He meant portrait, trying it out in 2 hours once I am off work.

You will have to take dx11_settings.dat from The Pinball Arcade game folder where it gets placed by misstake by the configuration program and place it in My Games Pinball Arcade folder in your Documents.

Will be fixed in the next release but this is a workaround for now.

That was with before update.

more info:

There should be an update today, according to mike at farsight the config file is being saved to the steam folder.

quote from mike on http://pinballarcadefans.com

"I found a bug where the config utility was saving the settings file to the wrong location. I've fixed that and in this evenings build it should work properly.

A temporary work around is look for the dx11_settings.dat file, most likely in your pinball arcade steam installation and move it to your save file in My Games\Pinball Arcade.

This is why the back buffer is stuck in 1920x1080. Also why portrait isn't working for you.

Also note, the first 3 tabs on the config utility are for DX9 ONLY, they do not modify the settings for DX11, which is it's own tab. Once i have stuff like full screen working, I'll add that to the DX11 tab. "

Yep, read about that last night, I think we no longer need to do that. Hopefully they can then move the dmd soon and along with that mod being worked on, we should have terrific camera angles soon

Yeah, cross finger to them implement full CAB support. I know it can be done, have seen even videos of it on youtube. What is holding up? that is the question.

Easy answer: the work requires that each table needs to be set up to work in a cab environment and we are not talking about a 5 min job. They have a list of priorities and cab support is not at the top. In saying that, it used to be way down the list but ps4, xbone and now dx11 are coming off that list (though there is still work to do there lol). I think their next two priorities are: wii-u and Xbox 360, with also tournaments and I think they are adding something else but can't remeber (I think new UI). after that I think it's cab support. In the middle of all this, they need to put out a table every month. All of the above needs to consider income coming in, as farsight is not a big developer so that monthly $$$ coming in is important. Put in limited staff and the fact at some point in the past they lost one of their programs so the new hires have to be trained so that's lost productivity but I think they are back on track.

I really believe pincab support is coming though I am not certain their version of pincab support will please everyone. At the very least, I am hoping for a moveable dmd off screen and backglass support and plunger/nudging support. Anything else is gravy. Yes, I would love force feedback support but I will believe it when I see it.

Lots of people have a problem with the Low priority in pincab support. I don't, because I understand that is a feature that will probably benefit a few hundred people at most. There may be more than a few hundred pincab users but the reality is lots of people have publically stated they aren't a fan of TPA, some specifically stating paying for tables is a Nono for them. So although many DO support TPA, pincab support is not going to be a 1-1 ratio. You don't know how much I hope I am wrong with this assumption. So why do I believe it will come? Because although its a niche product, it's a good way to sell their product, just like racing games with support some cockpit only features. It's just not the high priority we'd like. Well, c'est la vie. At least we have our own solution to keep us going :)

Wow so much inside knowledge... damn it I knew you worked there. Release the CAB support Loaf!!! Don't be mean.

  :tongue3: :tongue3:

On a serious note:

I agree in some of what you said. BUT, this is a big but, CAB support must be a priority now that VPin is involved with them, haven't you seen the adds? Even a user (noExo) or soemthing like that, without the code of the game made a top view camera... so is very doable.... anyways, hope they get going in the idea of doing it.... in this Life. Not another Pro Pinball move lol

edit: typos, as always

I wish I worked there, just so I could play all their pins but also be their PR man. They seriously need a good communicator as They are lacking in this area

Did you need to rotate the desktop to portrait as well as in the DX11 back buffer setting?

Best Regards,

Todd.

You have to rotate your windows screen before hand, either via an app like Irotate or via the windows feature itself.

Thanks, Loafer!  I had hoped that they (Farsight) would have created a workaround for that issue, similar to the way VP and FP render FS tables currently.

as you might have seen in the vp10 thread, my take on the better lighting is now in.. not as awesome as the TPA one, but its a start..

lets see what the authors can make out of this ..

thats the good thing about pinsim competition nowadays.. TPA, Unit3D, FP/BAM, VP all have different ideas and concepts, so everybody can shine somewhere but still be inspired by the other ideas.. :)

Mechanical sounds are very nice in TPA. You can hear the ball bump into something. Would be great to have more of this as standard feature in VP10. I know it could be done already but as this is not automatically active unfortunately most authors do not care about it...
