We get it.....

What all you don't get is, this is a DIY hobby....

DIY = (Do It Yourself) for the ones that may not know

People are doing it themselves alright by buying pre-configured setups because *you* guys don't do it right!

Fixing the current unorganized system will put a stop to this douchebaggery.

Some random guy throwing up over a hundred of PM5 tables on MEGA with ROMs and that is accepted and doesn't cause people to get heated?

When a new user just wants to look at all the artwork and have everything working without putting hundreds of hours into BS renaming work and that's asking too much?

Guys wanting to put cabs into people's homes that can't build them and that is asking too much?

Everyone work together to fix the current BS system and that will resolve a lot of problems. FIX IT!

90% of the BS you download is from authors that are no longer active so 90% won't be fixed.

If there are 3 versions of the table and 3 versions of the backglass and 3 versions of media packs and 3 versions of wheel logos and then you also have desktop users that could care less about backglasses and media pack. What is your proposal to FIX IT?????? If This BS is so easy, tell us exactly what should be packaged with what?

Let's start wit Medieval Madness. Replay - give us direction for the single download that should exist to cater to everyone's needs. Tell us how you will handle when someone updates a table or someone releases a new backglass. Are existing users gonna have to download the single zipfile again even if only the backglass changes? Post your solution so we can end all the BS once and for all...

this is only a problem when it comes to someone wanting to put 100's of files into there rig at once and then when they go to see it work it doesnt....

IF these were put in a few at a time and named properly this is NOT an issue.... welcome to having a hobby and going to best buy and getting a toy thats all prepared and configured for little Jimmy

this is where i'll get beat up a bit.... all my tables are in there own folders so just that the folder is named correct, doesnt matter what the tables name it.... oh no, i thought outside the box!!!   and this box you cant just read the instructions on the back...

example

Attached File  temp.png   438.76KB   9 downloads

Attached File  temp1.png   60.21KB   10 downloads

Attached File  Capture.PNG   130.31KB   11 downloads

I don't know how many admins Noah has and I can only image what the file count is on the site but I think it would be one daunting challenge to fix, that is unless Noah doesn't require sleep.  The file naming structure seems to be getting a bit more consistent, but agree with gtx the older v8, v9, DT, FS, spanned, etc do clutter, dropping a file from the search after a couple years of inactivity?  then an inactive file search?  whatever it is it will be one hell of an operation

A table update wouldn't matter as that wouldn't be contained in said media pack.

All that's needed is a good starting zip so the user has working wheel, backglass, DirectB2S, table image, table video, instruction cards, etc. etc. etc. with everything named correctly so it's all ready to go. It could be called master pack or something.

I haven't thought about the exact way it should be executed or designed because it was at the heat of the moment, but I'm sure you get the idea ;)

lol so true...

That's what's wrong with the world today and why it's so screwed up.

Everyone expects someone else to do everything for them. They all act like they are owed something for free and entitled to it as if it's expected.. If they don't get what they want, the way they want it, they throw a tantrum and act like a little baby about it. I feel bad about where our world is going, I'm glad I don't have much time left on it. I wouldn't want to be around 100 years from now if things keep going the way they are.. It's sad really.................

You want it easy get a PlayStation and play Pinball Arcade.

This is a hobby, a favorite pastime, it is supposed to be time consuming and rewarding when you get things accomplished on your own. We want our cabs to be unique, customized to our needs, no two are alike. I don't think I have a single game in my collection I haven't tinkered with and adjusted views, lighting, physics etc. Nothing about this hobby should be automated, quit crying over it! If you tried it and didn't like it GET OUT, nobody is keeping you hostage.

these piece of shit kids told me, it wasnt how they wanted it and didnt like it... again this is the society we live in now

and to pat myself on the back the town gave me a plaque for volunteer of the year... oh and i needed to take care of it... nice right??...lol

Not sure what points you're trying to make here Coach. Of course I'm thankful for all that's possible, but at the same time many things can be improved or be more efficiently executed especially for new users.

what part of this didnt you understand?.... or do you think one guy should make every aspect of the table all the way thru to the table load video?... typical leach mentality, speaking out of turn when not understanding at all how these FREE thing come to be...

do you think there is a factory and on Bob's work order is to make everything for lets say the "attack from mars" table into one nice little package? really?

or should we ask Alice to collect all the files that are for "attack from mars" and turn it into a nice little package??
i'm sure you feel like you're being beat up... right??... but does what you're asking even sound possible? now knowing kinda how it works??... does it? really??

maybe read this again

I 100% agree with this.  The force of the community / member should integrated all these in couple of days or weeks.

By doing this, we can try one by one tables, take what we need depending on our preference and setup, AND PLAY.

Let's start and see !!!  But like everything, if the people who have (let said .... power) on this site don't beleive it, it won't work.

Hope it help!

Oh! forget it.   If we are doing this, for sure not 100% of developper will follow the rules by integrated it into one zip.  By mistake or intentionnaly but believe me, if more and more developper doing it, the force of community / member will fix it.

read post #34

who is this guy thats making these packs?

there could be 10 versions of the same table, and 5 different B2S files,... who makes the decision on what one gets packed?

and again for 1 table it might have taken 8 guys to make all the different elements

do you guys really not understand how these things are created?

just the table alone could have taken 5 dudes....

this is not a company with employees... its not TPA or FX2 its not a gaming or toy company
if I build a table, are you guys saying I should also make the B2S, the wheel, the B2S video, the Table video, find the flyers and the instruction cards..... then zip it all up in a nice little package?

please stick with tpa and the other toys, this is for sure not the hobby for you

I will try to explain my idea with your question.

Your point : there could be 10 versions of the same table, and 5 different B2S files,... who makes the decision on what one gets packed?

My answer : So, the zip should contains 10 folders for tables, 5 folders for B2S

Your point : and again for 1 table it might have taken 8 guys to make all the different elements

My answer : The zip is only the medium and the concept of master packs.  It could take different form.  I'm sure with all API , idea, developper, it could be automatticaly zip.  I don't thing it is the responsability of people to zip it physically, the developper put it somewhere structured, then a program just grab it and zip it.

Your point : if I build a table, are you guys saying I should also make the B2S, the wheel, the B2S video, the Table video, find the flyers and the instruction cards..

My answer : For me, if structured or not, doesn't change this

Your point : please stick with tpa and the other toys, this is for sure not the hobby for you

My answer : For me, not because it's unstructured and difficult to find mean a HOBBY.

This is my opinion which can change but as far as I understand all the setup, which I do a little, I build 2 pincab., this is my idea.

My answer : So, the zip should contains 10 folders for tables, 5 folders for B2S
Answer: so if someone wanted to DL ATM and it had 10 versions the zip would contain all 10 versions?
if so think about the file sizes this would create... and the stress on the sever with unnecessary large file DL's

Your point : and again for 1 table it might have taken 8 guys to make all the different elements

My answer : The zip is only the medium and the concept of master packs.  It could take different form.  I'm sure with all API , idea, developper, it could be automatticaly zip.  I don't thing it is the responsability of people to zip it physically, the developper put it somewhere structured, then a program just grab it and zip it.

answer: again no one paying for server space would ever do this.... I'm not saying its a bad idea, but it its not in the least cost effective

also many builders would not want their stuff packed in with other peoples stuff , that might sound odd, but i cant tell you for sure this is true....

Your point : if I build a table, are you guys saying I should also make the B2S, the wheel, the B2S video, the Table video, find the flyers and the instruction cards..

My answer : For me, if structured or not, doesn't change this
answer: I was making sure you understood that the builders would not want to carry that responsibility

Your point : please stick with tpa and the other toys, this is for sure not the hobby for you

My answer : For me, not because it's unstructured and difficult to find mean a HOBBY.

This is my opinion which can change but as far as I understand all the setup, which I do a little, I build 2 pincab., this is my idea.

answer: this is an open forum anyone can voice there opinion and ideas

for sure part of the problem are the builders

-not putting tables in the correct category

-not including rom links

-not completely filling out upload form

I see that all the time... but how can anyone really complain about something they're getting for free

it would make sense if it was TPA or one of the pay to play companies.... its free, how cant people just be happy it is....
