Lots of good food for thought here. Thanks everyone!
I might just bite the bullet and try making an angle independant table (SuperSonic), Just to see if I am pleased with the results.
If I am not ultimatly happy with the results, I can always go back to my beloved emreels....

OBTW.....
The only reason I didn't mention Future Pinball is that it still doesnt have rom emulation, and coding a real life table to act just like the rom version is a LOT of work! Just check out the code for Eight Ball Champ in FP.
I manged to get it pretty close to the real machine, but not quite. It has some quite complex light sequences that are VERY difficult to replicate.

That's good news Kurt! You want to make new tables again! I still consider you as one of my "teachers" (together with Eala, PD, TAB, destruk ++) Which tables? Just do them the way you like. I still play only 4:3 tables. Whatever you choose I still win, since I'll be playing them either if they are made with reels or with walls

Hi Scapino,
I'm also a fan of your tables (although I had quite a hard time to get them to work properly on my old rigs). The quality of your tables was lightyears ahead of everyone and had to be seen to be believed. I can remember the first time I got Circus Voltaire to work, I just sat there looking in awe at the screen. I recently changed my setup to play FS tables (although I can also still 4:3), I love the way this shows of the art of the table. For maximum flexibility I would like to see angle indepent tables, especially for the 4:3 view. That way everybody can set them up like they want. I for example like to change the view angle in 4:3 to more match a FS table. Can't wait to see what magic you get out of VP 9.12! Slam23
Did you know that "playing pinball" is called "flipperen" in Dutch? Now you know and may your life be enriched by this arcane knowledge....

I think you should do it the way you have more fun in making tables. I guess in your case it’s with EMreels... I know it takes months just for one table, but all the tables you did this way before are unique! And it’s the Scapino’s method
Between 16:9 and 4:3, I don’t know, I personally prefer 16:9 but it’s because I have a 16:9 monitor

It's great to see you back building again Kurt. I agree that you should build what you want. You have many great tables in the past.
However , with so many different formats, WS , FS , and 4:3, angle independent can easily be adjusted so that you're not having to do 3 different versions. Also people like to adjust the view to suit their taste, even FS users adjust their tables to suit their own viewing preferences.
I voted angle independent, but it's totally your call.
hey kurt i love your em reel tables. if you want to do transparent pegs without the alpha you can set them to solid and they will still be transparent. check my fathom table to see what i mean

Definitely continue with your 'trademark' rendered style; nobody else does this any more. It's all very well stressing the importance of realistic angle-indepedent objects, but the build community as a whole still needs that baseline of truly 'realistic' image quality to inspire and drive us forward in making our own advances.
make any of them you want as long as they are of Cirqus Voltaire quality! That pin is one of my faves! all the action in it, the colors, the changeable ramp color is cool too! and it plays fantastic! a little too much rendering for my older tower but in this one it plays with no stuttering at all!

Oh, I didn't read all the previous posts and I never asked for any table before, but it was great if you could find interests in making a Scapino version of Monster Bash, whatever kind/style!

If there was an option in the poll for none of above I would have selected that.
The problem is there are a hand full of design masters like yourself. I have noticed a trend starting to happen where these masters lose interest, or become demotivated, or other reasons. The gaps between their table releases increases. Eventually they stop, taking a wealth of expertise with them. This is a natural progression. It happens in all walks of life.
It's time for the masters to train some apprentices and leave a true ongoing legacy.
Some time ago I encouraged you to make some tutorial videos. You did make a few for which I was grateful. The format needed some tweaking, but you were getting there.
Can I encourage you to make lots of small videos demonstrating techniques you have developed. Instead of a long video, they could be broken down into small well titled segments. This way the task is not so daunting, and the videos are easier to edit etc. Not only this it would mean the viewers could only watch the parts that they needed.
Personally I think you and some others have already reached your pinnacle of excellence, and producing yet more tables doesn't enhance that. You next stage should be leaving a lasting legacy through the next generation of table designers.
Maybe I over dramatized it a bit, but I'm sure you will see my point.
Anyhow, that's just my opinion.
Regards Benny
EDIT: There are skills we all take for granted and think that others already know. Like the Master who shows the apprentice the correct way to hold a chisel. A seemingly obvious task. Yet these are the skills I am encouraging you to pass on.
EDIT: If you or any other do start making new videos tutorials, can I strongly suggest using Cam studio and not those static page screen capture programs, as they are not as comprehensive.
I only play VP FS tables (recreations only) Please make your future tables in this format. Your tables are great I would love to play the FS versions of them!
My wish list is: Popeye Saves the Earth FS Rocky and Bullwinkle (Data East) FS Hook (Data East) FS Simpsons (Data East) FS Robocop (Data East) 1990 FS Corvette (Williams) FS Star Wars Episode 1 (Williams Pinball 2000!) FS Last Action Hero (Data East) FS
My 55 inch TV is mounted to the wall and can be turned vertical (90 degrees) sound is played over THX certified 7.1 speaker sytem, yeah baby!

Wow JP! I figured you must have started playing FS tables because since I started updating my collection & hyperpin setup I saw so many updated versions of your tables for FS! I used to adjust them for my own personal use into FS, but, I must admit it is really nice to have your official FS version!
So just a big thanks to you for doing that, when obviously it is just a gesture of goodwill on your part! Thanks!
Also, despite the fact I play FS tables, I do so on a rotated monitor, so, it is always nice to play a 4x3 or 16x9 rendered Scapino table when my monitor isn't sideways and I'm too lazy to rotate it! Although I don't think a 16x9 landscape rendered table exists just yet?
So I guess I'm happy with whatever decision you choose. Angle independent I can rotate to FS or I can enjoy the rendered tables in landscape mode. Although I'm usually playing FS the most, it is hard to give it up once you get your first 'taste'. hehe

Edit: Aww crap, I misread the date & thought this was a lot newer than it actually is... OOPS! Oh well, I bumped it so I might as well leave it... 'Hangs head in shame' hehe
