Wow! This FS version is simply the best. This is my favorite modern era game. It's unbelievable what you have done with VP over the last 5 or so years. The table plays smooth and is just a visual masterpiece. Why someone hasn't snagged you up to make ps3 and Xbox pinball games is beyond me. Thanks again for such an outstanding table.

You have discovered an Easter egg. Pat yourself on the back.

Yes, this is a wide body table, so the ball will look smaller, but it is the same size
Ok so what factors impact the ball size? In tables like Airborne, the ball is huge. In tables like this and star trek it's small. In IJ (also another wide body) the ball is sort of large. I actually prefer the small ball size in this table. The flippers are sized smaller as well. The whole playfield is larger. It makes sense. But looking at the table dimensions comparing airborne (huge ball) and this (small ball) there really isn't that much difference in dimensions to account for a doubly sized ball. I believe both tables use the default ball size based on the fact that I do not see this in the scripts, so what does control this?
The table size controls it.
The standard ball has a height and width of 50. If a table is not 1000x2000, but 2000x4000 the Ball will Be half the Size of a Standard Table.
The world is devided into people who think they are right.

Yeah thats why i like UW's tables sooo much he use's massive sized balls for his table recreations, no other authors seem to do that. I guess you have to start off with the large UW sized ball and then build the table around it, otherwise if you try and increase the size of the ball later on it might not get through the gates and ramps etc. JP would you consider using large sized balls for your future releases?

Uncle Willie may have massive balls, but that's about all that makes sense from your post.
You can use a brighter ball and it will appear bigger than a darker ball.
I thought I had pretty big balls, but I guess not.

UncleWilly has the biggest balls of them all....... So I've heard.
Here is where I get confused... Didn't UW make his Flintstones FS from JP's VP8 Flintstones? And now, I would assume that JP made his new VP911 Flinstones based off his own VP8 Flintstones as well.... Why then is UW's Flintstone ball so much larger than JP's Flintstone ball? Whew...

Unfortunately, this response ignored where I said in airborne, for example, the table size was basically the same. Airborne, with huge ball, is 1000x2000. Road Show, with very small ball is 1175x2264. Certainly that small difference doesn't explain a huge vs small ball. Also, Airborne's size bigger than bally game show (1000x1964) and bally game show's ball is smaller. Maybe airborne was created with vp8? Is there a way to convert the ball to vp9 ball without redoing the whole table?

Untill VP9.10, there was no way of making bigger balls other than making the table dimensions smaller so the ball appeared bigger and keeping the tallest wall not so tall as this pushes the entire table down and makes everything smaller in appearance.

So in the latest VP release you can now change the size of the balls without having to make the dimensions of the table smaller to give the illusion of making the ball bigger??, if so I never knew that. But if that's the case, say you have all but finished the table but then decide that you want to make the ball larger would you also have to scale up other parts of the table to accommodate the increased size of the ball?

Yeah all this talk of balls is making me uncomfortable haha. But I think in the case of fullscreen vp tables we all agree that the bigger the balls are the better!, it throws me off my game going from a table that has a large ball to one that has a marble sized one, but still doesn't take away from the enjoyment I and I guess everyone else gets from JP's tables. Hopefully JP's balls might grow with future releases and updates, sorry I now have to wash myself haha

Yes, you can now create a ball with a different size than just the one size that was available in the past , but it would become physically bigger if it's larger, this would mean it would get stuck. There are lots of good reasons why this feature was added, you can actually use the ball object for other stuff on a table, like some plungers are made with ball objects, now you can make bigger objects with a ball. You could use it for Cue Ball Wizard to create a real large ball, instead of faking it. You can make the ball a little smaller and all of the old VP8 and earlier tables would then work in VP9.
I can't answer Rawd's question as I don't have the other tables.

So I played Road Show today at my friend's house (the real machine). And the shaker motor goes off and does cause a loud ruckus and tends to shake the whole machine, but it does not have any impact on the movement of the ball. In this table, the shaker motor moves the ball around like magnets. While this is neat, it's not at all like that in the real game. Any chance of removing the shaker motor impact on the ball in an update? (I'll probably look into solving this myself for myself if not).

I don't agree that the bigger balls are better. The ball needs to be scaled to be correct based on the size of the table. In the case of this table and star trek, the ball is the correct size. Making it artificially bigger would ruin it.

Hey-a BB.
Check for this lines in the script which are the nudges applied when the Buldozer roars:
Sub ShakeTimer_Timer()
Nudge 0, 1
Nudge 90, 1
Nudge 180, 1
Nudge 270, 1
End Sub
+ for the argument on the ball size btw!

My screen is smaller, 32". I'm sure the ball size isn't as much of an issue on a bigger screen. It looks really tiny on mine.
If there could be a happy medium, that would be nice.

my opinion : the best looking, playable balls are the one like in ' the simpsons pinball party ' on a 37 inch screen this roadshow ball looks too small ( it may have the correct size but visualy it's not like a real machine )
You don't fit a williams wide-body onto a small 37" screen and expect everything to look ok. If it looked ok at that size, the original table would have been on a 37" diagonal playfield. Something's got to give. I believe a 37" screen is just too small for this stuff anyway (I have a 46" and it looks pretty good).

Yea, it's nice if money is not an object and you can afford a 46" screen just for pinball. The discussion can go the other way as well. We are talking about a program where the size of the table can be controlled. Not every table is going to be a perfect recreation.

It's more the wife doesn't understand spending money for all of this new technology for me. She says, "There's nothing wrong with the TVs we already have."
I have a 23" WS that I bought for under 200$ at Sam's club for my pc, but I have been secretly planning for the future. I bought a 37" WS HDTV for the den and it has a pc input on it. I also just bought a 19" WS HDTV for the bedroom and it also has the pc input.
