Beautiful.

You've scalled it perfectly, the angle and depth makes it feel real!

I shall hand it to you though, that's the first time I've had ball stutter on my system. Running ss 2.0 on a 9700k 2080ti 32mb, so needs some work:)

Thanks for all your work.

What CPU are you running on? And what is SS 2.0? I would try deleting the Sofa, Soflegs, sofapillows, Chair and Chairpillows 1,2 and 3. They are the most expensive items in the room and they're not tied to the script. Try turning Anti Aliasing completely off and no AO or Forced anisotropic texture filtering.

Hi,

here is my Radeon driver version analysis for the RX 580 (CPU Ryzen5 2600, WMR headset):

17.8.1  - working
18.5.1  - working
18.6.1  - working
18.7.1  - working (there are no newer sub-versions after that, 18.8.1 is next)
18.8.1  - not working
18.8.2  - not working
18.9.3  - not working
19.1.1  - not working (latest released version)
19.3.1  - not working (beta)

I will stick to version 18.7.1 until further notice.

Edit: I got some serious mouse stutter after installing version 18.7.1. I am back on version 17.8.1 that is the suggested driver by the card vendor. 18.2.1 is reported to have no mouse stutter too.

Michael

i7 9700k, and the ss is the pixel density scale in steam VR. 2.0 is very much the sweet spot, but it's very demanding. Ill try lowering it to 1.5 and see if it makes a difference.

*EDIT it's definitely a performance issue with super sampling, 1.5 gives a tiny amount of stutter, though fully playable. Going to 1.0 and it flows free, but it loses the visual quality to a very low standard, even for a 3 year VR vet, looking at 1.0 is hard work.

Is that i7 running at 3.6 GHz? I think you can throttle that baby up too 4.9. That would run like a raped ape. Where is that option for ss? In Steam VR?

Hi RYSr,

17.8 was the oldest downloadable version for the RX580, I found - but it did the trick! I now have the pin on my headset. Woohoohoo!

I removed all old driver first (1 NVIDIA, 1 older AMD) using DDU from Guru3D.com and installed 17.8. I will check, if the newer drivers work now too after the cleanup.

Thank You!

Michael

Glad it was "easy" as just a driver swap! Nice work!

Great work to all the creative people working on Virtual rooms and what not. Cant wait to try them out! The Attack from Mars room sound like a hoot.  In Big Bang Bar, the bar tender always says something like "hey player one don't look behind you", would be cool to have like a scripted thing so if you do look behind you a monster springs out or something lol or "life sized" tube dancers ;)

Yeah 3.6, but i value longtivity:)

Steam VR's settings tab is where you'll find the sampling rate. You can global set to a value, or set on a game/app basis. The difference between 2.0 and defaulting 1.0 is night and day. Despite the native resolution of the current HMD, pinball at 2.0 is pin sharp crystal clear, and very much some of the best visuals to be found in current VR games imho.

Zaccaria is another stand out experience in terms of the visuals, VP is matching that on a lot of the tables I'm playing.

Id be interested to hear from anybody running VP on a Samung+ HMD or a Vive Pro at 2.0, it must look stunning.

Wow what a difference that made holy cow. I get a little stutter on AFM in the same VR room @ 2.0. 1.5 seems to work well.

Hey, the light switch didn't turn on the spots when I tried to use them.. What's up with that? :surprise: :hmm:

Wow what a work of art, gave my rig a test workout, but it played pretty well.

Thanks for posting it..

This is really great! Nice work with this!   Looks like we already now have our first modified specifically for VR table!

So I think I found what could be considered a bug.   I have a PinSim with an Analog plunger.  When I pull the plunger back the virtual plunger does not move at all on the outside of the cabinet.   However, If I use the digital button that I also have assigned to the plunger then it does move.  It looks like the animation is not tied to the analog plunger at all.  Is that an easy fix or a known issue that is harder to resolve?

If you don't have a PinSim to test with, I assume any gamepad with an analog stick would also have the same results / issue.

Great work!

I've been messing with G5K's Attack from Mars, and now 3rdAxis and I are modding out the VR room to make it a bit more table specific.   I'm just having some fun messing around with stuff....

This table was so well done, and it looks really nice in VR.  There are not any of the nasty artifacts or glitching that shows up on some tables.

I hate to say it...... but my VP cabinet feels a bit 'flat' after playing so much in VR  haha :)

Thanks again to everyone working on VRVPX, and thanks again to 3rdAxis for making this room to play in.

what HMD are you using?

Just a standard Vive.

That's what I'm using also.

I'm not noticing that big a difference with supper sampling from 100 to 250% in global settings. After you change the setting, are you restarting SteamVR or the VPVR programs to made the new setting active?

In app settings the VPVR app is not listed, (only the normal VR Apps) so how do you set it there?

Perhaps the problem is just my tired old eye's?

Rich

Hahahaha. Nice, LOVE the TV man. Did you apply for the proper permits for that tile floor? ;) I hear what your saying about the cabinet being so flat looking now and since playing this in VR I'm finding it really hard to justify building a pincab. There's just no comparison.

Change it while it's running, then restart. It sticks at the value you set it at. If you open the settings whilst it's running, the gl app will be front and centre, though just make sure you've changed from a global setting to a game by game basis.

If you do actually have it running at 2 or over, I have to say that I'm shocked you can't see a difference. Some games it's not so striking a difference, but in pinball it's definitely so.

Hey guys,

I am bit out of business. Have no time for Pinball plus my Gaming PC is broken. Wanted to upgrade it a bit and obviously damaged something. No Pinball for me at the moment. Your rooms awesome guys! I guess that you need a 2080ti that can handle all the objects in that room, pretty neat anyway! Those moving martians make me nervous though. I'd prefer static martians I think. Maybe they could move their eyes or so, to have some subliminal motion.

@Dez88

When you say restart it, do you mean the GL app?

I have had it running at 250% in global, I do see some difference but not allot. I'll uncheck the manual box and then try the app setting.

Can you read the inserts without moving your head closer to the playfield to focus on them?

Thanks

Rich

I sold my VP cabinet two years ago when I first got my Rift and tried Pinball FX2 just with the hope that this would happen. VP in VR beats out any cabinet in my opinion. Soon we will have headsets with 3X the resolution of the Rift and that will make a big difference as well. Just need a PinSim or something like it with full force feedback and nudging and this is the best digital pinball experience there is.

WoW! love the room, definitely a punch to the system but a lot of fun. While I dig the upscale basement look I'd prefer a dirty 80-90s arcade vibe ;)

I feel sort of bad for cab makers, because there is no going back after VR.. I know it might sound lame but this really IS A DREAM COME TRUE.. for a pin head.. it's like flight siming in VR.. once you try it your hooked in..

It's amazing. You dont need the space, the cost, the upkeep and maintenance, the noise... you can play a warehouse of games all in your home(or tiny apartment)

I enjoy all the VR pinball offerings, I like Stern Pinball Arcade, FX2, Future Pinball and last but not least VPX.. They all play differently but all enjoyable after settling into how each thumps.
