wow! An original from the great JP
I thought all you did were the recreations
but this one looks like one of those anyhow
what wit all those neat toys on the play field
great job, so does this mean we can expect more originals from you?
cool.gif thanks for yet another fantastic pin

Great work as always JP, glad you got to make an original. I remember you saying you wanted to try one. There's a feeling you get from an original that you just don't get with a recreation. Worship.gif dblthumb.gif

Yes, there is a special feeling to make an original, even if the layout and the rules were exactly 100% mine. I still feel that I don't know much about real pinball, that's why I prefer to make recreations, but usually I don't care if the table plays like the original as long as it plays fine, all the shots are possible and we can have fun playing it smile.gif

I don't think I'll make more originals, or better said, I don't think I'll sit down think of a layout, theme, sounds, music, etc by myself. By if someone has a theme and a layout (even if it is just a sketch on paper), with music and sounds, with a series of rules, and he/she needs a builder, then I'll be more than happy to make it smile.gif Until then is back to recreations (I just love recreations, at least they were made by professionals smile.gif )

top work as always... wink.gif

now its time for the bad things, and bug feedback : not sure how the EXTRA BALL works on this table, but get the EB at 3rd ball (than light it & collect it), but when 3rd ball drained, no EB was given, i got the GAME OVER...

Hmmm... I'm obliged to ask; what's to stop a lazy player from locking three balls in the whirlwind, holding the fourth on the flipper and going off down the pub?

You should all thank your lucky stars that creators like JP are still around, because come the autumn and LCD screens are in common pinball use, they won't be adequately PinMAMEable any more; this is the ONLY way any new machines are ever going to be recreated from then on.

Well, the original POTC has a timer which releases the balls. But in this table the balls are released when all the lights are lit, and with three balls it doesn't take long smile.gif

Yes, the script is the same in both tables.

About the extra ball, it does seem to work, at least I can't reproduce it.

I don't know - we got the Mr.Game machines working, and Baby PacMan, Caveman, and Granny Gators, so an LCD might actually be easier to emulate than a DMD. smile.gif

But the LCD games are useing X86 based pc's and windows / VP / pinmame may be to slow to get timing that works. That's why pin2k is still not in pinmame.

This is a great game and since I play POTC at my arcade this is a good alternative. My only question is why is the default high score 5,000,000 as I beat this on my first and second games scoring 21,000,000 and 18,000,000 respectively.

Thanks JP. This table is really fun to play. I'll periodically post any bugs I find in this release thread unless you want them personally sent to your e-mail address instead. I'll post the first bug here.

Once you defeat the captain, the 2 sound samples, "vo_captaindefeated" and "vo_fightkraken" overlap one another.
Changing "KrakenDelay" from 20 to 50 in the CheckCaptain Sub will fix this.

Exactly, and P2K was over ten years ago. We're well past the point now where a couple of 68000s can adequately handle everything on a pinball machine. It's like VP; good results require a lot more than just the bare-bones editor now.
