Over at AA , Like and Thank posts were added and it works quite well. You can only chose one option and it has names.
Moderators can jump on anyone abusing it, so no problems.

VP and FP are not pinball either. No, just no. I don't see anything positive coming from it. It would turn into a meta popularity contest to see who can get the highest. That ain't pinball.
And I hardly see any sort of popularity contest springing up with the current number of active authors.
If it brought in new authors, great! Even if all they are doing it for is "fame". The more authors the better.
I like to have an idea of the quality of a table prior to downloading it. This is not say I won't download tables others may not find to their liking. But,...
I think having a "Like" button is a great idea. It is a subtle way to point out the tables that may be better than others. A ratings system would absolutely horrible.
I do admit that there are some authors work I download very little of. But I do have something by every VP author here (I think). Authors improve and sometimes just get lucky. It would be great to highlight those works that deserve it.
I like a polite, community-based way of saying "I like this, you might too".
Just my humble opinion.

Positive and negative for posts. If you think you're the only one in the right, you'll know. It might even be a reason to shut up (depending on the person), if no one agrees with you.
Save the likes for table downloads.

I think we should have a Hot or Not section.
We already do, I don't think we can vote on it though... It's Yogi's site where he keeps all the photos we submit to him.

I voted for "Positive and Negative Reputation, No Names"
The "Like" is just for that one post and not a persona rating.
"Reputation" is a reflection of a persona.
Voting at a political election is anonymous and ensures a result free from pressure to comply. (No names option)
Positive and negative, give a way of others to say what they really think of the person, without enabling a flame war, because it is anonymous.
One proviso.... a vote should expire 3 months after it was cast. This ensures that the person is not either praised or tarnished forever, for one or two past events.
It gives good feed back to the individual to either keep up the good work or adjust thier ways accordingly.
We live in a world where we our kids win or lose at sport or school work. We are teaching our kids there are no pass or fail results. That's not the reality though.
Even though I can see "Positive and Negative Reputation, No Names" has the lowest vote, I truly think its the fairest and gives honest feed back for all.

In a larger community with a ton of activity and more people than anyone could ever get to know, I think a rep system works.
I see this as a pretty tight knit community with very few daily contributors, a few more regular contributors and, quite a few, but not a lot of semi-regular contributors.
There are a pretty good number of registered users, but a lot of them are mostly inactive, or very occaisonally active, the "how do i get this to work" people who don't post much once their problems are solved etc. I just don't really see a benefit to it all. Those that are here all the time, and the regular table authors are well known.

People troll and get immature and butthurt here just like in other forums. Those systems only cause more problems while not actually adding anything really useful. (like this one would probably be flagged negative, even though it is really only speaking thruth).

problem I see with a like, dislike button is some people who have been banned
may have a personal vendetta against one builder and may continue to vote that person down constantly
or may just hate one guy/gal and will do anything to bring down their rep
but for the actual table download sure why not have a like, dislike vote for the actual table play
NOT the author but the pin itself would get voted on
I don't really go by what others say though it is just like a tv commercial
it may LOOK good but until played one never knows if one likes that particular pin or not
I rarely download or not just from reading others opinions of the pin though
as everyone's tastes are so vastly different; you may love the pin while I may hate it
so I download it then play it to form my OWN opinion of it
but a voting system may say that the majority likes the pin
and that may be enough to sway someone into playing a pin
that may have otherwise been overlooked if it weren't for the votes on it

I voted none, but if we have to have one then I vote keep it positive only. People can be very sensitive. You know, bat and ball and all that. Why even go there?
Were not downloading gigs worth here so just download and try it. If its good then theres plenty of ways to say thanks. If it sucks then just delite it.
What I have noticed is that very few people hate on a table here and rightly so. Why would you want to flame something thats free and has been created for you, even if its woeful. Go to Pinsim and look at some of the comments. No wonder authors give up over there.
Mini pin maker

I still cant believe that we have

i think its a matter of what the function of reputation is...its kind of vague and doesn't serve much of a purpose.
I like the idea of having people be able to express gratitude for help/liking comments, but really would be against negative marks, etc as another poster has mentioned. Remarkably I havent seen any flamewars, etc here and posters seem to be fairly regular... so things seem to be working as is.

I think that Like button and positive reputations will go a long way. However, it will also work like a double edged sword. If somebody begs for likes then I say that the Censors and Moderators of this site will repramand the moocher for acting like a lechous changling. On the other hand, with enough hard work then somebody can be a legend on this very site.
