Is the 64-bit build still considered experimental or may experience problems/issues the regular build doesn't have? Or is it the recommended build to use if one has a modern CPU and 64-bit o/s?

Toxie, thanks for the working on the sound issue.  I have only tested the Star Wars Trilogy, but I didn't notice any change in the volume at all.  I did download the 64 bit version... has it been updated?  I couldn't find any kind of version number anywhere.

Thanks for the hard work toxie!

@Drybonz - it is my understanding that the 64-bit version is an experimental version which is currently not updated with the latest changes.  Download the 32-bit version to get the updates and test that.

Thanks... I'll check out the 32 bit version now.

*edit*  Ok, great... definitely more volume in the 32 bit version.  It's loud enough to hear stuff that I wasn't able to make out before in Star Wars.  Thanks for the sound fix, toxie.

Tried Twister, Simpsons, Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Guns N Roses.  Definitely much better than before.  Sounds really really good!  Thanks so much for looking in to this as it really does make the tables a lot more fun to play.

Thanks Toxie,  Appreciate all the work, makes the volume much better for me, on tables like South Park and Star Wars.

Thanks guys for the quick testing!

As for the 64bit version: It will -only- be used if you also use the 64bit version of VP (which we did not release for a long time, as it does not provide any immediate benefit so far).

In addition, VPM 64bit actually will run -slower- at the moment for some machines, as mjr did some 32bit assembler optimizations that are not so trivial to port over and thus are disabled in 64bit at the moment.

Is this new version fix the SEGA tables sound issue... i'm barely able to hear voice sound in South Park and all was fine in 2.6 or 2.5

Just read post above... will give it a try....  Thanks

 :hmm:It's not fixing the sound for me on SEGA tables... :wimper:

But soon as I replace dll with this older version: [https://sourceforge....25.zip/download]  The sound is louder so this old version give me more latitude by droping DMD sound a little bit to avoid distortion.

Also the version 2.6 from this link [http://www.vpforums....&showfile=11571] work flawlesly the sound is louder too

Thanks Toxie for all the work.... If you have a chance to take a look to find out why the older version work fine compared to new one.

Regards

Its not the same as before, true. But this is still the best emulation so far.

I hope to find out more by analyzing the firmware, but its far from trivial, especially all the details.

I was opening various tables today and noticed that after I had opened and closed a few that I lost all game music for all tables after that until I restarted VPX.  This would repeat after I opened more tables until I restarted again, etc... I'm using an unofficial version of pinmame based on 2.8.  Just wanted to give a heads up.

Had that same issue yesterday on VPX.1, also the untalk-about-able version of vpm.

The loss of VPM sounds with them restarting after exiting and re-entering VP has been an off and on issue for quite a while.  I remember this happening going as far back as VPM 1.0.

Can this be looked into?

This is known, but unknown how to solve.   :/

One more update on the BSMT2000 emulation: After more reading into the firmware and some minor fixes, i'm now giving up as the only major effect still missing (0x77 command) is way too complicated (at least for me) and at the same time very very sparely used, even on the few machines that actually trigger it.

Okay, contrary to my previous statement, i improved the BSMT2000 emulation even more:

Now most of the glitchy sounds like the TFTC bonus count should be gone, plus some of the still missing sounds like the BSMT logo sound now play (kinda, not perfect yet, a wild guess of the 0x77 command).

Please test all Sega, Alvin G., Data East (Batman and newer), and Stern (up to Terminator 3) DMD generation games again and tell me if there are new glitches now.

In addition the new builds at the first page also feature an improved mapping of the brightness levels for Gottlieb GTS3s, especially SMB,SMB Mushroom World and Cue Ball Wizard.

(but please test all GTS3 machines, as the remaining ones (SFII to Barb Wire) also got remapped)

..and the Whitestar II chapter will be opened instead.. ;)

(there is a very substantial bug in it that i stumbled over yesterday, but unfortunately it does not explain why some tables still show the damn crackling noise sometimes :/)
