OK, 5 pics because everytime I took a pic, the dmd was changing 2 pics from just pbx and 3 from launching the table.....

Scrolling...

Launching, there are 2 trying to capture the DMD which didn't work, this is a 3 monitor setup and that is the real backbox I took off the cab to set up...

Is this what you mean?

OH-OH-I just saw on the pics that when I launch a game, the scoring part goes away on non-DMD games.

OOPS same cueballwizard pic.....

OK, now all table that are alpha-numeric with speakers do not show anything for scoring on bg, the games I am referring to are funhouse for example, I will run in VP and see if the scoring is running but not visible.....Going to put old settings in 1 by 1 untill I see it. Alpha-numeric games should show score and credit and such on the BG right? I put the PBX settings to where they were and ran PBX an now see a PBX logo but not exactly where it should be, gonna start a game and see what happens...Now no BG when I put pbx setting to where it was and running pinmame and still no bg. UH-OH. All settings back to where they were and I have no BG even running...I found that B2Sserver setup screen and entered the BG res and now I have a backglass, and interestingly, I see a little bit of a pinballx logo but do not know how to move it, I put most changes back to where they were except the one in the tables folder BGserver or something, I will mess with those settings to get that pinballx logo down there but in all honesty, funhouse is supposed to look like this pic, isn't it? see the PBS thing trying to sneak out? I think the speaker panel and scoring has to be there, please show a pic of where it is supposed to be. Right now I am trying to at least get it to where it was but not having much luch but I saw that PBX logo! Now I lost the BG again, got it back but it was strechet so I couldn't see the bottom half on the scoring area. It's like I am writing a diary here. Now lost BG and tons of errors. I should have left well enough alone! OK, BG is back as #4 like it was but there is no option in the bgsetup.exe thing for 4, This is really irritating me and I SAW the PBX logo. Something is messed up and I cannot find out what it is. Well, now I have no BG because all numbers dont match and it wont let me. DONE. Maybe tomorrow, 11 hours in one day is enough, I can't even get it back to where it was because the values keep changing.

In pinballx setting you have "DMD Enabled" = No. Change it to Yes

In screenres.txt you have DMD width, DMD height, X offset and Y offset all set to 0. You need to fix that

that was outhere's settings. Mine is FUBAR now but still working on it. Mine wants the BG to be 3 in that BGsetup.exe thing Thats all I can say now, very confused. I can still see a bit of that pinballx logo but each setting wants to assign a differet number to each monitor but I don't know why and it drove me nuts for weeks, months but I have a bg and part if a pbx logo so it must be a bpx setting.

I may have slightly gone insane!

Messed around with just those settings and the logo would move where it wasn't supposed to so I just kept messing with the numbers and look, and the real DMD's are in the right place too! The secret is do not ever mess with the X! LOL. NO grudge s*x with the x leave it alone. I have no clue as to what made it work. Please, someone, explain what is going on with this thing. Good night for a day or 2. Knowing me, I'll be back on it in a few hours.

Does the pic of Funhouse look right ?  No

The Backglass should display only the funhouse picture and the score will be on the DMD screen

This is done by having the screenres.txt file (in your tables folder) set up correctly.

Load Funhouse in Visual Pinball, and adjust your screenres.txt until it works right.

As GTXJoe had said, in your screenres.txt you have the last 4 lines (DMD settings) as 0.  This is not right

You need to have something there so it knows you are using a 3 screen setup.

I dont know the order of them, but they are Height, Width, X Offset, Y Offset.  I recommend you look at someone else's and try their setting.

Or use your width and height in your registry and just have 10 in each of the offsets, and then test, and adjust until right

Note : when screenres.txt is set properly for 3 screens, it will automatically hide the grill on the backglass (if possible)

--Pic of Gorgar looks right (scores and picture on backglass / PinballX logo on DMD) , Cueball Wizard looks right (picture on backglass, DMD on DMD)

Get it working outside of PBX

When you have your B2S_ScreenResEditor.exe set correctly these games and more will produce an image in the DMD area sometimes you have to try different backglasses to get it to do that

I never knew alpha-numeric tables were suppose to show score on DMD? I set mine like that on purpose thinking like funhouse should be on BG. HMMMM. well, back to work. OH MAN, I was just on IPDB and looked at a few tables and sure enough, they are on the DMD. oh no. I set mine like this a while ago thinking that they are supposed to on the bg

I can see what windows sets the monitors as 1-2-3 pf-bg-dmd, but what screen tells you what they really are? like my BG only works right if it is 4 in screenres.txt. And back to all 0 below that. There are actually 12 lines for the screenres.txt according to the tutorial. I will only post relavent things as this may become a mess. I just put the 2 res's in sr.t and set bg to 4 like it was and now back to where I started from, working outside pbx. I thought at this point, ppl could learn from what I am doing but instead, I am confusing newer ppl who get this way quicker then me. Thats the part I hate about this the most. I have no clue as to what monitor is set for what, that last setting I put thought PF and BG were the same monitor even though numbered different, Why not just 1,2,3? I have 4  and I don't know the rest but is seems each programs wants to assign the monitor there way, like b2s setup wants 1,2,or,3 well my screenres only lets 4 be the BG. I wonder if I am the only one with this problem? Of course, being Friday night, everyone is out and about but me.

I don't know if I made this part clear of what it screwing me up, It is all the monitor numbering. For the pinball, it is not the same as what windows assigns, no way could it be. Does screenres.txt overwrite b2s screen res or is in the other way around? I did a few changes in b2s screenres and it crashed at any startup and went to screenres.txt and it only showed the playfield monitor res and bg number 2 but mine only works with that on 4. Thats the part I dont get.

OK, screwing around with screenres.txt and x is up and down any Y is left and right. I am using funhouse as a test table, I don't get why the DMD settings are reletive to the top left of BG monitor, thats why I am wondering if that tutorial is for a 2 or 3 screen setup because I am now seeing the scoring on the DMD for funhouse and the image is offset a little and too high and small so I will keep messing and I an using oddball numbers that make it look as if it were from the top left of the DMD monitor instead of BG, I will keep at this. I just hope it doesn't screw everything up globaly. I am not messing with the B2S server settup, yet, I think these either over ride those or it puts these numbers in it. It is way different the the registry values so far. Here is a pic of my results so far and the screenres.txt.......Please let me know if I am on the right track.

This is all tested by visual pinball, no pinballx. I won't even know what to do there if I even get the dmd right with the screenres.txt. I wish I could just drag it around and resize it like I real DMD.

Outthere, I would like to see your screenres.txt file and hom many monitors and each size and res if you could. I know nothing about the B2S res editor, I think the screenres over rides that. Im getting there, I wish ppl didn't go out on Friday nights like me and stay home and work on this, teamviewer would be great. I have it on if anyone is interested.

Give this a try it will help setup the screenres.txt file.

Unzip this anywhere and run it.  Open your screenres.txt with it and change the values and you will see the PF, BG and DMD screens move around as you change the values.  Hit the Save button when happy with the results and then try playing a table in VP

I will try that but didn't see that msg until now, Here is what I did to funhouse, Now, Is this global or do I have to do it for each table? What about binballx? Well I did this through trial and error...

The pics didn't turn out too good, flash reflection on DMD but here is what I did, I don't know it I did a good thing or trashed it....

Screenres.txt applies to all dorectb2s backglasses in the same folder as screenres.txt

It has no effect on Pinballx images or video location when browsing. That is done using Pinballx settings.exe

Where did you find that pbxr setings screen? I should make it match screenres.txt?

WOW, I did something right? Why are your settings so weird? not even close to mine. Is that a desktop res file? Teamviewer? 10 mins?

OK, went through pinballx and have about a dozen games like funhouse where the dmd should display the score, where do you set that up? just enter the same numbers thant made it work ouside pbx into the setup of pbx page 3? I honestly thought those tables were suppose to show score on BG. Let me try some more outside PBX like class of 1812....

I deleted all BG's that I thought should have the scoring from PBX recorder area and fixed a few duds. I am going to record a few things but no DMDs. Can I ask 1 thing? I am now recording videos, I just don't get why I had table sounds when I recorded it with images? This video shows it, just watch a min or 2 of it, I added no sound but it was my test setup. https://youtu.be/x3eX3ApOrLo I just may go that route if I don't like the FTP sounds from Gameex, those are like the video in the beginning when you first go to pinballx.net, right? OK here we go.......A few duds already and I gotta say, some of these I like better with the scoring on the BG. Earthshaker won't show BG for instance. will test tomorrow but have a few jobs to do like work on sleds, may get snow Sun into Mon.

Full report tomorrow, I like the PBX image in the DMD at all times while scrolling and only show real DMD when playing, still on the fence about that. I see some are better but some I thought would score in the DMD area don't so I have not tested yet as it is still recording. I am not recording DMD's. This ought to be interesting.....later....

I would just get all the tables working in Pinball X, then save all the working ones and copy whole working table folder to a hard drive for back up.

Then after that I would use the Pinball X Recorder. That way if you mess up on your recording, you will still have the working tables backed up.

After each batch of tables that you use the recorder on and are satisfied with it.

SAVE IT. SO YOU NEVER HAVE TO EDIT THEM AGAIN.

(I HAVE SEEN HOW YOU HAVE HAD TO DO FRESH INSTALLS FROM SCRATCH.)

WITH THIS METHOD YOU WILL HAVE ALL WORKING EVEN WITH FRESH INSTALL.

WITH EACH NEW TABLE YOU ADD, DO THE SAME...SAVE ALL THE NECESSARY FOLDERS TO BACKUP HARD DRIVE.

IDEALLY YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO ADD ALL YOUR TABLES AND HAVE THEM ALL HAVE YOUR SETTINGS ON A FRESH INSTALL WITH NO PROBLEMS.

THIS WILL SAVE YOU ALOT OF TIME WITH FUTURE INSTALLS.

I DO NOT USE ANY FRONTENDS OR USE ANY CABINET TABLES AS I ONLY HAVE 1 MONITOR.

BUT THIS IS HOW I HAVE MINE SETUP. I HAVE EVERYTHING IN FOLDERS READY TO BE COPIED TO WHERE THEY NEED TO GO ON A FRESH INSTALLATION, AND EVERYTHING WORKS OUT OF THE BOX.

I USUALLY RESTORE MY COMPUTER TO FACTORY SETTINGS WEEKLY. SO THIS METHOD REALLY HELPS ME.

Yeah, I accidently deleted my setup from the pc and the external hdd, not everything like tables were all there but game manager went away, I try to make it a habit to back up often but I sometimes get so involved in this, I don't realize the time. I look at as good practice!

What a shocker, I started pc and bg and DMD are all messed up and screenres.txt fine and bgscreenres editor blank except the PF values. Let the games begin!
