Because the ball bearing inside is rolling to close the switch.
Give them a bit more angle

If with both nudges a "/" shows up, I'd check the Ipac programming first.
It might be off I guess.

Hey, I really appreciate the notepad idea. dblthumb.gif
I just got my mercury switches installed a couple of hours ago myself.
I was not sure how they worked so I had to guess.
I just tilted them down a bit so the mercury was in the tip of the bulb. I have to shake the machine a bit harder but it does not tilt every time.
Still not sure if this is the correct way to do it or not.
The notepad idea will give me a better idea as to what is going on when I shake the machine a bit.

i think i figured out whats wrong these things are too damn sensitive these were a bitch to calibrate. when i was shaking one way when the cab was wobbling it trigger the other one too. i had to put them both in totally opposite angles so they wouldn't trip each other. i also have to nudge it pretty hard now too tongue.gif

these will do for now but i think i will be replacing these with real mercury switches if i can find some. the place i got these from lied to me they said they were mercury their not!!

edit- nope scratch that they work sometimes than they start doing what they were doing b4. these switches are crap!!

where did you get yours from?

oh btw got some leds from ozstick they work great now. no more 2nd degree burns when i start the table!

edit- ok i'm pretty sure i know whats wrong the switches are on the side of 2 bits of wood that the tv sits on the problem is this wood is not connected to anything it just sits in like a slot and it can move freely back and forth. when i shake the table the wood slides back and forth and it's triggering both switches i'm gonna go to the hardware tomorrow and buy some brackets and lock them down it should fix the nudge. but i'd really like to get proper mercury switches not this ball bearing crap (thanks for lying jaycar!)

Yes, those are the same ones I have, and they do, indeed, have mercury inside them. I can see it through the clear shell.

How can you hear it if you're "thinking" about getting them?

Mount them just inside your coindoor
Give them a bit of angle and they should work fine

Real mercury switches are being outlawed in Australia that's why they sell the ballbearing ones.
The real mercury switches are even more sensitive and will only cause you more problems

If you can't live with this nudge method time to buy a plunger/motion board kit for more realistic nudge

A ball bearing type will give you 'bounce' like any normal switch, just more amplified due to the way it works.
A mercury switch will do almost the same although do to the obvious, the contact medium being liquid, it has more of a wave effect with regards to breaking the contacts in this case. So when you nudge, you induce a wave into the mercury.
This will again give you double nudge or no nudge when you want it without a lot of time spent on calibration.

Would be nice if we could adjust the debounce settings on the Ipac.
