anybody get a 'pinball meditation error script line 30'? using the cab version?

I'll take a look later when I'm at home, but I don't think line 30 does anything. Maybe loads a font.
Do you get the error on table startup?
Have you got all the lib files in the same directory as the table?

Glxb

yes, immediately on startup. line 30 is DispDmd1.AddFont 1, "dmd05x05p"
I had all the fpl files in the library folder, so i copied to the table directory, but same error....

Thats a standard FP font, does this only happen with the cab one, or do the other versions work?

GLXB

Check your libraries folder in future pinball, you should have a file called fpDmdFonts.fpl size 58k.

GLXB

happens with all versions and i have the fpDmdFonts.fpl in both the libraries and tables folder.

Really don't understand whats going on there then, all its doing at that point is loading a standard FP font.

GLXB

that sucks. i cant comment out the lines, cuz then i get the undefined error.....gorgeous looking table....bummer i cant play....such is life i suppose.

Only thing I can think is that somehow your lib file is corrupt, its happened to me before. You could try reinstalling FP.

Glxb, when I was experimenting with the larger 128 x 32 font, I found you could not display other fonts on the DMD at the same time, with fonts larger than 32 x 32 - did you find a way to overcome this issue?

If you mean two fonts that are larger than 32 x 32 then I never tried, but if you just mean another standard size font on top then I found no problems.
For example the raven bar video mode uses a 128 x 32 font for the background another font for the gun and bad guys, a third font for the lives left and bad guys shot, and a forth font for the end score.
You have to make sure you reset the font number and x and y in the script.

ah, ok. I might take another look at my animation system in that case. Would it be useful to you?

FrankT - when I was experimenting with the FP DMD I discovered that although the in built editor only allows fonts of 32 x 32, you can create a DMD font with a much larger size, such as 128 x 32, and FP will accept it. You have to use an external app to make them, which is Toxie's DMDpaint program which he adapted so it could be used to load screens from pinmame, and export them into FP. I must say I am super impressed with what these guys have done with what I discovered! very happy to see it in action smile.gif

Personally i just adapted what you had done in the DMD demo tables you did for my own needs and added a few flags that are called and am very happy with the way its working.
Some people may find your more indepth system useful though.
Thanks again for what you discovered.

Hopefully I'll get around to doing a small guide to help others, as I'm sure many authors look at it and are convinced its hard to do.
Once you have DMDPaint and a version of pinmame that dumps the DMD it couldn't be easier. Yes it can be time consuming if you have to edit out the scores, but it really is quite simple.

You will be seeing thanks to you and Toxie on just about all my tables from now on.

cool, I'd be happy to help if you need it. I guess now people see it being used to such good effect they will give it a go. I know the guys who made the T2 table were keen to put the real DMD into their table.

The animation system I wrote was a kind of extension to the one FP currently uses, adding extra things like having things move left / right up or down etc. You can have the code if you want, it works, I just got stuck with the fonts not resetting properly, maybe you could take a look and get that part working?
