tnx,,,

Ball can not get out...Does anyone know how to make one coin one credit?16807116_10211852163997947_4263786120972

You need to go into the ROM menu system and adjust functions 19 through 25 to get the coins per game you want.

Follow the instructions to get into the ROM menu using either the Balls per Game or Replay Adjustment procedure for Williams System 7 to get to those functions then look at the sixth page of the manual found here to find out which values to set those functions to do you can get what you want:

Hope this helps.

Also, press F3 after you make the adjustments to reset the table and accept the changes.

You can click F2 when table is loaded, and you will get keyboards settings menu. This will show you what keys are the service keys for Williams as seen in pic.

Here is a pic of a page in the handbook that ta2686 left a link to, that has the info you need.

If you still have problems and can't figure it out, download the nvram I have added as an attachment in this post.

Place the Unzipped or Extracted .nv file to your nvram folder loctated where Visual Pinball is installed.

It is preconfigured  to have 1 credit per coin.

I just followed ta2686's instructions.

Thanks ta2686!!

I learn something new everyday!!

Also the ball gets stuck between left flipper and post for me too.

Carry on.

I think the better option though is to set function 18 to zero.  As it says in the manual if you set that function to zero the machine will be in free play mode so you don't need to insert coins.

32assassin, you are the master!  I do have a question/suggestion regarding playfield scans.  It is a general question, but since I just applied it to your table I figured I would start with a post here, and move the discussion later if merited.

Having OCD is a blessing for us pincab owners... there is always something to tweak or improve.  Something that gets my attention is when I can not read the text on a light or some other playfield element.  Rather than do complete playfield redraws, I've found that simply placing new lights and text on the playfield image using Inkscape has worked well for me.  Granted, the fonts aren't perfect, and I am no vector artwork master, but I tend to like the result.

I futzed with the lights on the two samples below.  Good examples of improved readabilty are the 'shoot again' light, and the 20 thousand when lit light.  What do you think of this approach?

Here is the table after my inkscape light mod:

Your idea with the new text on the light is good; it is better readable on your screenshots. But I don't like the bad Quality of the playfield. Don't understand this wrong, I'm really happy that gtxjoe create this table initial on VP9 and I really love this table. So a few weeks ago I decide to make a playfield and plastic redraw with inkscape.

I'm very slow and don't have the time that I need to speed up the process, but on someday I will release the redraw Defender table. But so Long, please be patient.

I found a small mistake in the script file.

The upper pod drop target didn't reset which results in not to open the right bottom gate.

Below you find the correct script rule.

SolCallback(7)    = "dtTPod.SolDropUp"
SolCallback(39)    = "dtBPod.SolDropUp"

Besides that, a very great table.

with kind regards,

Hi. I recently discovered this table and found it to be alot of fun, especially since I was a huge Defender (and Stargate) fan at the arcades when I was a smaller lad.  When  playing the table I notice that the plunger at the bottom of the left outer lane does not seem to work, even when the light is on (which I assume means the plunger should activate if triggered). Does anyone have this same problem?  I am running VPX 10.4 and everything else on the table seems to work great...just no left plunger, which makes the table very difficult.

Thanks,

The left plunger will only work if the light is on and you press left magna-save key.(L-CTRL). which is the "Reverse" button on actual machine.

It is not an automatic plunger.

You will need to time your keypress to be effective.

The (R-CTRL) or right magna-save key is used for Smart Bombs.

Hope this helps you.

xenonph is correct. It is a very rare manual kickback.

xenoph and bord, thanks for quick response.  I will try that out and see if I can get the timing right on using the Left Magna Save.
