I have a discussion going over in the WIP version of this thread. Should I move it over here? Should the WIP threads be locked once the table has been released?

Yes, my knowledge in scripting is not my strong point unfortunately, I learnt VB with this table tongue.gif
But I know that on this table, the elements which really impact the table performance are the big animated textures like the HKS or the Flashers, it's why I added the option to disable them. did you try to play with those options disabled ?

Thanks for the script, I took a look at it and it's a smarter way to script the lights, but I didn't really notice better result during a game, it's like before, the table plays smooth except during busy light sequences like when you get extraball / super jackpot / etc... It's because all the flashers work together + the lights + the HKS + DMD animation.
I should compare the fps, I guess it should be slightly better with your script... I will test that...
But I agree that my script could be optimized for sure (not only with the lights), I guess I would do it differently now, if I had to redo it from scratch !

Btw, you shouldn't disable the ball reflection since the gain is very small and you lose both the ball reflection and ball the shadow.

You did a decent job considering this was your first script! Your code is clean, I just have to take the time to follow it to figure it out and fully optimize.

The flashers may be the problem, but I only notice a slow down when all the lights are being updated. In that sense, it might be that it's a drawing problem with VP, and has nothing to do with the script. Certainly dropping a fade would help in that situation. But, maybe it is because all the flashers are on - like I said, I really haven't had a chance to look at it closely.

I think it's worth further examination. I'm happy to do so if you want me to.

I love this table!

I want to read all comments you got on this table, but I must open the comments one by one. Can someone tell me how I display comments on top of each other like "normal forums"?

At the top right of the page is an options pull-down - change Display Modes there.

Do you have a snapshot?

Check your resolution, the table works in Full screen 1920 X 1080 - 32 bit
By the way, it's not connected to your issue, but in order to optimize the performance, don't activate the render shadows and ball shadow in the editor, since all the shadows are already rendered with the textures directly (even the ball).
They are already disabled, but you could have the temptation to activate them wink.gif

I was trying to play this last night. I had a good amount of stutter, which I believe is a system issue, but I also had a weird graphical glitch. The ball hand a mirror image of it in the "first ball's" shadow. So, it was like they were rolling together on the table.

On my other computer the shadow shows up appropriately. Ever see that before tipoto?

Thanks.

Make sure you click "antialias ball" Nick. I believe that happens when you don't have that checked.

Like JAMO said, you have to activate "antialias ball", otherwise the ball reflection won't be transparent as it should.
The ball reflection is done with a real ball, so you have 2 balls playing in the same time (one on top of each other). the one used for the reflection has an alpha texture, if the antialiasing is not checked, for some reason the alpha doesn't work.

I can't try it on the problem computer at a moment, but on the other one that does have the effect. Thanks JAM0.

EDIT: Yup, that was it. Thanks tipoto and JAM0.

What update do you guys have on the ball in this table? In Lethal Weapon 3 for example it's easy to see the ball moving with like 500 fps (my monitor is 60hz, but you understand what I mean). But here it feels a little slow and I dont know how to fix it. I press F11 and I guess it say I have 250-350 fps. I don't see any option for V-sync and I have already V-sync on in my ATI settings. But the game does not care about that.

Im a big fan of Terminator and Arnold so it hurts alot if I can't get this to work perfect. My computer is by the way a very modern one and can run most games on 1920*1200 with high settings.

Thoughts?

If you have a recent computer, you shouldn't have any problems, maybe it's something with your graphic card options!
Otherwise you can change some options in the script in order to improve the performance. At the top of the script you can disable some graphic effects in the section called "Improving performance".
By the way, you have a 16/10 monitor working on 1920 x 1200 and it's not the best for this table since it's done to fit a 16/9 one on 1920 x 1080.

A brilliant table. Just a work of art really. I got a question though. I don't have a full hd screen, but I tilted my vaio notebook on its side to play the table the way it was intended and that seems to work great at 1680 x 945.

However, anyone got an idea whether it is safe to tilt a notebook on its side assuming it is done with care?

Finally, when I play in this way, the display (or backbox or scoreboard) is not at the top of my screen, but rather vertical on the right side meaning I have to crane my neck each time to check my score. How can I get the display on the top of the screen, horizontal?

Thanks!

I've been playing this quite a bit lately and besides looking amazing, the physics are excellent. Thanks again to all involved for this treasure.

Thanks Nick War!

For DeltaHorse: There is an option at the head of the script to rotate the DMD.

Look for "rol" in the script and change it from 0 to 1

Edit: Do what Tipoto says above. We posted at the same time so I didn't see his post.

For DeltaHorse: There is an option at the head of the script to rotate the DMD.

Indeed there is. And the orientation is correct. That said, the resolution of the DMD is incorrect now. The entire DMD is squished together, bearably readable. So here's my thinking. Can I get the DMD centralized in the top of the screen with correct dimensions? Here's a pic of how it looks (but pretend it's upright because I've tilted my notebook):

You can see the DMD isn't quite correct. You also see the top and bottom of my screen is black because I went with resolution 1440 x 900 and my notebook's max res is 1680 x 945. So would there be a way to get the DMD to take up the entire, or nearly, the entire position of the top black bar?

Sorry for the neediness!
