The game industry does not always place the term "HD" with HD resolutions. For example, most games meant for the ipad were "HD" versions of existing games on the iphones, but they actually weren't "HD" in resolutions. Also perhaps they want to support the direct interpretation of HD, so 1920x1080, a necessary step if they want to move onto consoles and their definitioin of "HD".

yeah, you can play the original PP series in high res but an update of those tables with better higher resolutions textures would be a cool way of bringing them to new fans and determine if there is a market for them. If they actually bother with anything FS related for the PC, they'll have no choice to update their art assets less their games seem very low res (even if running in higher res). Its the same if we take a very nice looking pacdude VP8 table and just make it fit into an FS table, the table may run at a higher res, but the textures will look caca most of the time smile.gif. I think even a nice desktop view using new textures would be a nice upgrade.

I don't think that whole "HD" gimmick or alternate definition does or ever has apply to PC for obvious reasons. Or even console for that matter, because its pretty cut & dried. Anything before 360/PS3 = Not HD. Everything after = HD. So this wasn't really something I noticed until recently with tablets & phones, where I've seen some games lately get the HD tag slapped on them once getting, for example, an update for the iPad retina display. I guess it works there, because before iPad3 the total # of pixels was less than what you get with 1280x720 (720p), so technically that is an HD upgrade I guess.

But really, these days shouldn't every new game just be assumed that it is HD? I mean, once Wii-U comes out (or is it already out?), there will simply be no current gaming platforms that DON'T do HD. All it does is confuse certain ppl anyhow, so hopefully they do away with tagging stuff with HD.

Yes of course if they will be updating their textures & things. I can't imagine why they wouldn't. & I've already seen proof that they have. & I'm fairly certain that this announcement will include FS support, or they will at least be working towards that. I think in this age of 3D it really should be easy enough for any pinball game to go FS. Same with TPA if they can ever get it released on PC. I've always gone on record saying that FS doesn't do much for me, but if the PP guys are going FS then that could just be nice enough to actually make me rotate the old monitor every now & then! Hopefully they can do it well enough & maybe include some layback type options to go with it.

I am really tired Rob, and my brain won't be doing any clicking tonight! What's your theory? Here is mine...... smile.gif

I am thinking maybe they might initially release the original tables TS, FJ and BRUSA with just an update to HD resolution (they were close already), and portrait mode for cab players - prob single screen. I reckon there is no new Engine and this kind of release will test the water to see if there is an appetite for new tables.

We have now announced our plans on www.pro-pinball.com, and I'm pleased to confirm all FIVE tables will support 1080*1920 portrait mode, with pixel perfect pre-rendered graphics.

Waaaait a minute...here it says "October 2013" for the new Pat Lawlor table...that's a little discouraging. I thought that Pro Pinball was almost ready...at least, I hope the remastered series will come sooner...

Just one question: will the remastered tables of The Web and Timeshock have the background music with them? I have the originals and can get NO music to play. FJ and BRUSA have the music, but the other two don't.
‎"Compassion hurts. When you feel connected to everything, you also feel responsible for everything. And you cannot turn away. Your destiny is bound with the destinies of others. You must either learn to carry the Universe or be crushed by it. You must grow strong enough to love the world, yet empty enough to sit down at the same table with its worst horrors." - Andrew Boyd

Timeshock not only has music, but some of the most incredible music in pinball history. Same with the Web. Amazing music. Let me guess, you either bought these from a place like GOG, or you are launching them without the game disc or mounting an ISO?

I've shared a few times on this site how I do things. You need to remember how old the first 2 games are. Those CD's have actual CD music. Music isn't bundled onto your HDD during an install. What I do is mount the ISO for each game when I play them. But the ISO's need to be created properly or else this won't work. If you need more explanation, see if you can find one of my old posts on this subject where I've walked others through this same thing, let me know if you can't find them. Or just pop in the CD when you want to play.

I continue to be steaming mad at GOG for only only releasing Timeshock without one of its more important elements (Music), but to only package the DOS version. The DOS version also looks & plays worse than the windows version, so for years now I spend time trying to talk people out of skimping & going with the inferior DOS version.

I think The Web and Timeshock played the background music directly from the CD. If you have a downloaded copy then you won't get the music for those tables.

No new site for me. I just get a redirect to the same old silverball studios site.

Yes this announcement is what I expected, somewhat. I thought a new table might be coming but I certainly wasn't positive about it like I was about the remakes, I knew those were happening. I had no idea that the whole kickstarter thing needed to happen first. That is kind of a bummer. I'm honestly sick of kickstarters. They don't even have licensing to deal with & have obviously made many games in the past without kickstarter. I would just rather support a company by buying their product & spreading the word. There is only so many times I can give helpful amounts to a game kickstarter when I already struggle to pay bills sometimes.

With the whole cabinet thing. From my understanding, they have some limitations on this since they are sticking with pre-rendered tables. So what people will get in cabinet mode (what they call portrait) is basically the hybrid view I've talked about on here. you'll get the same views as in desktop mode, but they will just fit the screen better in portrait.
They say it should look nice in a cabinet though, but maybe don't expect it to come across like VP FS does or fill the screen. Or, maybe you can fill the screen but what you get is what the current PP tables offer which is an overhead 2D view, but I'm not sure how many ppl would like that.

Yes, but I don't see why everybody doesn't just buy the CD's. I think they are still selling the entire 4 pack for like $10 on amazon. Needless to say it is worth paying that to get music on those tables. & then some.

The only limitation that comes with pre-rendering is the fixed number of different viewing angles. But we will be rendering a specific cabinet view for portrait mode that will look as close as possible to a real table in front of you, it will certainly fill the entire screen. When the time comes, we'll be happy to share some test renders here to get feedback on what looks best.

So another pinball project on Kickstarter. This time, however, by a company I have very good experience with. And yet... bloody Kickstarter doesn't accept anything but AmazonPayments, and they only accept credit cards, which are kind of rare in Germany - nobody really uses them, we all go cash or debit most of the time. So I can't even support this. This annoyed the hell out of me with other projects too, and they haven't changed jack so far. I at least hope they'll put up a donate option on their home page that will amount to the same thing as on Kickstarter.

I will send them an email for an alternative solution...you are right. I can't put money on Kickstarter too.
