Going to download and try this out in a few minutes. Thanks!

EDIT:

Just tried it out and it works fine on my PC.   The ability to recenter the view is great and it looks like it automatically sets the correct height for me (Playing using a PinSim)  Thank you Caligula!   If we could also eventually recenter with an assignable  xbox game pad button that would work even better for those running a PinSim since the PinSim emulates a standard Xbox 360 gamepad.  For now I had to use a USB extension cord since my keyboard would not reach my PinSim and I didn't have a wireless keyboard handy!

Thanks again!

Hi gear323,

it should be possible to change the keymapping. Preferences=>Configure Keys, Nudge and DOF...

Room Rec is recentering the entire room (I'm working on that too, but this is far away from done, I just didn't remove the button)

Table Rec is recentering only the table within the room (ATM both buttons behave the same...)

Table Up/Down moves the table 1cm up/down every time you press the button.

I hope that makes it easier for you.

Hey guys, you are faster making changes than me testing them!  :love39:

@Caligula:

I tested your last compilations, with TAF 2.1 r 0.5.4

Recentering option is wonderful. It was really neccesary. THANKS a lot.

First time I run the new version (32 bits) I get an unexpected crash on steam VR that made it restart steamVR  in "safe mode" (never seen before). After that, I started VPVR a couple of times and I had no more crashes.

The performance seems to be better than before. I'm running almost all of time ball is moving at 45 fps (AWS is doing its job). I'm using Rift and the 'performance headroom' is about 30%.

I moved to new 64 bits compilation and the performance headroom was better. It rised up about +10%.

DMD is still placed a little bit down-shifted.

@3rdaxis:

For me, this vpx is already perfect, but I have to say I did not know TAF in deep.

Tomorrow I'll try to test 0.6.1 TAF, in case you are not releasing another improved one!   :otvclap:

japdos- The only other thing I want to try and fix is the dithering on a few of the textures in the table and maybe a bit more optimization but for now this is more or less the final product.

This sounds great. Will try the new TAF with the analog plunger and report back tonight. Will also see if I can remap the recenter to a button!

One thing I have noticed with the 3D room is there is what looks like wall clipping when you turn around. Basically when looking at the walls behind the table the corners where the walls meet turn into black bubbles and the textures disappear when moving your head

Does everyone get that result?

Yea everyone will get this. It's just the camera clipping out. You can only make the room so big but at least I know the limits. This may change so for now I'll just leave it.

The next step will be to bake some lighting into the room the get a nice photorealistic look to it.

Is it possible to copy paste that table into this room over TAF. might look into working it out but just want to see if its doable first :) guessing there is scripting stuff i would have to work out. oh and learn the table editor  :P

I didn't realize that you added these options right into the VP application for the recenter.   I changed it to XBox button X or button 3 and it works great!

Thanks!!

I agree with that but also these images remind me of my old three monitor cabinet.  So flat.  Ha!    Digital pinball is really meant to be played in VR!    :)   My old pinbab also had the playfield too close to the glass and I always hated that but never got around to fixing it!

I remember a few pages back there was some work on force feedback being done in regards to ximput for an Xbox gamepad / PinSim.   Does anyone know if there was any progress with that or if they are still looking for more testers?

It would be easier to copy and paste the room into the MM file but you will need some sort of 3d program to calibrate the alignment of primitives and some basic coding to bring in all the scripts for the buttons and plunger.

Thanks for the reply.

Basic coding i might be able to do. using a 3d program maybe not! Might be fun to look into anyway. Side note, anyone running a Pimax? Bet it looks awesome in one. If your PC can run it :D

Very nice additions! Makes a lot of difference!

Can I suggest lowering the TOM and AFM playfields just a little bit into the cab? :)

DHD69 is still working on it. The beta version does not designed for Visual Pinball, but FX3.

I have been working on an update for Triple Strike (new lighting, some bug fixes).  I figured I would make a 70's themed room more fitting for an EM.  Thanks 3rdAxis for the cabinet model parts (I made them fit on an EM!) and a couple of the other models I used.  I know the outdoor skybox looks silly :) ...  It's a work in progress.

Great progress here! Does Caligulas recenter injection work well? Next step could be support for alphanumeric displays and a way to move and resize dmds. Hopefully we have rumble here in the near future. Then we should to talk to toxie and the vpinball guys if they could create a VR tables section for us, so we could share what we did on the tables. And one day we hopefully get a new lighting engine. But I guess isnt something we should expect soon.

Oh yeah, I am still looking for a way to reduce flickerung, especially on ramps on TSPP.

Hopefully I am back in business this weekend, wish me luck.

Caligula's implementation of recentering works like a charm.

+1 for creating a VR tables section.

Try changing your environmental (reflection) texture out to something else less reflecty.  In TSPP the file is called Shinyenvironment3blur4.hdr.    Try changing this to a completley black background and see if it helps at all.  (I haven't tried it on this table yet, I';m just thinking out loud.)

I already tried this (replaced it by the file from AfM) and had no luck. I also changed the material settings and had no luck. Was able to reduce the flickering on a couple of other tables, no luck on TSPP (which is kind of my favorite at the moment).

@japdos: Sounds great, hopefully I can test it this weekend.

Have to find out if I can get tonwork animated backglass when I am back in the game.

Edit: @Rawd: Could you please put a link to this thread and Caligulas sourceforge page into your youtube video descriptions? Thank you
