dont want to repeat what others have said, but great looking table and incredible looking colored DMD on my PinDMD3.  This is the best DMD I have seen I think.  Great job, thanks all involved

Thanks bud, I spent quite a bit of time on it so i appreciate the kind words.

Nice Table BUT I have no table sounds

no idea on this one. All the sounds are built directly within vpx as wavs. So no mp3s or anything weird. Maybe ensure you're on the latest version of VPX

OK, some new findings:

- updating drivers and firmware has not solved the issue

- beside the DMD I´ve also activated the visual DMD and there are the same issues

- I´ve found out that the problems start as soon as a single wmv file has been completely played until its end.

- the intro sequence is no problem when I interrupt it and begin a game

- as soon as a sequence is shown completely, afterwards no more video sequences will be shown anymore (this might be ball-saved.wmv or ball-lost-1.wmv - I´ve got this one also a single time. So it´s not related to the videos or their naming)

I will investigate further... nevertheless: that´s an amazing table!

Hey bud this is a known issue with Ultra DMD if a scene runs all the way to the end. We coded this to not run into that issue. That being said I have been at work and haven't yet been able to put the release version on my cabinet. I do get this issue when I am using parallels on my mac to play it and it's an UltraDMD and screen rate issue for me. But I'll test when i get home. But i only have a 2 monitor setup so I'm not sure i'll be much help.

Wonderful table JP, looks and sounds fantastic!

Unfortunately I have yet to get any DMD display, not in a background window either. I have a standard desktop setup, only one screen, no DMD hardware, on Win10. I have extracted the Diablo.UltraDMD folder in the zip to my Tables directory. I installed UltraDMD from the Wordpress site (v1.4) but to no avail, so I uninstalled it. Then I read a recent post on a thread here that confirmed the vp10.2 integrated installer installs UltraDMD and re-installing that solved a similar problem for them, so I reinstalled but without result...and I reinstalled vp10.2.1 minimal and updated to the latest vpinmame2.8 and ran setup and defaults etc.

I'm fresh out of ideas?

So when you download ultradmd there should also be a test table download available on the same page. Can you download that as well and try it out. If it also won't start then then we can begin to find the true culprit.

Ahh, ok, that´s interesting. I´ve tried to convert the wmv files to gif... with gif-files everything works fine.

But - of course - quality is poor in comparison to your wmv-files and there´s no audio.

Have you tried my Stranger Things table? Does it work for you?

Thanks scottywic

Test table was not working. I ran UltraDMD.exe /config via a cmd-line box and it threw up the config window and the DMD. Then the test table worked as did Diablo. Bit strange you have to do this step, maybe I missed this on the site.

Much appreciated  :)

ps. I did miss it, it says to do this on the documentation page, goes to show....like Mr Salas I'm feeling my age :(

Many thanks for this amazing table! This is such a great idea.

And the table looks and plays very professional. Thanks.

Just one thing: some of the animations won´t be shown on the DMD (e.g. lost-ball-1.wmv, lost-ball-2.wmv). On the other hand - for example - "ball-save.wmv" plays fine.

Any ideas or suggestions what might be the reason?

Many thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Jannek

They play fine for me. But one thing JP had noticed was that monitors and TV w/ refresh rates higher than 60mhz can have issues with ultradmd at times. I think JPs is 120mhz and it was bugging up on some until he dropped it's refresh rate. maybe that's the issue? Those videos play fine on my cab so this is just a guess.

Yes, the videos only played half if my monitor was set to 120hz. Also during testing I had to use RDP to the other computer and also the videos stopped playing. I guess UltraDMD only plays fine the videos if you run your monitor at 60hz, and do not use any RDP or parallels software.

One small issue, when you play table from PinballX and exit table the backglass is not shutting down.

Should i add Controller.Stop to Table_exit routine ?

One day i'll build Vitalik statue out of used AMD gpu's.

I'm not sure if that will have any effect on UltraDMD, but for b2s you may add this lines anywhere in the script:

Sub Table1_exit()
    Controller.Stop
End Sub

Thank you JP and scottywic for this table. I have a small issue though on both this a and Stranger things. Nothing happens when asked to input name as a highscore. No letters are shown. I guess I'm supposed to use the flipper keys to scroll through letters ?!

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

If you just start pressing the flipper buttons it scrolls through the letters, but I agree it would be nice if it displayed a letter when it first starts, maybe flashing the current letter even as you go through the entering.

And you definitely want that in there if DOF is going in the table someday, don't want to leave toys stuck on.

Interesting. For me it stays black - I even tried magna-save buttons. Nothing, just darkness.

I believe so - 1.4 1605 500. Is there a newer one around ? Believe this one came from the all-in-one installer from 10.2.

Yeah I'm looking at redoing this part of the script. I haven't seen this issue but I know that parts of this aren't great.

Hey scottywic,

just tested Stranger Thing - what´s also a great table - with focus on UltraDMD. Stranger Things works a little bit better. All videos will be shown correctly through the whole first game.

As soon as I have to enter my credentials - which seems to take to long (I have to wait about 15 seconds until I´m able to enter the credentials) - afterwards no videos will be shown anymore until I restart the table.

Do you (or anybody else) know if it is possible to deactivate the real DMD for UltraDMD and only to use the visual DMD? Would like to test if this works better.

Kind regards,

Jannek

In order to get your ultradmd on to you real dmd you probably copied a dll file into the xdmd folder. Just renamed that to something else. Rename it back once your finished testing.

Hmm. Come to think of it - if your using dmddevice.dll - then you might need to copy back the original files.

Hey Thalamus,

thanks for your ideas, but to be honest, currently I´m a little bit puzzled about all those dlls - where to fetch the latest version and in which folders they have to be placed.

In general I would say that I use the dmddevice.dll - at least in the VPinMAME folder. But in the UltraDMD folder it isn´t. My DMD is running nevertheless.

But I found a half-way solution: When I turn off "Use True Color" and choose a specific color for the DMD (e.g. orange-red), all videos are shown proberbly and everything works as it should.

So, that´s currently my temporary solution - which is fine for me - until I found some more motivation to get deeper into this topic.

(Another strange finding: Champions league is still using true color videos, even if I have turned true color off... but maybe that´s related to their gifs? Or it´s included in their script.)

Many thanks for your support!

Cheers,

Jannek

Ah. You probably have the Real DMD that we are not supposed to mention in this forum. Glad you hear you got it working.
