I am very curious how well this would work with the Windows outward tracking VR headsets.   The downfall with those headsets is that they wont track their controllers when they are behind your back....  but the controllers are not needed for a VR pinball application.

Some of the headsets can be found fairly cheap without the controllers as well.

If the HMD works with Steam VR it works with this.

Hi Rawnei,

no, not necessarily. My Medion Erazer X1000 (similiar to the Lenovo or Acer WMR), is running fine with SteamVR but not with VPin_GL. Maybe it is my RX580 graphics card.

Matty (post #107, page 6) has a working installation with a Lenovo Explorer, though.

So good luck and try to avoid AMD cards until we have further information.

Michael

Seems that we have to wait a bit longer for an advanced game room. Anybody who wants to have a simple room (just a floor and a wall) meanwhile, just shoot me a message. You have to copy the primitives you find above the playfield and paste it into the table you want it. Then just export the images "boden" and "bricks" and import em into the table you want. You also have to do this for the materials material2 and material3. Takes 5 minutes in total. You also could add side walls easily.

I'm on nVidia but in the Radeon control panel what is the OpenGL triple buffering set at? Have you played with it?

I see you've been working on a virtual room rendition and was wondering about how it works? Do you always have to import them? Do you notice much change in frame rate? Also does the room have lighting that actually makes some of the tables brighter? would like to test drive it if you dont mind sending me a version.

I'm just going to set this here and go get a cup of coffee.. DONT TOUCH ANYTHING!! :pardon:  NOT MY LINKS BUT ENJOY

Hi guys,

despite of upgrading my remaining hardware I still get a black headset display once I start Vpin_GL. Does anyone here has a Radeon RX580 running fine?

Michael

 @mfuegemann

The Radion RX580 works with the Vpin_GL program!

I just replaced my GTX1070ti with the Radeon RX580. At first I had to reset the PC monitor to the primary. But after that I was able to get Stream VR running properly. Then I ran VP-GL exe and the table image showed on the PC monitor and also on My Vive HMD. I'm using Windows 10 64bit and the PC monitor is connected to the DVI-D port and HMD is connected to the HDMI port, both on the RX580.  Radeon software version17.7

Then I installed a second card a RX560 in the PC and tried running the PC monitor form it and left the HMD plugged into the RX580. Steam VR loaded and the Vpin_GL program with Addams Family table loaded and displayed on the PC monitor, but the HMD display's were dark, no image. So I guess SteamVR wants the PC monitor and the HMD both running off the same card? I moved the PC monitor back to the RX580 and rebooted and the HMD worked again!

Are you running both displays off the RX580?

I'm having some fun here. :)   I'm modding an Attack from Mars table, and I duplicated and enlarged the 4 Martians to be life sized around the table.  Tom (Steely) helped me code them so they animate along with the ones on the table.  Pretty funny to see them life sized and bouncing beside you.   I foresee a lot of cool VR room mods in the future :)

Anything you can share or maybe just a video or screenshot at a minimum? Sounds neat!

Hi RYSr,

thank You for the effort. I am running all displays off my RX580 and the internal VGA is deactiated. I will try the older driver (17.1)

Your Welcome!

By the way, it was version 17.7, not 17.1

Hi RYSr,

17.8 was the oldest downloadable version for the RX580, I found - but it did the trick! I now have the pin on my headset. Woohoohoo!

I removed all old driver first (1 NVIDIA, 1 older AMD) using DDU from Guru3D.com and installed 17.8. I will check, if the newer drivers work now too after the cleanup.

Thank You!

Michael

TAF V2.1 VR V0.2.8 https://vpinball.com...m_page&p=117248

Still very much a beta. I can run this with Fast FXAA enabled but with NOTHING else on. Forced Anisotropic texture filtering OFF as well it causes a lot issues for me.

Running on a i7 4.00 GHz CPU,  Nvidea Gforce GTX 1070 8GB GPU, 32 GB DIMM ram.  CPU overclocked to 4.48 GHz

We just approved it. We just wanted some screenshots to go with the upload since it is pushed to eg. Facebook. He also wanted to keep the support topic here, not on VP. I think that is a great idea as this is where the dev stuff is happening.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.
