I've been playing with this for the last few days and I can't for the life of me figure how what you guys are doing differently!

I can mirror the DMD in Pinball Arcade if I make the game run in Fullscreen Window mode. In normal fullscreen the mirror window shows the desktop even when the game is running. Same problem with PinballFX2...

Any suggestions?

Wow I havent had that problem it has always mirrored the front running program for me.
There's so many settings in this program though it may be in one of the options somewhere do you have the full version?

I'm having that problem too. I did put it on the back burner at the moment since I think it is version related - the newest versions of Desktop Mirroring use hardware mirroring.

 

The faq says that it only works on W7 if the aqua theme is activated, and after doing so I got SlamIt to work. Well, almost, it mirrors a part of the playfield pretty close to the DMD

 

2matoes, can you give me the version number of the Desktop Mirroring you're using?

Few more things I've tried tonight...

Pinball Arcade works in Fullscreen Window, but then PinballX decides it isn't going to give focus. You can hear everything working and even the AHK script going through the tables, but the screen stays blank.

If I turn Hardware Mirroring off the Windows just goes white and does nothing.

Pinball Arcade running Fullscreen and the Mirror window goes white.

PinballFX2 running Fullscreen and the Mirror window is still showing the desktop.

This is with version 8.11 (in Trial mode).

I tried the older V8 ("acquired version") and exactly the same issue.

I'm running Windows 8.1 if that helps.

I'm running Actual Window Manager 7.4.3 on windows 7 64bit and it works perfectly

This is a very crappy video about my set up ill make a better one in the morning I forgot to mention that I use xpadder to automatically remap my controls for each system. Any way you get the basic idea i hope!

Actual Window Manager instead of Actual Muliple Monitors.

I'll try that. If no luck then do I blame Win8.1 or the current NVidia drivers?

I've been playing some Future Pinball tables with FutureDMD and I'm getting used to having the DMD in the right place. I wish Zen would get off their arse and give us a movable DMD. Talk of a cab mode for over a year and still nothing

EDIT: Different PC tried Actual Windows Manager and get exactly the same result. Tried a few different games and they all do the same thing. So I'm blaming Windows 8 at this stage.

EDIT 2: Windows Magnifier does the same thing...

No, it ain't W8 this time. I have the same Problem with W7.

 

And Actual Windows Manager v7 doesn't seem to work either.

 

My guess is Nvidia drivers.

 

@2matoes: Can you post your version of nVidia drivers?

Sure I just updated to 334.89 but the version before work fine as well.

Guys try uninstalling and completely removing all files from the registry manually if you have tried a newer version that doesn't work.

Then install Actual Window Manager 7.4.3 which is the complete suit that includes multiple monitors. You only need the complete suit if you want to be able to save the position of the mirror window on start up otherwise multiple monitors will work fine but is a pain in the ass to set up after each restart.

Just spent an hour with this myself - same result desktop is seen but not the game.

Win7 64 and ver 7.4.3, but I am sure its just some crazy window rule we are missing?.

I messed with setting the PBFX2 window class as both ignored and also the target window - did not work but the settings are not super clear so I was basically forest gumping about.

 

One interesting thing is if you set the area to be monitored above the PinballX menu then that will display?, wonder if you need to set explorer and PinballX to be ignored?.

Maybe I just need to RTFM?.

@2martoes any chance of some screenshots of your settings?.

Got it working in PinballFX2 - seems aero was confusing it, switched to windows basic theme and it works.

Not got it working in PA but to be honest I do not play it much nowadays.

 

It seems that you can not flip the display window so one of your screens needs to be in portrait mode.

That`s not a problem if you have 3 screens but for me with a DMD that will mean going back to the old way of flipping screen one for PBFX2.

In the video below you will see I rotated screen two 270" to get the display window into the correct orientation, but that of course messed up the translite image.

Now if only the display window could be made borderless it would be perfect.

Got it auto loading quite cleanly in pinballX.

How did you solve the Problem with the window borders and menu bar? I have a 2 screen setup and would love to place a borderless clone-DMD window on my backglass.

Unfortunatly the borders are still there, just changed them to black within the windows basic theme settings.

 

I now realise that from my earlier attempts to get this to work I still have the window class for PBFX2 and PBA set in the "target" window field if that helps anyone else struggling with this?.
