For those who maybe like to try it. File name: Cirqus Voltaire (Bally 1997) 1.4 experimental mod.directb2s.zip

You can try it first without an edited B2SBackglassServer.EXE. I always was unable to start this file in a normal start procedure.

In case you can not use it you need to have a 64 Bit operating system and you need to edit the B2SBackglassServer.EXE with the following strategy: Use the 4GB Patch from this website: http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php. You can run it directly from the zip.

You just need to link it to your B2SBackglassServer.EXE. Also a save backup named B2SBackglassServerEXE.exe.backup will be created automatically in the same folder. You can read what the programm will do in the manual. I checked back every possible website myself before I used it with success. So I believe it is a useful tool. You will afterwards be able to use the advanced Cirqus Voltaire (Bally 1997) 1.4 experimental mod.directb2s.zip with effects which were previously not possible. I would be glad to know from anyone who tried it how it worked out.

It would allow me to continue with it to further have special versions which are able to outperform the normal untuned B2SBackglassServer.EXE versions.

Please give me a feedback. Thanks!

Well, I can run the experimental 1.4 without modifying any settings. That's good. Now, aesthetically I still prefer the authentic version, but it's good to push the limits.

Nice, thank you!

Ah, ok. I did not use the 4Gb patcher. I have Windows 10 x64. I don't think I was missing any effects.

Thanks you for your help, that's quite alright. As long as such a file works everything is fine! :)

The experimental mod is now finalized as Cirqus Voltaire (Bally 1997) 1.5 colour mod. Have fun! :)

I still have the problem with the low RAM warning sometimes. I guess there is maybe another reason why it happens. A new night mod only themed version replaces now the old colour mod 1.4.

I can recommend out of the users experience the following small help.

1. An authentic version for every user: Cirqus Voltaire (Bally 1997) 1.4.directb2s.zip

2. A night version with a few none authentic lights: Cirqus Voltaire (Bally 1997) 1.5 night mod.directb2s.zip

Here I can only give my own specs. 4 core CPU >4 Ghz per core. 16 GB RAM, GTX 570 one for the playfield and one for the backglass. 64 Bit operating system. To apply in the case of need only!

3. A version which is pretty much close to the end for the actual dB2S B2SBackglassServerEXE behaviour: Cirqus Voltaire (Bally 1997) 1.5 colour mod.directb2s.zip

This version is for very powerful PC users only and I am myself interested if anyone can use it free of to less RAM warnings for each start. I stated already that I can not use it all the time free of problems, but the known issue is unknown to me. I will test a bit more to see if I can find the cause.

I hope this will help you to find a suited version. Please give me more feedback! Happy silverball rolling! :-)

To avoid any problems on my end with the to less RAM warning I will do a clean and fresh install of visual pinball based to the VPX installer 10.0.0. Furthermore I think I will setup in the case of need the Cirqus Voltaire (Bally 1997) 1.5 colour mod again in the editor or cancel it completely.

Today I found a method to start the backglass reliable!

Start your Cirqus Voltaire. I have seen with Cirqus Voltaire (Bally 1997) 1.5 colour mod and the 4 GB patched exe to often the following window:

Attached File  to less ram.PNG   140.36KB   7 downloads

To avoid it you only need to hit the "esc" keyboard button after the table start. You will see the following window:

Attached File  choose.PNG   82.49KB   7 downloads

Now you only need to wait until the dB2S backglass appears on your monitor and you can easily use "resume game" and finally play it without the load problem!

I did a few more tests to find out why sometimes the version 1.6 does not load instantly. There is still one moment where I am not certain why it happens. Overall the hardware requirements seem to be much lower than I expected them to be. You can see a screenshot after the table start from version 1.6. Ingame the results are nearly the same too. (backglass resolution 1920 x 1080)

The values are cpu % usage, RAM usage in MB, hard disc usage in MB and network usage in KB/s.

Attached File  after table load.PNG   10.03KB   11 downloads

Similar case solution confirmed from Carny_Priest:

http://www.vpforums....472#entry333234

Annotation: to less RAM warning appears for the 1.2 Ultra HQ resolution dB2S?
Main solution:

(Alternative solution in rare cases:
Load the table and hit immediately the "ESC" button on your keyboard, wait until the dB2S is visible and just resume the game by using "resume game" on your screen.)

I stick with version 2.0 as final or prefinal release. I will continue to do it better. At the moment I face to much unsolved design problems and had therefore to reject the latest 2.1 day release version, as it was overall not better than 2.0.

Final 1.1
The wheel and bell act in sync to the cannon ball!
At the moment only in Voltaire_DMD_Release day final 1.1 together with a table script change and a timer set to the playfield as shown in the final 1.1 script change description.PNG.zip from this download folder. More versions will be updated in the near future.
The same as with the other final versions you will need Dozers latest table version to use it.

https://www.vpforums...&showfile=11663

This version does use the slower cannon shot speed as the older versions do.

Every other mod table version which was set up on Dozers latest work should also work.

This dB2S took a while to reach the feeling which you can see here as a little teaser. There is also a day version ready.

A little teaser advertisement for an upcoming dB2S:

Please redownload from https://www.vpforums...&showfile=11429: (Dozer's DMD or Mods table dB2S and script changes.zip)

Please redownload the CV_DMD_Release_2.1.rar from https://www.vpforums...&showfile=11663

Please use a unique name for the dB2S and the table, like for example: Cannon test.

Please apply the script from the Dozer's DMD and other Mods Table script change for Cirqus Voltaire (Bally 1997) night version.rtf as shown: Attached File  Dozer's DMD and other Mods Table script change for Cirqus Voltaire (Bally 1997) night version.PNG   46.48KB   6 downloads

Please open your table file manually after you started the vpinballx.exe without the help of a frontend usage.

The CV DMD versions are all with a working cannon shot and a spinning wheel. As the file sizes are very similar they neither work with a maybe wrong dB2S nor with a wrong script.

If this dB2S does work as expected you may like to try the day version too.

(Dozer's DMD or Mods table dB2S and script changes day version.zip)
