tiny update for this week. glass is ordered, will be here next week. T moulding installed to other side of the head. standard buttons wired up.

currently sourcing shaker and solenoids this week.

Spent the day getting a ledwiz+gp working perfectly in both Hyperpin and VP. bit of a nightmare to start with but with some different key assignments its all working.

trick was as follows:
in hyperpins settings.ini I removed all the entries for the pinball wizard device, also removed the line in the keyboard settings for Genre (don't use it and was giving issue with the enter key). then mapped in the settings.ini file the UP and Down keys (left and right scroll in Hyperpin) to the left and right arrow keys (37,39).

the in Xpadder (free version), I mapped the left flipper button to both left shift and left arrow, and the right flipper to button to right shift and right arrow.

save all your settings and ini files, and working perfectly.

I like the outside texturing on your cabinet. Looks sweet! biggrin.gif

I could have been smart, but I never learned anything by being smart!

Thanks for the dimensions, I've been playing with a design like this for a few months myself and wondered how close I was. How far into the upper cabinet have you extended the glass? (from the upper edge of the playfield I guess is what I'm asking)

glass size i used was 21 3/4"x 42 1/4"
glass runs up to the lip section of the back.

Thanks again, I did some playing around with the drawings and found I can get around 10" or so of shade over the top of the playfield and beyond. I planned on masking the DMD monitor except for the display area as I'm using a LCD for mine.

LCD? so are you going to reverse the image and reflect or simply place the lcd under the glass?

Reverse, flip and reflect. I've been playing with some different treatments to the glass and I've almost got figured out a "mirror like" reflection. Of course it means I have to play around with masking off the balance of the screen and dimming the brightness a shade (the back-lighting shows up otherwise). Finding your post was a bonus as I never realized they made a machine like this. I got the idea from a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP that I had that had a heads up display on the windshield that was the same principle. I wanted to put the DMD at the top end past the 37" playfield.

cool, how are you reversing and flipping the lcd output? i could never find anything that gave me an answer to that so i ended up going the old school route with a crt and swapping the coil wires?

Using an ATI 5770 for the playfield and a 5670 passively cooled for the DMD and backglass, the catalyst control center has an "Inverted Landscape 180 degree" setting, way easier than modding the CRT.

cool, given the issues in the past with ATI cards, I never thought to check out what the catalyst control panel had over the Nvidia one. I'm in the middle of planning a second build of this design now, may just go LCD route and use an ATI for the DMD and backglass to solve having to use the 19" CRT i was planning on and stick that in a cocktail instead. dblthumb.gif

Actually, "modding the CRT" is as simple as pulling one cable, flipping it 180 degrees and plugging it back in. Did that by mistake
and on purpose many times. smile.gif

Well..... I guess the term "modding" is a bit extreme in this case but you know what I mean sorry.gif

The Ati drivers and controls have come a long way, and you can't beat the price. I haven't played with Nvidia cards for a long time so I have no idea what these games look like on them but I have to say that I've had pretty good luck and avoided any of the "Ati issues" with vp so far.

homemade shaker motor done. total cost $25.
will heat form a small piece of lexan/PETG to form a cover over the device once installed to protect the underside of the screen etc from getting a weight slung into it smile.gif
will test this weekend and see if I need to spend an additional $10 for a motor speed controller (these motors are low rpm to start)

Well after 6 hrs, 6 driver packs and all my lcds I'm stumped. I don't know what or when I changed, but somewhere along the line I lost that setting and can't seem to get it back. Suddenly, my only option is "Landscape (flipped)" and it just moves the desktop.

I hope you have better luck with it than I am, not sure if maybe the setting was monitor specific, but I can't for the life of me find it now. Starting to think it was avail in the 32bit drivers for xp (somewhere along the line I've upped to 7 64bit).
