Cool. I'm going to start stocking grill material, lift channels, H channels,  speakers, amps and DMD's. Sorry you had to be the guinea pig lol

Here's a quick update: got grills installed on the speaker panel today. Got 'em from Action Pinball if anyone's looking in the meantime :)

More progress today. Got the call from Joanns that my playfield mat was ready. Had to trim about 1/8" off of each side and cut a notch out for the backbox electronics cables, but otherwise it's a huge improvement, especially with the glass on(!)

Some phone pics:

looks good, you should print out some of the hyperpin instruction cards and put them at the front  of your matte to balance things out.

Made some more progress today. Got lighted start and exit buttons installed, brackets on the speaker panel and the all-important PinGulp drink holder!

Still waiting on lift channel for my plexi - need to cut and tint that still. Then I just need my DMD (on preorder from VirtuaPin) and PinDMD2 and this sucker will be pretty much done.

I used a Westinghouse 39 inch in my standard body cab..it fit perfectly..

Westinghouse - 39" Class (38-1/2" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - 60Hz - HDTV Model: EW39T6MZ

Graphics are excellent..

Rob

I used this same monitor. Fits like a glove in a standard body. This was a Space Shuttle.

plexi doesn't get too hot for use for a back glass?

I'd think lexan would have been the way to go

but hey if it works...

This is my first post - I like your build! What size is your upper LCD? It looks like a good fit.

And the Joann mat, is it just regular framing mat or did they do something to the glass?

Thanks for the pics and progress updates!

Thanks! The backglass LCD is the Hannspree 28" basketball TV (http://www.amazon.co.../dp/B008CQ81MS/) Decased, obviously :) That monitor is nice because it's a 16:10 aspect ratio so it gives you a little more height than a standard 16:9 display.

The mat from Joann is a regular framing mat. The only thing I had them do "special" was to reverse the beveled cut so you don't see the white edge from the black side. If you're going to go with this, wait until they do a sale. I got mine 60% off or something like that so it only cost about $30. Other thing I would suggest is subtracting 1/8" from  your measurement of the inside of the cabinet so it'll be a better fit.

Looking like my PinDMD and Vishay DMD will be in soon so I should have some more progress updates soon.

Moving along nicely. Keep up the good work. btw. can someone point me to the hyperpin instruction cards? I've also got some spare room on lcd cover which I'd love to decorate.

PinDMD and Vishay LEE128G032-R red DMD successfully installed last night. Spent a few hours resizing backglasses in FP after I got it running to remove the DMD and speaker panel graphics from the backglass LCD screen.

Currently backing up my hard drive so I don't have to do this all again if it fails :) a few photos of the DMD in action below.
