Put a table in the c directory, an change it to just name.vpt eg bop.vpt. Launch the program. Use the cursor keys and select run. Load doesn't work yet.

Holy cow Cupid!
This is great news! :-D

Does this DX9 support increase the ball movement as for now you almost get motion trails/ghosting effect when it moves fast?

Keep it up!

The screen shots look very interesting. smile.gif

Will VPPlayer need .Net framework installed to use it and if so what version? My OS is XP SP3 BTW.

Thanks in advance.

The ball ghosting/blur effect is something nanotech coded into vp.
This is not playable at this point. It will take some time before this is at a playable state.

Hi barry,

what tables did not work and what happened? Have you installed xna redist first? You also need .net 4.0 client profile. And this is an older version. You need to copy a table to c:\ and rename it bop.vpt... I have not written a file selection yet.

@spacehaust: Stay cool... This is only a 3d presentation of tables. Miles away from being played.

@liteuser: yes, .net 4.0 client profile and xna redist (google for it). I'm working with xpsp3, too. But under win 7 it also works. Just tested at my fathers comp.

@all: anyone got less than 60 in the Window title? Thats something like the frame rate. What are your system specs?

I want to wet myself too, but I can't get it to run. unknw.gif

I had an older version of xna on here along with the 4.0 version. I uninstalled everything, downloaded xna framework 4.0 and .net framework 4.0 and still have a crash. I made a simple table and saved it to C:\ and named it bop.vpt. So I am at a lose, here is the report I get.

Here is my system specs.
Windows XP with SP3 (32 bit)
AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3200+ (2.21 GHz with 1 GB RAM)
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS (believe it has 256 MB RAM)

Guess I'll have to wait on that golden shower. sad.gif

@ Cupid:

-some rendering errors in my high speed 1.0.1, ie bumper caps missing, apron missing etc
-speed drops below 60 once in a while to low 50 when I'm switching to another application or 20-30 if I load another application on my 3.0Ghz core2duo, 8gb ram, and nVidia GTS250 w/1Gb ram...

@Cupid, send me a PM if you want more info/details

Hope this development continues! tup.gif

Yeah i would like to know this aswell, as i notice the ghosting all the time i did think it was LCD display releated.

So what does all this mean......VP is going 3D like FP??

This is no dx9 support for VP - its completely rewritten... Everything is new. It's even done in another programming language. I don't know if the balls will tear, stutter, flash or blink, since i have not yet programmed balls. Please dont ask for features here. I try to program it as near as possible to the current engine, so that most of the tables work.

Just think of it as a 3d Table viewer for now. Don't think it can do other things as you see. Everything other is far, far in the future, but if the viewer works (with decent fps), a player may be possible. To program a 3d Engine without knowing, what will be displayed with it, is hard and new to me... In fact i have barly programmed 3D in the past. I don't know if i will ever get this to work with good fps. I have major problems with depth sorting now... That will maybe decrease the fps. You can't compare a non professional 3d Environment with several objects, with ones that are especially precalculated for a certain engine, where you know what textures are displaying which 3d Objects and you know where the objects will be placed.

about ball stuttering:
Nothing is "coded" to tear the ball in original VP imho... What I saw in the code: What nanotech did was blurring the outline of image of the ball, so that it looks better in full hd. If the ball has tearing, it would have tearing without the blurring. Since alpha channels for balls are used it may be that a better graphic card is needed than before. I have absolutely no tearing at my machine. HD render and Blit is on. I have a 500-600 Euros PC that i have bought just for programming VP, since i use macs for daily use. Before that i have played VP in virtual Machines and ball stuttering and tearing was OK but not perfect there.
