Thank you, xenonph. This problem with the music playing, or not playing is a mystery.

I've tried removing the ".mp3" tag, manually moving the music files, even changing the default sound output in Audio Preferences from Default Sound driver to the Audigy2 ZS output, in which I can get all the sounds out from either, it's just that the music won't play. Is it possible I have to move the music into the folder that has the bumper sounds?

I agree its a mystery...

Maybe wait for someone with a little more experience, and maybe they will see something I haven't covered here, and they possibly will know what your music problem is.

Weird that the other tables that use music work for you,(NFL BENGALS), and these do not.

Somebody else here will know how to help you Sir. I have ran out of ideas.

Edit:

You should only have to move the mp3's to the music folder located where Visual Pinball is installed.

What bumpers sounds folder are you refering to?

Those sounds are usually embedded in the table and were imported through the sound manager in VP.

Those sounds are usually WAV files, not MP3's.

If you are refering to the "samples" folder, NO THE MUSIC DOES NOT GO IN THERE.

The Samples folder.

I do appreciate the help you did give me, xenonph. Thank you so much.

Just had another thought: because it was made for VP9.1.2, is it possible that it's not compatible with VP9.9.2? Just trying to eliminate the possibilities.....

Also, is there a link for the 311 table's music as well?

I think I hit the nail on the head with this one. I tried playing it in VP9.1.4 and it doesn't play the music, but unlike playing it in VP9.9.2, I could complete the loop shot, whereas in VP9.9.2, I couldn't. It would go halfway, going left to right, get near the gate at the top and the ball would stop and come back down the left side of the loop, like there was a rubber blocking the loopway in VP9.9.2. In VP9.1.4, I can complete the loop, left to right and vice-versa. Also, when you launch the ball in VP9.9.2, the ball gets hung up near the gate at the top near the jet bumpers and you have to nudge it to come out.

Thank you for the links, xenonph. Again, I appreciate it. :)

Is there a link anywhere to get VP9.1.2.? I'd like to test my hypothesis.

My hypothesis was right, to a point. The music still doesn't play, but the overall gameplay was greatly improved with vp912. I'm going to keep trying.

Haven't played this one in a while, so i gave it a whirl & noticed that in any version of VP9 that i tried the ball get's hung at the top when you launch it just like Tomcat Leader posted earlier. Anyone else having the same problem?

Would love to play this full screen with a nice db2s  :D

Same here.  If someone does the FS conversion, I'd be happy to add the UltraDMD code to play on a real DMD.  I'm working on the Rush table now, and had Def Leppard in my sights next, but would definitely do Van Halen first if there was a FS version.

Were you guys able to get the music to play? If so, how did you do it?

I'm feeling mighty stupid right now. After doing everything I could think of, something told me to look at the .exe's file location, so I did. The .exe's for VP8 and VP9 were IN THE FOLDER FOR VP X! I relocated the .exe's to their proper folder, and now all is cool in the land, MUSIC IS PLAYING! The tipoff: When I went into VP 8, StevOz's Gyruss Auto table wasn't playing music either. So I went into the file location, and sure enough, the location was VP X! I'm not exactly sure how the .exe's got in there, but now that I found the issue, all is good again. A big "Thank You" to xenonph for all his help, sorry it was my blunder for not looking at that in the first place.

Don't feel stupid, you aren't.

I am glad you posted here how you fixed your problem so if others have the same problem, they will know what to do to fix this.

Carry on Sir,

Thank you, xenonph. Still can't figure out how the VP .exe's got in the VP X folder. I guess that will remain an unsolved mystery. LOL

This is a nice table any chance it being upgraded to VPX  I wish I could do it myself. On my cabinet the ball moves at a even speed
