two came in from China and one was from Zeb's in Canada.
