Saw the picture of how the shield is mounted. I'm not surprised that it cracked during shipping!

Zeb - do you have any more of these boards available? I'm just starting to source parts for my build now, and this might save some headache.....

Few questions for you guys -

Contactor Layout:

layout.jpg

Still waiting on my other 4 contactors to arrive but I circled where they will go.  I was laying everything out on a board and going to test it all before I mount it in the cabinet.  Also want to make sure I am using a layout that makes sense.  Take a look and let me know if I should move anything, the only thing that has to stay where it is would be the sub, the cab already had a cutout for one there.

 wiring questions for Zebulon -

I don't see a spot for a wiper motor, should I wire that to #16 the misc slot?

What is the trick to splitting up and stripping these ribbon cables without ruining them?  Magnifying glass?

I see a ground terminal next to the power on the ledwiz, I should leave that power terminal empty but wire the ground to your board both top and bottom?  And should I wire it to a real ground like a cabinet leg or anything else?

I have 4 different strobes from ebay, all 12v.  I bought multiples because I wasn't sure from the pictures what I would be getting.   Not sure if I will use all 4 or just the 2 rectangular banks.  Any recommendations?  Is it ok to use all 4?

I have 4 strobes also, i wanted only 2 but i bought 2 pairs by mistake  :tongue3:

Now that you mention it, would be great if I can wire 4 of them, 2 near the playfield and 2 in the backbox top.

Waiting for the answer :)

Answers....:)

1) Wiper motor is gear motor, wire it to the gear motor output on the inductor board

2) Nip the very end between the ribs and they separate quite easily, use some strippers but don't squeeze too hard and you'll be fine

3) No power necessary to the LEDWiz, run the ground to the bottom board and it will be carried up to the top board when you wire the power header. Don't bother grounding to a leg, it's really a common line, not a ground.

4) You can definitely hook up all 4 strobes to the single strobe terminal, at the most that arrangement might draw 1 amp

Thanks that is all good news and helpful but your answer to #1 leaves me with another question :)  If the wiper motor goes to the gear motor, then the shaker goes to #16 - Spare?

As far as running the power up from one board to the other, any need to use a thicker guage cable or the same small stuff is fine for that too?

The shaker motor goes to the shaker terminal on the flasher board.....#16 (spare) truly is a spare....:)

For wiring from the bottom to the top boards, 16-18awg is fine, heavier gauge doesn't hurt by any means, but that range is fine.

Ah-ha, it's on the other board, explains why I couldn't find it!  I kept expecting it to be located in the high power outs section.  Thanks for the tech support.

Good news for the possibility of 4 strobes :D

For some feedback, except the leds, that I only connected the first one yesterday, every toy is running perfectly.

I increase a little bit the voltage of the shaker, which was not powerful enough at default.

I hope I can finish to install all leds, and two additional strobes this week-end :)

Hi,

I have a strobe question. This is the model that I bought:

http://www.ebay.com/...=item2eb7fdfcc2

First of I don't understand how I can change the way it strobes, I guess it has something todo with the yellow wire?

But the Booser Board question is: Can I connect the strobes directly to the 12v strobe output? Without using the "box" that controls it. And have the board doing the Strobe effect? Or how do people use/connect these things?

You connect the 2 lights directly to the boards, no control box.

The strobe rate/speed is controlled by the ledwiz (there is a setting in the .ini file for "interval" usually around 25 imitates a good strobe effect).

So is it correct understood that this is the best way to do it? (connect directly)
